To each their own, we're not Borg after all. I just found it... Chaotic I think is the right word. Too much going on which just distracted me from fully enjoying the show. Plus a lot of season five seemed to hinge on believing in yourself to get out of things. I liked it the first couple of times, then I got bored.

I think you're taking this series a little too seriously. Genocide? It was gandhi and santa clause being blown up while being led be elvis! It's funny! It's not like ST Voyager or Enterprise that tried to build serious stories on stupid contrived moral dilemmas that made no sense.

Okay I'll say this here since it's vaugely related and I've never watched red dwarf. WTF was that Dr Who X-mas special?! People say RTD ruined the show, IMO moffat's taking it to the dogs. I mean, the different concepts would've done okay alone, the fish, the x-mas eve time travel, the crashing ship (even though they did that before) or the scrooge character, but together it just sucked. Kthxbi.
