  • Evangelicals take an interest in jews and support for israel in the interests of converting jews. No one does something for nothing. The israel lobby does not give millions to elected officials that dont vote their way.

  • Yes, Jews can believe in Jesus. All of the early Christians were Jewish - Peter, Paul, John, etc. were all Jews who believed in Jesus. Jesus was also Jewish. And lots of Jews believe in Jesus today. They're often referred to as Messianic Jews. I met a very nice lady who is a Messianic Jew. Then there's Jews for Jesus and Chosen People - groups that are comprised of Messianic Jews. So yes, Jews can believe in Jesus because lots of them do.

  • mice for cats

  • Do not 'can' but 'must' in affirmative setence. All jews must believe in YESHUA.

  • Actually if you continue in the story of David... you will find he was punished by God, look at the family as well

  • What about when King David committed adultery and then sent the woman's husband to the front of the army to be killed? Didn't he deserve to be stoned according to his abomination for laying with a married woman??

  • There will be some jews that are grafted back in in the future days of division when choices are made in the panic of worsening world turmoil.

The Jews that are saved are the ones who come to realise or have secretly felt that God is Love not Baal the god of force or punisher but God who took the blame in life for satans and mans doings as thats his nature for he is the preist, the sacrifice,The red heifer, the blood on the doorpost, the Lord God,Director of Angels,Son of GOD the Father...

  • you are right rabbi, evolution totaly passed you by, even a monkey has more logic than you

  • having heard the rabbi i question the verse hear o israel the lord is one. obviously one why would I think not one? unless there is a pluralism. and moses believed in that pluralism expalining it was united.

  • I am a Christian and my death if some one "Jewish fanatic and terrorist" want to kill me, I want to be crucified with my heads down!!!!

People like this guy with hate and arrogance, ignorance are the one who brings hate into mans heart and are responsible for all the wars on world!!!!!!!!!

JEWS THAT ARE LIKE THIS MAN, MUST REPENT! ONE DAY I WANT TO SEE THEIR FACE INTO GODS JUDGMENT ON FINAL DAY.

I WISH THAT GOD SAVES ME FROM THE BLOOD OF THIS GENERATION SIN IN THE NAME OF JESUS CHRIST AMEN.

  • When the Jewish War was lost, the Rabbis began their modern Judaism, but in their

establishment of religion they proclaimed everlasting hatred towards the sect of the

Christians. So they began with a curse on a sect that was very small, and powerless against the Jews. Then as Rome killed the Christians for three hundred years, the Jews did not sympathize, and they probably felt validated by the death of Christians. And though the Jews lost to pagan Rome, they projected hate upon Christians

  • It is a great tragedy of history that the Jews lost their homeland to the pagan empire of Rome. But to attempt to install the blame on Christians is problematic. Just because over two thousand years there were numerous conflicts, in which Jews ended up a minority and losing, that does not mean their wanderings and sufferings in the world, before God has to be blamed on Christians , who in Europe had barely been barbarians, in the wake of the fall of Rome. They lost to Rome, not to Jesus.

  • The Jews came into hard times, not because of the Christians or because of Jesus, but because they warred against Rome and they took a chance, and lost to the greatest empire of the age. The entire issue of conflict between Christians and Jews is a coincidence, not a core theme to history. A world without Jesus, or the Christians would not have changed the misfortunes of the Jews. All we have to do is back up time to 70 A.D. and see that Jesus and the Christians had nothing to do with it.

  • Dear Rabbi. JESUS said: I AM THE WAY THE TRUE AND THE LIGHT. NO ONE COMES TO THE FATHER BUT MY ME.

  • @lakeoffire77 Slight correction, He actually said, "I am the Way, THE TRUTH, and THE LIFE..." But you got the right idea, keep the faith! :)

  • @mickdukes Hi, Thanks for the slight correction. You have a nice spirit. Keep the faith as well. Read: Acts 2:38 and BE SAVED**. Shalom!!!

  • @lakeoffire77 No problem! Acts is a great book... Aleichem shalom!

  • Be encouraged believers of Yeshua the messiah!

  • Rabbi Shmuley Jesus did in fact teach that actions are more important. Read the parable of the "Good Samaritan". In the parable the Samaritan is the righteousness man even though he was the pagan in the story. The religious leaders were not righteousness because they did not show love to the man in need.

