Think how many times Carlos has played this song! He would be a hack if he did not experiment with new arrangements and musicians. You must remember this concert was in Mexico City. He gave them something "fresh" but in keeping with a popular trend in latin music at the time. But, then, SANTANA STARTED this kind of popular rock music.

This guy is one of the true geniuses of the modern music era.He has been doing his thing for over 40 years and he just keeps going - creating music , looking to innovate and inspire.It may be argued that other guitarist are more technically adept than Carlos but most of them do not have his creativity or musical gifts. I am sure in about a hundred years when people look back to see who's music inspired in this field , I am sure his name will mentioned - I am not so sure about some of the others.

They cannot be compared as one better than the other. "Greatest" is a matter of opinion and I heard both live. As great and innovative as Jimi was there is nothing that he did that ever left Carlos in the dust technically or innovatively.
