@MrMustangHater ummm this is a v6 mustang friend, one tail pipe. i know it says 5.0 conversion but that would make having a single sided exhaust pretty much impossible, because u would have to change the headers then you would have to change stock piping to an x-pipe to fit the headers. sorry to tell ya but the sad part is, is that this honda can hardly beat a v6 mustang

I had a friend who had a prelude with a header and a pulley, also had a carbon fiber hood and trunk (97 I think?) my mustang was stock at the time and we used to always race. beat him every time. the car was nice but doesn't come from the factory with a high output engine and headers. most hondas need an engine swap and other mods just to get to the level of a mustang. not saying there isn't fast hondas out there, but most need much more work than a mustang to go fast

@fisforfamous I originally bought my 86 5.0 for $1600, everything was stock except for the mufflers. I have to say it was in pretty good condition for an 86. not bad for a car that comes with 200hp from the factory. so you put $1600 into the car and that is not including the price of the car itself.

@eg2171 so im not sure exactly what year you have but im guessin 92-96 from the engine you have. so you have 160 hp and weigh about 2800 pounds without you in it. me in my 2001 mustang stock 260 hp and about 3300 pounds without me in it.
2800/160=14.375
3300/260=12.69
so with that power to weight ratio what would you expect to see in a race, let alone the fact that my car was intended to do hard acceleration and its suspension is more tuned for that. so explain how do you beat me easy??

Actually if you can add weight to the front of the car FWD is very advantageous. The only reason FWD may get annoying is when the car is light in the front and you have quite a bit of power. Yet, around 200-300hp with maybe same amount of torque the Dis won't be there "that much". its once we start hitting big numbers you will see this disadvantage.
I'll tell you this and it's a statistical fact, putting how fast they go from 1-10 aside honda's last a hell of a lot longer than any ford, when it comes to high mileage, and need a hell of a lot less repairs, any one like to argue that little factoid?

Sorry, where's the skill and excitement? And yes, I am sure there is at least one straight road in N America, so over 0% is fair...

Dude, controlling a 800hp+ car on full throttle is no joke. Most of these older model FWD cars can't handle. Hence, if it's not a s2000 or NSX it can't handle. last gen Supra/300zx don't handle any better than the muscle cars made in the same time frame. Which car handles the best is always limited to driver potential.
mustangs have much more potential n/a. anyone who knows anything about cars would know that. because of the displacement. the prelude has more hp per liter stock but the mustang engine leaves a lot on the table to gein aftermarket. you can gain over 100 rwhp on a 5.0 with a basic heads cam intake full exhaust set up. I'm talking any aftermarket aluminum heads, mild cam, etc....you can go from the stock 190 rwhp to over 300 with ease...put ported aftermarket heads and larger cam even more hp
I'm a mustang fan first of all. with that being said the prelude is more advanced in stock form. they do put out more hp per liter but don't have the torque to pull a string out of a cats ass. take a stock h22 prelude and a stock 5.0 mustang...both 5 speed. ecspecially an old lx coupe they're much lighter. now take those cars and put aftermarket heads cam intake and full exhaust on both cars and the mustang will walk away. because the stock heads and shit on mustangs flow horrible

@blueovalbadboy88 If you really want to put this into perspective, these cars would be in different classes. Especially in a track race, which would be much more even. Four banger vs V8 is going to be a tough race unless you have spent some money. On the circuit its a different story, handling becomes a major factor over WHP. Drag events are leaned much more towards HP and torque, which is obvious the prelude does not have. Although, there are those monster 4 bangers out there spitting 800 hp.
the thing is you just rated a stock 5.0 which has like 225hp. once you put an intake, exhaust, diff pulleys, and a couple more bolt ons. it gains so much horsepower and torque. weight is the big issue but you dont need to do that to a car that has balls. plus its not about hp, its all about torque. which the 302 does, ecspecially at low rpm's because it a pushrod engine. and why do these little motors have a name that has a shitload of numbers and letters like its fancy or something?

