@DarrenWS6 yeha i know that mine are stock, but i think im just gonna rip out the guts on mine, dont know thou if it will make a difference in back pressure
@mikesimon31 Gutting the catas will worsen performance because your interupting the pipe size from 2.75" to the full interior of the cat and back out to the 2.75". This interupts the velocity and static pressure which will hurt your low end torque, and really wont sound good at all. Go with hi-flow cats to gain the loud volume, and stay legal and healthy and high performing.
@DarrenWS6 ooh shit, thanks for the info now im really gonna get some hi flow cats! i knew i was gonna be losing something but i just didnt know what but thanks alot dude !
I had strait pipes on my 2500hd 6.0 but I was getting a headach from pulling 26ft gooseneck trailer. it would raddle your brain inside when it had to gear down up a hill. I miss the pipes . I put glass packs on each side. not as bad in the cab but sure miss the sound (when I wasnt pullin a trailer)
@DarrenWS6 I am going to look at a 6.0 Silverado tomorrow. I hope it is not that loud inside. I guess some people like it but I would get sick of it. I will probably still buy it though. Cuz I love em. It is an 07 with only 24000 kms on it. I am Canadian so that is about 18000 miles i think. How are they on gas?
Hey man, that sounds really nice. A deep toned growl is defanitly the way to go. I reacintly bought a 2006 GMC 2500HD with the 6.0L, and was wondering how much all of the parts and laubour cost. Cuz i would like to do that to mine. Anyways nice truck and keep it on all 4's.
You must have managed to get a lemon... our 05 2500HD with 110k miles hasn't given us any problems. I have seen a fair share of problems from fords... from issues with the power windows not working to exhaust leaks and other misc problems. Every once in a while I'll see a few chevy problems. You must have better luck with fords, my family has better luck with chevys. We have an 89 k1500 chevy pickup that has been passed around the family... now close to rolling 450k miles.
You really take pride in ur truck huh? lol, what, 16 vids now? That is the best sounding setup for a silverado though. period. Mines just 2.5 with 40's all the way back with 3.5 tips...Main street at midnight between all the buildings...it's outragous!!! Gotta love it;)
@mxboy96 Na I hate this truck. Gave me all kinds of problems, and nearly wrecked me into a ditch when the power steering pump blew and took the brakes out with it. I bought another Ford, much much happier. I like videoing, its a hobby. And I wanted to start a trend on the Super 44s for the HDs, seems to have worked lol.
Man, I know everyone has their opinion and has bad luck with vehicles, but I have a 1990 Chevy cheyenne pickup and it has 200,000 miles on all original parts and never had a problem out of it! Im not sure why the 2500 has given you problems. From experience I know that is rare for a chevy!
I posted on here quite a few months ago.. id say bout 8-9. Anyway, listening to it now.. dude the super 44 sound identical to the 40's. Hell, my super 40's might even sound a tad bit louder, & all I have is just dual flowmaster super 40 mufflers(id say straight pipes but the cats are still there, even though i have 2 mufflers). Bottom line is.. there is no difference between the 40's & the 44's!
From a quick opinion perspective there isn't, but scientifically there is, locations of all 3 of those mufflers is different, helping to cause a different tone. The Super 44 being the deepest aggressive sounding muffler, the 40 Delta retaining an aggressive sound with a hint of a deep tone, and the Super 40s being deep and mildly aggressive when floored.
im wanting some more flowmasters fer my truck i had 1 dual in dual out on my ranger but it was a bolt on and it fell of then i had a muffler shop weld one on a lil farther back but it was not as loud as i wanted lol so i ran nothing at all on my new ranger but header
this truck was very annoying after driving for it after awhile. I couldn't drive it more than a half hr or an hr before the deep note gave me a headache
Sounds great from the inside. As I commented in one of your other video's, we're trying to find some for our Chevy Silverado 1500 4x4... Any suggestions of what setup it should be?