  • Who listens to this SCUM? He stole $250,000++ from HEAL THE KIDS FOUNDATION, it was proven coz it showed up in his wife's IRS. He is also prohibited from having his own pulpit in the UK after the British Charitable Commission investigated him for fraud. The commission accused Boteach of using funds for the Oxford L'Chaim Society there for an expensive home. The L'Chaim Society of Oxford has since changed its name and disassociated itself with Boteach. SHMULEY BOTEACH is an EVIL FRAUD!

  • AV247, Its not that he has NERVE. Christisans just don't know how to defend their faith. All they do is try to add non original concepts to the Bible.

  • Grace is part of the Law that's why all the sacrificial Law for forgiveness of sons exist in the law. We are often told that the sacrifice of animal is just symbolic but does not really replace us . But I was listening a message from the Chief rabbi telling that the animal in fact takes our place in the punishment...as a sign of grace toward us this is great act of love from G-d toward us. And that was not a Christian message but an orthodox Jewish one.

  • Grace is with love the central points of Torah. There's a misconception among many Christians as well as Jews and others who believe that grace is opposed to the Law.

  • Can't you find us a better rabbi to speak about this issue? He evades the issues and mixes all things. The Christians said repentance cannot be before receiving grace . They say faith without action=deed is dead. The rabbi just doesn't stand water find us another one.

  • i thought that jew was going to kick his ass. U know sound more logic that faith is not just words but action if u keep commendments doing the right thing for loving god for sake of the lord that it means truly your faith is tooo high like smoking weed.

  • This was not a good debate for Schmuley.

  • yah, i feel sorry for him, he got basically owned!

  • you say Jesus never claimed lol i have a whole list for you to point out

Jesus his Word: if you do not Bevieve that I AM then you will die in your Sins

i and the Father are one , the Father is in me and I AM in the Father,

I AM the way the truth and the Life

I AM the bread of Life ( source of life )

My kingdom is not of this World,

You will see the Son of Men coming with his Glory on the Clouds of heaven.

  • jewish hypocrisy direct live.

  • SMH @ Shmuley Boteach with his symantic gotcha games

  • No can't watch any more! Its like children arguing over comic books.

'My superhero takes your ones power'.

'We'll mine just beats yours and is most popular'.

'And they don't even have a superhero! They think their just silly monkeys!!'.

  • Muslims believe Jesus(Peace be upon him) was the messiah for the Jews, however Jesus (PBUH) never claimed Divinity. it was a mistranslation.

  • No it was the printing press. The W was inverted so ever word containing a W actually appeared to contain an M in its place!

imagine that! God almighty's words corrupted by a mere printing press!!!

  • what does that have to do with anything?

  • Simply just the greatest re-discovery mankind has ever known!!!

Just that all Christian interpretations of the printed bible are wrong!!!

...And all because of a simple mistake made by a humble print worker!

Its biblical in proportions. A revelation I tell you.

  • great Actors. beware

  • Leviticus 17:11: "For the soul of the flesh is in the blood and I have assigned it for you upon the altar to provide atonement for your souls; for it is the blood that atones for the soul." the passage that this verse comes from is not about atonement; it is about dietary laws, and the passage says only that blood is used to obtain atonement; not that blood is the only means for obtaining atonement.

  • No. Although animal sacrifice is one means of obtaining forgiveness, there are non-animal offerings as well, and there are other means for obtaining forgiveness that do not involve sacrifices at all. The Biblical book of Jonah tells of an entire community condemned to destruction that was forgiven when they simply repented and fasted, without ever offering any sacrifice, blood or otherwise. (Jonah 3)

  • Forgiveness is obtained through repentance, prayer and good deeds. In Jewish practice, prayer has taken the place of sacrifices. In accordance with the words of Hosea, we render instead of bullocks the offering of our lips (Hosea 14:3) While dedicating the Temple, King Solomon also indicated that prayer can be used to obtain forgiveness (I Kings 8:46-50). Our prayer services are in many ways designed to parallel the sacrificial practices

  • We stopped offering sacrifices because we do not have a proper place to offer them. The Torah specifically commands us not to offer sacrifices wherever we feel like it; we are only permitted to offer sacrifices in the place that G-d has chosen for that purpose. Deut. 12:13-14. It would be a sin to offer sacrifices in any other place, akin to stealing candles and wine to observe Shabbat.