Since you don't see that many cars out on the road from 86 you should come over to florida and see all the old muscle riding around, just in my little town there is like 10 fox bodies or more one of those is mine and another ones is my friends oh and my friends 89 mustang has over 300,000 miles more than what your car has and still running strong and both of our 5.0s are real good on gas and im pretty sure no little prelude will step up to our 5.0s.

I think it all depends where you live because i have never been to a place more old school populated than Georgia, while i was there yes i did see lots of old trucks especially old chevys but i also saw lots of el caminos and some novas all in good condition, something you rarely see over here where i live except the novas there is a couple of them in my town.

@98camaro1 That's a Civic, THIS is a Prelude which probably has an 2.2L DOCH Vtec engine with 190HP at the crank stock. Don't know how much that 5.0L has but its not much more that probably 220HP and has more torque.

@AVENGEDgunslinger if you want to talk stock vs stock. 06 SI vs 06 V6 stang, the stang lost. same as 06 RSX-S vs 06 V6 stang. with a few bolt ons, ive seen them beat the 05-09 GT's. 90's honda CRX with a b16 motor might be a good race against the old 5.0 foxbody. im not saying the CRX is swapped either. they came with different motors. if the 99-00 Si came with a b16 with 160hp that runs 15.5 and weighs 2560lbs, what would a 1900lb CRX with a 160hp B16 do? the LX 5.0 is mid 14's.

@TheBopop i have a 2000 EX coupe. from the factory, it weighs 2513. the 99-0 Si weighs 2560lbs. the slower models, like DX and HX are much lighter, like 2335lbs and 2370. if it were a 97 DX coupe, it would weigh about 2300lbs as well. and a 96 DX would be even lower, like 2260lbs. you must not know anything about a k20 6spd motor swap can do. in cars like mine, they're easily low 13's. bolt ons to a hatch, and some people are at high 12's with as low as 220-230hp. one ran 12.8 with 214hp 151tq
@TheBopop search "K20 VS 08 GT". the results look exactly like i did. pulld him all the way to 150 MPH and i still had another gear to go. he couldnt accelerate after 150 anyways. that was his limit. ive beaten a modded one as well. i do these races all the time. sure there are faster ones. theres always someone faster, but not stock GT's, unless its the 2011. k20's are no joke. with me being a little over 1000lbs lighter, and more than half the power of those GT's, that there says i will win.

I had a friend who had a prelude with a header and a pulley, also had a carbon fiber hood and trunk (97 I think?) my mustang was stock at the time and we used to always race. beat him every time. the car was nice but doesn't come from the factory with a high output engine and headers. most hondas need an engine swap and other mods just to get to the level of a mustang. not saying there isn't fast hondas out there, but most need much more work than a mustang to go fast

I have to say it was in pretty good condition for an 86. not bad for a car that comes with 200hp from the factory. so you put $1600 into the car and that is not including the price of the car itself.

@eg2171 so im not sure exactly what year you have but im guessin 92-96 from the engine you have. so you have 160 hp and weigh about 2800 pounds without you in it. me in my 2001 mustang stock 260 hp and about 3300 pounds without me in it.
2800/160=14.375
3300/260=12.69
so with that power to weight ratio what would you expect to see in a race, let alone the fact that my car was intended to do hard acceleration and its suspension is more tuned for that. so explain how do you beat me easy??

Actually if you can add weight to the front of the car FWD is very advantageous. The only reason FWD may get annoying is when the car is light in the front and you have quite a bit of power. Yet, around 200-300hp with maybe same amount of torque the Dis won't be there "that much". its once we start hitting big numbers you will see this disadvantage.