Sounds annoying actually lol, if you wanting Flowmaster, i'd say a SI/DO Super 44, 3" in, 2.5" out with 4" tip. angled however you want. If you provide the muffler and tips a shop should do it from $106 - $150.
X pipe will quiet it down? I could of sworn I read a responce comment you had to some1 elses question saying X made it sound more like a "monster truck" & H made it more aggressive sounding w/ a deeper tone... whats the difference?
i meant it wouldn't quiet it down, not majorly, it generally takes away the crackle and properly balances the scavenging. H pipe doesn't balance that greatly but contributes to a deep sound.
(continued from last comment)...alsooo, whats the difference between H & X pipes. I mean i want loudness but also power gains. I am just so damn confused cause people give me all different opinions & frankly I dunno who to believe.
Well he is correct about single exhaust ( single tailpipe or dual ) is bettwer than true dualed. True duals are louder in high rpm, but single will hold a stronger idle. If you have a 3" intermediate pipe, then a muffler with 3" inlet and 2.5" dual outlets will perform better. The flow balances out better. Well the Super 44 is the best muffler they make, loudest 2 chamber, but Flowmasters do not gain power. X pipe will best for performance, it would quiet it down alot, my F150s X'd
really man jus chop ur pipe of at the header but leave a lil bit coming off ur headers so you can weld on ur muffler the dump it down loud agressive as hell and you can tell the power change low end torque and trotle response
So i went to this garage down the street from me today. I talked w/ the owner & he says its much better to go w/ a single muffler for dual exhaust that 2 of them. He said it wont make a differenc in power/loudness & that id just be paying more. Also that the 2.5" pipes after the muffler would be better than the 3".. is this complete bullshit/is he correct? Oh & he also said the 40 series was the best muffler that flowmaster had to offer as far as loudness & horsepower gains go. Im so confused!
So all in all, what do you think the best bet I should go w/? Single muffler/dual? Cause I do want great sound(loud) outa it, much like yours did, but I dont have the High flow cats. Not sure how much horsepower im gettin now outa the stock 6.0 in my 2500HD too so I dunno how much that would effect my truck.
factory its programmed for the 3" duals, so you might as well keep it dualed as long as you go with free flowing mufflers like Magnaflow, and Borla. Go with a chambered muffler like Cherrybomb, and Flowmaster, it blocks the flow to create a sound and restricts. But 14" or 18" Magnaflow bodies on it and you might like it. I was planning to put 18" bodies on mine.
So its not a good setup then on newer vehicals, so i prolly shouldnt go w/ dual mufflers then huh??? And also, since i dont have any "high flow" cats, would it sound less louder if I were to just keep the stock ones on instead?
Not unless you have the horsepower to back it up. True duals isn't really neccessary unless the engine produces about 350+ horsepower, and is programmed for true duals. Yes it will be quieter.
I know they dual into single pipes, but im asking what would be the best to do regardless. Like does it make it louder to be running true duals w/ 2 mufflers or does it make it softer sounding compared to it just being a single muffler or does it even make a difference at all?? Also, did you remove the cats as well to get the sound you did outa your old 2500HD that your drivin in this video/not?? And one more thing.. how was your horespower/gas mileage afterwards?
True duals is louder and more aggressive sounding, and louder inside. Unless custom tuned for them, it is not a good performing setup on newer modern vehicles. Nope, it has hi-flow Magnaflow cats which was from the previous owner. The 6.0L is just a loud engine. My father was driving in the video, not sure, it was much better before though, I felt a little loss of low end afterwards, and my economy dropped 0.4mpg.

The best setup to run is a single muffler, but these trucks come with dual pipes into a dual inlet muffler so it makes easy to convert it to a true dual. Super 44 is the best Flowmaster has produced, but Flowmaster is cheap stuff overall.
yeah it was cool, but it sucked the gas too much. Never would have been able to afford anything last summer at $4.20 a gallon, right now I could, but I like the 16mpg my F150 gets.
