I've never been to Jerusalem so am having trouble understanding this difference. Is that the dimension of the ruined temple, or is there more land around it? If the latter, then why not build it on other land? Must it absolutely be built on ruins?

Jesus himself stated (to the Samaritan woman at a well) that the time was coming that people would no longer worship at the temple mount. Instead; they would worship the Most High "in spirit and in truth".

He also stated to the Apostles that the temple would be destroyed. It was the YHWH's plan that it be destroyed.

Many people who are christians and long for the temple to be rebuilt on the mount realize the reality of the situation and wonder how it could ever happen given the dome of the rock occupying that site. The Mosque MUST be removed. I believe it will happen in one of two ways; The area has been seismic over the millennia and it could be destroyed this way, which i see as unlikely. for me, a much more likely scenariop involves a direct hit by an errant incoming missile or debris from a missile.

I think you a misinterpreting 2Thes.2:4-- Paul says that believers are the temple of God (1Cor.3:16, 2Cor.6:16, Eph.2:21), so there is no way Paul could be referring to a literal, rebuilt temple in 2Thes.2:4. And Paul is writing when the 2nd temple was still standing. John uses the same word (naos) in Rev.11:1,2--both apostles are referring to the same 'temple', that is, believers. If you get this wrong, you will not be able to properly identify 'the beast' or its 'Mark'. God bless you.