@ADD8oi The mustang handles fairly well FOR A MUSCLE CAR but there's no substitute for good suspension engineering. I've left too many Mustangs behind in a corner. Drag racing is boring...burnout, wait for the tree, react just before, hook up and speed down the track, foot to the floor for all of 15 seconds or less, then loop around, wait your turn, and do it again? Sorry, where's the skill and excitement? And yes, I am sure there is at least one straight road in N America, so over 0% is fair...

i meant 90% lol, and yes out of all the muscle cars, due to its weight and setup, the mustang handles the best, and its actually not that bad compared to most other cars, regardless though, it does take skill to drag, you need to be able to nail your shifts, need to know your engine to know when to push it, be able to keep the car on the track, and any vehicle can have its suspension gutted and replaced, for a factory car the Trak Pak Roush mustang is probably the best handling pony car there is

look up videos of the 427R Trak Pak, its basically a track car street legalized, and clearly sounds like you havent raced anything high powered if thats what youre saying, a full drag car or an Outlaw 10.5 car or a prostreet car even, it does require some skill to maintain the best times possible, and circuit racing gets too repetitive, lap after lap of doing the same thing, cmon a drag gives you a short rush and its the American way, circuits the european way...and drift...well its everyone

Dude, controlling a 800hp+ car on full throttle is no joke. Most of these older model FWD cars can't handle. Hence, if it's not a s2000 or NSX it can't handle. last gen Supra/300zx don't handle any better than the muscle cars made in the same time frame. Which car handles the best is always limited to driver potential.

mustangs have much more potential n/a. anyone who knows anything about cars would know that. because of the displacement. the prelude has more hp per liter stock but the mustang engine leaves a lot on the table to gein aftermarket. you can gain over 100 rwhp on a 5.0 with a basic heads cam intake full exhaust set up. I'm talking any aftermarket aluminum heads, mild cam, etc....you can go from the stock 190 rwhp to over 300 with ease...put ported aftermarket heads and larger cam even more hp

I'm a mustang fan first of all. with that being said the prelude is more advanced in stock form. they do put out more hp per liter but don't have the torque to pull a string out of a cats ass. take a stock h22 prelude and a stock 5.0 mustang...both 5 speed. ecspecially an old lx coupe they're much lighter. now take those cars and put aftermarket heads cam intake and full exhaust on both cars and the mustang will walk away. because the stock heads and shit on mustangs flow horrible

@midnight347 i understand the whole import vs. domestic battle and I agree with what you are saying about valvetrain and top end work but, at the end of the day both the old lx coupe and the prelude weigh within a few hundred lbs, and the argument that alot of people are trying to make is domestics are usually twice the displacement if not more and the numbers are mediocre. in the end its all about efficiency. 2.2 ltr =220bhp 5.0 ltr 320bhp

@blueovalbadboy88 If you really want to put this into perspective, these cars would be in different classes. Especially in a track race, which would be much more even. Four banger vs V8 is going to be a tough race unless you have spent some money. On the circuit its a different story, handling becomes a major factor over WHP. Drag events are leaned much more towards HP and torque, which is obvious the prelude does not have. Although, there are those monster 4 bangers out there spitting 800 hp.

the thing is you just rated a stock 5.0 which has like 225hp. once you put an intake, exhaust, diff pulleys, and a couple more bolt ons. it gains so much horsepower and torque. weight is the big issue but you dont need to do that to a car that has balls. plus its not about hp, its all about torque. which the 302 does, ecspecially at low rpm's because it a pushrod engine. and why do these little motors have a name that has a shitload of numbers and letters like its fancy or something?

Since you don't see that many cars out on the road from 86 you should come over to florida and see all the old muscle riding around, just in my little town there is like 10 fox bodies or more one of those is mine and another ones is my friends oh and my friends 89 mustang has over 300,000 miles more than what your car has and still running strong and both of our 5.0s are real good on gas and im pretty sure no little prelude will step up to our 5.0s.

You are correct i think it's stupid that people get all crazy over other peoples preferences to each their own, no car or should i say types of cars are perfect but some do have advantages or disadvantages than others but like me i like my 5.0 because their is nothing else that compares to that v8 roar when i turn it on and when i stomp on it.

