I'm sorry about your computer! I am always afraid that something will happen to mine... but I have an ancient desktop that will still make it if need be :P And using your TV was a great idea, and it'll keep you going :D And you can buy a somewhat decent laptop for cheap... if it's just a backup, you shouldn't need a ton of power... but you'd probably have compatibility issues with your Mac... and don't mind my rambling, it's 4:30am here and I should have been asleep about 6 hours ago? :P