  • Yeah the "Antichrist" will build the third temple. Bull. the messiah will build it and will be called the antichrist. how conveinent. They say this because they want people to reject the actual messiah in jesus's stead because his messiahship is a hoax and coverup. Ok tell you what. When jesus appears in the sky and snatches up half the world Ill renounce my faith. Lets see what happens.

  • Yeah I saw it also and I disagree. Rav Schmuley Did not lose. And Michael Brown didn't convince me. Sorry. So as far as I'm concearned Brown hasn't accomplished what he set out to do.

  • So I can rape and eat a baby and feel sorry for it, Accept jesus and feel a little sorry and go to heaven. But if I'm a devout Jew who hasnt has repented through Hashem for mild trangressions I'm going to hell... The christian god seems kind of like a bastard to me...

  • i was at this debate and shumley lost big...why he debates brown is beyond me.....why he is distributing this tape is way beyond me....may he is just beside himself...what ever the case is...yes i want all non believers in Yshua look up all the citations made and towards the Q&A im the first person asking the quesiton.

    Good luck!

  • Leviticus 5 11 (KJV) But if he be not able to bring two turtledoves, or two young pigeons, then he that sinned shall bring for his offering the tenth part of an ephah of fine flour for a sin offering; he shall put no oil upon it, neither shall he put any frankincense thereon: for it is a sin offering. -Oh look, bread as an offering. Whats this? Has a christian fundie ignored jewish scripture and taken other out of context? At least your consistent.

  • Comment removed

  • Mistranslation. This refers to dietary laws. Can you read Hebrew? Ill read tyhe hebrew for you real quick. Basically when paraphrased this verse actually says Leviticus 17:10-12 could be paraphrased as "Don't eat blood, because blood is used in atonement rituals; therefore, don't eat blood. There you go. Ill get the ACTUAL verse and well give that a go.

  • Nope. this is a dietary law. Out of context.

  • the 3rd temple will be for antichrist. he will be lagged with "flying saucers." they are piloted by fallen agels.

  • Comment removed

  • Wrong. Sacrifices were no lomger necessary after the ALMOST destruction of the second temple. now there is a day for atonement. Yom Kippur. Blood sacrifice is not required by G-d. Study up on actual Jewish scripture and don't read it out of the christian bible next time you want to debate Jewish law schmuck.

  • It's also ironic that Christians and Jews think good deeds are important and human morality comes from GOD. If morality is an awareness and concern for human happiness versus suffering, how can morality come from a GOD that condones slavery and genocide according to the Bible?

  • Man, you really should read the Bible before you make ridiculous statements. Get a KJV Bible, read your 'slavery condoning verses' in context. Genocide? You are just making up stuff now. Thou shall not murder, Judge not lest you be judged, Love thy neighbor with all thy heart and soul. Come on man, seriously, get a Bible, don't just believe whatever half wit tells you. Read it for yourself. P.S. It says 'servant' not slave, and it was indentured servitude, one would work 6 years, 7th set free.

  • gbvegeta - Here's some examples of either God committing genocide or encouraging the Israelites to do it:

God drowns every living breathing thing - Genesis 6

God kills everyone in Sodom & Gomorrah - Genesis 19

God kills all firstborn Egyptian children - Exodus 12

Don't forget about Deuteronomy; it's full of God's approval of genocide committed by the Israelites. Sorry I couldn't list all the genocide in just 500 characters. Maybe you could just read your Bible for yourself. Thanks

  • God created everything and everyone, he will judge us when we die, and he has judged us before. Sodom and Gomorrah, God said he would spare the city if they could find 5 righteous men. Genocide can only be committed by men. Are you so angry at God? All you have to do is repent for your sins and you will be saved from judgment. God is wrathful yes, but he became a man and lived without sin, and died for us, he sacrificed himself for us.

  • gbvegeta - Santa Claus created everything and everyone. All you have to do is repent for your sins and ask Santa for forgiveness and you can spend eternity at the north pole eating cookies and cake. WTF? God is a myth, but Santa is real. Please don't make Santa angry by denying His chubby existence; that's the only thing Santa won't forgive you for.

    :o

  • god is a proven and required entity. all the evidence says so.