Oh and you were most likely joking when you said that the veyron was perfect but i have to disagree because its 1 million dollars and it sucks on gas big time and its probably to low to drive almost anywhere, in my opinion a car would be perfect when its affordable to all types of people with all types of budgets and it gets pretty good gas mileage something the veyron is far far far far far from.

@98camaro1 That's a Civic, THIS is a Prelude which probably has an 2.2L DOCH Vtec engine with 190HP at the crank stock. Don't know how much that 5.0L has but its not much more that probably 220HP and has more torque.

@LSnSM im just saying. im not hating on these cars. i do like the 2011 mustangs though. its just people with mustangs are too cocky. even chevy guys hate them. everywhere i go, theres some kid in a mustang, revving their engine, or smiling like they're the shit. then i just wax their ass and make them look stupid. some tell me "i have more money under my hood than you car is worth", and tell me its not worth wasting gas. and i still beat them. lol. they're the worst "car enthusiast".

@LSnSM yea well a can have a well built V8 and spend half as much money for a street reliable car. and then you buy the four cylinder and put twice as much money and time into your car then i do and i stil am faster. then after that it comes down to driver skill. and drag racing is where i like to be. the track will tear your car up more then the drag strip does just a fyi

@TheBopop they're easy. no, they were manual. beat them by 3 car, maybe 4. its hard to tell. its a k20 motor swap. makes 200hp at the crank and my car is 2500lbs. 05-09 GT's weigh 1000lbs more with 100hp more at the crank. i think that shows how i can beat them with 184 to the wheels when they make like 260 to the wheels. i even beat this guys who said he had more money under the hood than my car is worth. talked shit and still lost. only beat him by like half a car since i was approaching a car

@AVENGEDgunslinger if you want to talk stock vs stock. 06 SI vs 06 V6 stang, the stang lost. same as 06 RSX-S vs 06 V6 stang. with a few bolt ons, ive seen them beat the 05-09 GT's. 90's honda CRX with a b16 motor might be a good race against the old 5.0 foxbody. im not saying the CRX is swapped either. they came with different motors. if the 99-00 Si came with a b16 with 160hp that runs 15.5 and weighs 2560lbs, what would a 1900lb CRX with a 160hp B16 do? the LX 5.0 is mid 14's.

@joescivic ok the v6 was an economy car. i know people walk around like their v6 is super fast but ricer kids do it to. they act like they have a super nice ricer when it's a 4banger with coffee can, so everyone is guilty. and stock vs stock....so run the BEST rice honda with their ''B16'' or whatever with NO mods against a Same year cobra with no mods and who wins? mustang. the B3000 is a joke. and if u can drop a new engine in a rice then i can go ahead and put a 351 or 427 in my stang an win

@TheBopop im assuming you have a civic and just thinking off the top of my head your civic if it is a 97+ it should wiegh more like 2700 or 2800. and the gt wieghs about 3800. i still dont see you beating him though by 3 or 4 car lengths. especailly with a midly modded civic.

@TheBopop i have a 2000 EX coupe. from the factory, it weighs 2513. the 99-0 Si weighs 2560lbs. the slower models, like DX and HX are much lighter, like 2335lbs and 2370. if it were a 97 DX coupe, it would weigh about 2300lbs as well. and a 96 DX would be even lower, like 2260lbs. you must not know anything about a k20 6spd motor swap can do. in cars like mine, they're easily low 13's. bolt ons to a hatch, and some people are at high 12's with as low as 220-230hp. one ran 12.8 with 214hp 151tq

@TheBopop search "K20 VS 08 GT". the results look exactly like i did. pulld him all the way to 150 MPH and i still had another gear to go. he couldnt accelerate after 150 anyways. that was his limit. ive beaten a modded one as well. i do these races all the time. sure there are faster ones. theres always someone faster, but not stock GT's, unless its the 2011. k20's are no joke. with me being a little over 1000lbs lighter, and more than half the power of those GT's, that there says i will win.
