That is uncorrect information...standbys have to be ready in costume in makeup the whole ten yards before the show ever starts. that's the point of a stand by. they are always there. that's the reason they get paid. shoshana bean was idina's standby she was ready to go. the reason they stopped for 45 min was to make sure that everything was safe for the actors and actresses to go back on stage. it takes a lot of things to prep for that show!

Why do some people on here defend the right to sound ignorant by using disgusting, vulgar language that should not even be used in a bedroom? As far as someone who was a catholic, posting to me about being "rude" don't even let me start on my view of the RC church beliefs! I think you might want to do a study on the word "judge" and how it is used in context.
Judgement begins in the house of the Lord. We are to judge with righteous judgement. However, I do realize Idina is most likely not born-again, so the poor language goes with the territory.
We are to not use unrighteous judgments. In other words we are supposed to judge potential actions for ourselves in order to live the word of God. It is not our job to judge the actions of others, that is entirely the territory of God. Again, "the poor language goes with the territory," pure judgment not only of Idina Menzel but of the majority of people in the world who are not bad or wicked or going to Hell. Might I direct you to Matthew 7:3.
it doesn't often happen, but I cannot think of words to describe what I'm feeling right now. while you're having a go at Idina Menzel for not honouring God, it seems to be that you're not honouring Him either! yes as Christians we should be aware of what is right and wrong, but to make sweeping statements and to slight another person's character is hardly following in Jesus' footsteps.

no, I'm living in GOD's world. Swearing only shows how ignorant and rude people can be. She does not need to swear to get any of her points across. Her story got through to me just fine. It would have hurt to fall in a hole. I can flinch at the thought of it, without having to hear all the expletives, can't you? Sheesh! Incidentally, Indina's latest video is rather interesting. I had to ask my 14 year old why she was shedding her clothes through it...I didn't "get it" at first.

I applaud you for writing what you did on a place where there are hundreds of Idina fans. I'm all for limited cussing...I've cussed once in my lifetime and that was when I was singing Hairspray. Anyway although in every interview I hear of her she is cussing, she's an adult and it almost makes her more "humanized." Meaning more personable...and more like you and me.
Well Shoshana Bean (replacement and standby for Idina) took over the role of Elphaba the day of her last show. She played the part mostly and her last scene she was onstage was when she melted. When Fiyero opened the trap, Shoshana didn't come out. Idina came out in a Red Track Suit. At Curtain Call, Joe Mantello made a very special speech for her and went out the Stage DOor for the last time.

yahssis : I totally understand why you would have difficulties with Idina using bad language, as Christian I also would prefer if people generally didn't swear, but they do. for you to bring Idina's character of Maureen isn't only completely pointless, but you're giving the impression that you are judging Idina and I don't believe you have the authority to do that. you may not agree with everything she says/does but you should love her anyway.

I think you might want to do a study on the word "judge" and how it is used in context.
Judgement begins in the house of the Lord. We are to judge with righteous judgement. However, I do realize Idina is most likely not born-again, so the poor language goes with the territory.

We are to not use unrighteous judgments. In other words we are supposed to judge potential actions for ourselves in order to live the word of God. It is not our job to judge the actions of others, that is entirely the territory of God. Again, "the poor language goes with the territory," pure judgment not only of Idina Menzel but of the majority of people in the world who are not bad or wicked or going to Hell. Might I direct you to Matthew 7:3.

it doesn't often happen, but I cannot think of words to describe what I'm feeling right now. while you're having a go at Idina Menzel for not honouring God, it seems to be that you're not honouring Him either! yes as Christians we should be aware of what is right and wrong, but to make sweeping statements and to slight another person's character is hardly following in Jesus' footsteps.

Cuss words are just that: words. Take an "I don't give a damn" pill and GET OVER IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! While you're at it, think about how God would want you to treat Idina. It doesn't matter if Idina is born-again or not. God made her, and He still loves her, no matter what. He would want us to love her, too. You have faults of your own, but God still loves you. Think about that the next time you start to judge someone!

ok when you're quoting that Scripture, apply it to your life. living out your faith isn't about judging people and putting them down, there is a way of compassionately encouraging in what you consider the right way to live. take the plank out of your eye. Idina has stated on other occasions that she's looking for something, and I'm praying she'll find Peace. but I also pray that negativity from people like you doesn't put her off.

I'm assuming that, despite some strange ideas that you're a follower of Christ. now, if you read your Bible you'll see that Jesus not only tolerated but befriended prostitutes, thieving tax collectors, and even had compassion on the man who he knew would be responsible for handing him over to be executed. while you shouldn't have to tolerate other people's rudeness, neither should they have to tolerate yours.

I am a Catholic so I know that there are certain things in that some religions are against, like swearing and being a lesbian, but there are different religions and different cultures. You have to be a bit more open minded and think about all those who don't have a religion.

First of all, I AM NOT RELIGIOUS! I find it extremely offensive to be considered religious. Religion means "return to bondage" and I am not bound.

no, I'm living in GOD's world. Swearing only shows how ignorant and rude people can be. She does not need to swear to get any of her points across. Her story got through to me just fine. It would have hurt to fall in a hole. I can flinch at the thought of it, without having to hear all the expletives, can't you? Sheesh! Incidentally, Indina's latest video is rather interesting. I had to ask my 14 year old why she was shedding her clothes through it...I didn't "get it" at first.

I know you don't like cussing & I respect that, but get over it. Idina is who she is & she likes her cuss words. That's one of the things I love most about her. She doesn't try to be perfect & she doesn't try to be someone she's not. She is who she is. She's a human being. She's allowed to have some flaws. Let the woman be herself. Don't criticize her. If she met you, she may not particularly like some of the things you say and do. Life is better when we learn to love everyone for who they are.

I applaud you for writing what you did on a place where there are hundreds of Idina fans. I'm all for limited cussing...I've cussed once in my lifetime and that was when I was singing Hairspray. Anyway although in every interview I hear of her she is cussing, she's an adult and it almost makes her more "humanized." Meaning more personable...and more like you and me.

Well Shoshana Bean (replacement and standby for Idina) took over the role of Elphaba the day of her last show. She played the part mostly and her last scene she was onstage was when she melted. When Fiyero opened the trap, Shoshana didn't come out. Idina came out in a Red Track Suit. At Curtain Call, Joe Mantello made a very special speech for her and went out the Stage DOor for the last time.