  • Morality is between you and God. Love thy God with all thy heart and all thy soul, and love thy Neighbor with all thy heart and all thy soul. You are scoffing at God, not me.

  • As an atheist, I don't believe in God or Jesus, but I think it's interesting that even the Jews don't think Jesus was the messiah. If Jesus wasn't just a myth, wasn't he supposedly a Jew? If Jesus was real, going around performing miracles and came back to life after being crucified, wouldn't the Jews have witnessed all this and therefore know of Christ's divinity? The fact that Jews don't equate Jesus with God leads me to think Jesus was probably just a myth.

  • Repentence and Faith are one. New Birth=New Life.

    -Till Christ Returns

    God Bless

  • Jesus was a hebrew but he was not part of that specific sect called "jews". It's part of the age-old jewish brainwashing program to claim jesus as a jew just like they tried to convince everyone that Hitler was a jew. The intention is to make the enemy of the jews impotent by claiming their greatest leader.

  • "the essentials christianity"? says who? lol

  • How can talking about God change anything? Those who preach these messages are making money off those who are to lazy to see the truth.

  • very good

  • Tadeu Reisenberger.

The rabbi scream too much,I now many rabbi nows Yeshua is Rabbi too, maybe and if his now the rules about Judaism Yeshua is not crazy too sad I am son of God, Yeshua is very good Rabbi and he still has a lot love if the people believe oh not his is The Messiah. And I invitle you to try his love and your life, can you see the Pastor never loose his control. Can you asking someting why?

  • lol, michael brown is an idiot. and i totally agree that the chiristian idea of acceptance to heaven, and thus their view on morality, is completely messed up. They claim this high moral ground knowing man is imperfect, then just say believing in jesus will absolve you of your sins. so by that logic, its ok to sin as long as you believe in jesus. that is no morality, only a concept that is convenient for appealing to the masses for the sake of control.

  • @tarkana613.... Christians do not believe that it's OK to sin - on the contrary. Because He has forgiven us we don't want to sin any longer. Ask Jesus to show you if He is the Son of God with a pure heart and He will. Then you will understand the amazing grace and beauty of the Gospel message and the POWER of THE RISEN MESSIAH - JESUS!l

  • I see confused comments!

Rabbi yells too much; in a bad way.

see a good yeller, Bill Haag, he is happy and smiling.

  • The Rabbi yells and screams too much. It was painful to listen to him as he sounded full of rage and anger.

  • Humans are over 100,000 years old.

    God knows the future.

That means that God waited 100,000 years while sending human (e.g., Abraham, Israel, etc.) to HELL and then He committed suicide. All of this because of snacking on an Apple.

    makes sense.

  • its not as simple as that

  • michael got owned.

  • Did Rabbai Shmuley just compare Jesus to Abu Musab Al Zarqawi ?

  • Not neccessarily. God elects some to the faith from all nations. That's why you'll find some followers of Yahuah in American, some in Canada, some in India, some in Pakistan, some in china etc.

  • While it's true Torah observance is mandatory for the remission of sins, and a moral life is mandatory for forgiveness, yet if there had been a law that would save us from the penalty of sin(death), then life from death would have come by the law. But even The Torah says that Yah would raise up a prophet like unto Moses, and that Israel must obey him or not be forgiven! Yahshua said, "This is eternal life that they might know you, and messiah whom you have sent." Obey the law by accept Yahshua

  • Why there is no prophet in the present jewish world as it was in Torah days?

  • yeah thats the proper questions that lead to truth brother nice.

i am under a prophet myself today and yes he has seen the old prophets and even yeshua.

justlike the old prophets moving in the spirit and not interlectual geusing only.

the role of prophets is still around and when jews come to know jesus they get to know them.

but remember that the covenant in yeshua is supirior to the old covenant sooooooooooo we know God for ourselfs olso.ezekiel 36:26-27

  • The first church was found in Rome?

  • Man is this guy a schmuck!!! The Stick...

  • who cares what "books" Michael Brown wrote or writes. Gods Word is Truth, Jesus Christ is Truth. Michael Brown did not die for Mankinds Sins, Jesus Christ did

  • I dare any Jew to see the debate between Rabbi and Missionary. These Jews that go to all the different cults only do soo because they are completly ignorant of the Torah and Judaism.

