well, my party consists of Aerie(my love interest), Imoen, Nalia, Minsc, and Jaheira.
and i use tactic on my fight, apply Invisibility on ALL members, turn off AI and scout the area...and applying multiple spells at the same time which usually slay most enemies..and i had tried 3/4 Disintegrate spells at once on a black dragon and shadow dragon which kill it at the first round:) against vampire, cast invisibility on minsc, summon few ...
@HerrKivvy summon few monsters and let Minsc throw the Azuredge(which slay undead at an instant) and the axe will return back to user, the rest of us stay far away until all vampires are dead:)

Bioware will never top BG2 again. And when you look at the pure genius of the game then frankly its nothing to be ashamed of either. It's incredible they could develop a game like that in the first place. It's their magnum opus.

I never played Baldurs Gate without Aerie. She is my absolutely favorite character. I love her story... her history... she is simply such awesome character. My absolutely favorite.
She's not the most powerful mage nor cleric, but who the hell cares? I mean, do you find it difficult to beat the game with her? Hell, the game is soloable. Whenever I pick a party I choose the ones with the best npc interaction, storyline and otherwise awesome character design. Aerie has all of it and more.

can´t forget her sad story how she tryed to save this little boy from the slave traders.... poor aerie :-(... i was never able to play without her.. once i decided to kill her but i loaded the last savegame right after xD

So many people hate Aerie... I think she can be a really powerful asset if you use her right, not to mention I love her romance and character. Sure, she starts out annoying and naive, but that's to be expected with her upbringing... by the end of SoA she's totally different, and that's seen even more in ToB. Some of the best character development in the series.
I don't hate Aerie, she is my romance partner and she fit right in my tactics, as my party has 5 casters + Mincs, and i actually never realise how much i like her until she is almost lure away by another party member;-)
@HerrKivvy although Aerie isn´t that strong because of her dual class (i got the feeling she Jaheira and Jan leveled up a bit slower than for example Minsc) i always played SoA with her in the party cause she´s cute and a good mage and Priest. i´d say as mage she´s about the 3rd Nalia and Edwin are better as Priest too here it is Viconia and Anomen. but in ToB she doesn´t really fit in my party concept. 3frontguys 1of them also heals a thief and 2 damgadealers
@glenboy24 yup, man, i don't get why ppl get so excited about DAO, i don't feel alive playing that "successor", like I was in Baldur's gate having a romance with Aerie just to see her crying, hear her complains ,listening to her voice, most of all, i love the theme.
When I first saw Aerie, I was disgusted by the forehead tattoo. After a while, I perceived that it looks to be a design describing 'chaos into order'. A tragic backstory for someone with the potential for becoming the most powerful Averial Elf, if not all beings upon Toril.
she fucking left me during the underdark(i think), anyway i had to go through a few hours of the game with 5 party members

She's not the most powerful mage nor cleric, but who the hell cares? I mean, do you find it difficult to beat the game with her? Hell, the game is soloable. Whenever I pick a party I choose the ones with the best npc interaction, storyline and otherwise awesome character design. Aerie has all of it and more.

Plain and simple, Aerie rocks.
If not because of some of the encounters with her, then how about her in game abilities? Can handle damage and healing by herself.
