how did u get her to do everything u say my puppy will always follows me everywhere if i tell him to stay he will come rite to my feet sometimes i even trip on him cuz he is so attached to me and he is already 8 weeks old so i don't know wat to do HELP ME
I think its a very cool and original name :) Very cute and smart puppy! I will be using these techniques next week when I get my new puppy named Karma. Thanks for the tips! look forward to seeing the other training videos!
I tried the treat on the paw with my retriever (he is older (6 years), and he did very well with it, for a dog who has never had training. He belonged to my step-daughter (my husband got him for her) but she doesn't live with us and left him to be here & she doesn't ever see him, so he is mine now. They never tried teaching him anything. So he is doing well with me trying at the age he is.
The treat acts as a secondary reinforcement. The "good girl" is the primary reinforcement. There is nothing wrong with training this way. We can be much quicker with our words than we can with treats.
The tapping is basically teaching the puppy to continue holding until she is giving the cue "give". So, no matter what happens while holding... whether we're walking, I'm tapping on the dumb bell, moving my hand in front of her face, holding/shaking the dumb bell as it's in her mouth... she continues to hold. The only time she is to release it, is on the "give" cue. It's basically proofing the hold.
hahaha its halirious when da puppy turns da light switch bak on again and lady is all like "wait were done, were done, okay okay come here!!" hehehe dats some funny stuff :D
She's beautiful, when I train my pup (lab x kelpie) she goes crazy at just the hint of a smell of food. She's so relaxed!

Doesn't the dog become dependent on the treats?

Ricochet looks like she is doing well with her training. I love how happy she is to turn on the lights and to unzip the zipper!

What type of treats are you using? I'm having trouble finding one that my pup likes and that he can eat quickly.

What's the purpose of tapping while holding the dumbell just curious?