The Debate is available at Torahanytime (dot) com. Under Rabbi Mizrachi. It is called "the debate, Rabbi vs. Chrisitian"

  • We can never pay for our salvation,it is a Gift of God.

  • The good Rabbi knows about a lot God, he has just never met Him personally.

  • How do the Jews have their sins covered now that they no longer sacrifice animals, because God always demanded the blood of animals?

  • Some of us do. The Jews of Ethiopia were still sacrificing goats into the 1980's. But that's because they were isolated from the doctrines of the last 2000 years.

Nowadays we atone in the following ways:

    1. Make a sincere pledge to avoid repeating the wrongs we do.

    2. Pay for the damage we do in any way we can.

    3. Money-giving "tzedakah" is an important part of Judaism, but often misinterpreted. Some Jews give huge piles of cash to charity but don't concern themselves about where it's going.

  • But is this according to the Books of Moses?

  • Repentance is discussed heavily in Leviticus and in further chapters.

  • God has always demanded a blood sacrifice for sin as well as repayment for damages.Jesus took care of the sacrifice if you'll just accept His free gift.

  • Does Shmuley think he's good enough to win G-d's approval based on his own righteousness? That seems to be what he's saying, but the Bible clearly teaches that none of us are righteous.

  • Shmuley rocks!!!

  • Do you mean Shmuley sucks?

  • @jasonchavez Somebody pray for this fellow. And the rabbi too.

  • Rabbi Shmuley seems to be ignorant concerning the early Church. The first Church was not the Roman Catholic Church it was the Apostolic Church that was made up of tens of thousands of Jews. I wish that he would not speak for the Church concerning doctrine because even the Protestant Church is not the Apostolic Church. I am a Messianic Jew in Toledo OH and I was asked not to come to the Chabad House because of my belief in Yeshua Ha Mashiakh. It had nothing to do with righteousness.

  • It is interesting that a Rabbi can see the problem of sola fide, but Christians who believe in that false doctrine can't. That is why one Catholic apologist said being Catholic is as Jewish you can be.

  • God conciders faith, better than good works however there is no faith without good works, so good works without faith (most world people)

there is no glory for God.

Gen 15:6 And he believed in the LORD; and he counted it to him for righteousness.

  • I couldnt find your comment on the string so i am just putting this out there. Paul was a Pharisee, and Joseph of Aramathea was a Pharisee. They are not the cosmic enemy. Jesus forgave everyone involved on the cross, christians should follow his example.

  • Matthew 7:21 "Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter into the kingdom of heaven -- only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven. 7:22 On that day, many will say to me, 'Lord, Lord, didn't we prophesy in your name, and in your name cast out demons and do many powerful deeds?' 7:23 Then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you. Go away from me, you lawbreakers!'

  • Jesus said to the thief on the cross who repented "Today (Present tense) you will be with me in paradise" (Luke 23:43).

  • his prerogative.

  • true, though it still leaves hope for those who believe, repent and do no deeds besides confession.

  • I think Shmuley is great.

  • Rabbi Shamomy has one screeching, annoying voice, which makes it impossible for his listeners to continue listening.

  • Your being Jewish etc isnt it. you have to believe. It was ment 1st for the Jew. The msg and its meaning was rejected. accept the msg/meaning and you are a Jewish Christian, just like Paul, etc.

  • Jesus himself said he and his father are one and he doesnt concider it robbery to be equall to him, but he loves him as a son to his father and obeys him.

  • Jesus also said to his disciples " we are one " so wat are tryin to say ?

  • he said that meaning in one mind and accord...even the old test. says that his own people will reject him as messiah and God. From what I understand they are still waiting for the Messiah to come

  • the jews believes the jewish messiah will be victorious messiah so when they heard that jesus was crucified, they said He cant be the messiah..whats interesting the Qur'an states when Jesus put on Cross, he didnt really die but it was appeared to them (jews), why does the quran says that becoz jesus messiah he shouldnt die !!

  • According to ISaiah, the true prophet sent by god, the Messiah would die for mankind's sin. He would be bruised, tortured, pierced, and killed. Your quran tells dirty lies.

  • arabianlover, Jesus yet died, he arose himself to life, so thats why if he didn't die he can't rise from dead, making him in control of death even for us, and his death is to fulfill the blood scarifies for removing the penalty of(death)sin (which you don't believe), so in other word, he sanctified our sins by his blood, and rose from dead to give us full assurance that he has control over our life and death. So thats how he is alive now, not by mean that he didn't die.

  • if jesus really die on the cross then he cant be the messiah, thats what the OT says, and if he died then you need to prove to me with evidences that he rose from the dead, keep in mind that none of his disciples attended his " crucifxtion " they fled

  • Where do you get that. John, who wrote the book of Revelation was standing right there.

  • Read Mark 14:43-52, all the disciples left him and ran away.

  • They fled at the Garden Gethsamane when the romans took Yahshua...His discples were un-able in your mind to therefore attend his crucifixion a day later? Strange logic friend.

  • none of the Twelve even attended to Jesus' body. At a time when trustworthiness could have endangered them, all the disciples failed.

  • The Scribes and Pharisees in the day of Yashua were gnashing their teeth at him. Why? Because he was healing on the Sabbath. He was teaching in their synagogue, and he was claiming his divinity to the Father. This was all prophecy as it is written, " they hated me without cause." The Jews have rejected the true Messiah just as they rejected God when they were brought out of Egypt and dwelt in the Sinai region.

  • this shmuley dude shouts too much.....sshhhh!!

  • he shouts because that's what happens when you feel emotional. when someone is callig you spiritually inferior, you'll get angry, you'll become animated. his voice is perfectly appropriate

  • according to christians : anne frank is burning in hell right now forever, along with the other six million jews murdered by the nazis whose antisemitism, while secular, was directly influenced by thirteen centuries of christian antisemitism

  • Jared,

That is the most pathetic answer i have seen...

All people are in their graves waiting for the resurrection to then be judged by G-D...

So please get your facts straight before you make such statements...

  • first of all, don't try to sound jewish by saying G hyphen D. second, you are pathetic. my statement is completely on parr with christan opinion. hitler could be basking in Go'd s presence right now, had he said "jesus is my savior", and converted to christianity before he died.

  • Jared,

    you wrote:

my statement is completely on parr with christan opinion.

    my response:

Your statement,Jared,is on par with FALSE CHRISTIANS OPINIONS...for TRUE Believers in Yeshua will keep the feasts mentioned in Vayyikra 23 as well as the weekly shabbat.

Futhermore, a deathbed "confession" has no meaning unless it is accompanied with the intent from the heart.

  • Jared, i'm almost positive Hitler was not a bit remorseful for anything he did. his master was not the Father or Jesus. he was a servant of evil and that is where he remains.

  • christians contradict themselves on so many levels. they say that "you can't save yourself, you need to accept jesus". but that very act of "accepting jesus" is something that YOU must do, you make that act of "accepting", therefore you are in power. just one of many christian contradictions

  • You don't make any sense.

  • all died in adam all are raised in christ my christian belief...

  • you have to ask to recive

  • thats getting too nuanced. the door doesnt open for you, everyone needs to knock.

  • Romans 11 says it all.

  • Shmuley and Brown are both competent debators for certain.. why deny it. However.. the one difference: Brown really knows what judaism is.. Shmuley doesnt understand Christianity. Thats a fact.

  • Both of them don't know about the true Christianity! This debate is pointless!

  • does it matter if he's yelling? no, because the way a man gets his point across shows how passionate he is about the subject. rabbi shmuley is an intelligent man. michael brown, on the other hand, is stupid. around 7 minutes, shmuley shows how amazing judaism is.

  • Ummm, he sure didn't show that to me. He needs a to take a deep breath and calm down. yelling doesn't equate to passion. It shows me he feels he needs to yell to sound more believeble but it has the opposite effect.

  • Yashua is the true sacrifice, the unblemished lamb that was sacrificed for the world. Since then the Jews have stopped animal sacrifice. Even at his crucifiction the temple curtain was torn from the top down thus making a way for those who believe in him to enter into the Holy of Holies which before only the high priest could go. Yashua is the High Priest and author of eternal life for those who believe in him.

  • Part III of IV -- Continued: Oops, out of order!

If the Truth turns out to be that only Muslims will have God's acceptance and that everyone else will have to suffer-a-bit, before also being accepted; so be it! And if the Truth turns out to be something totally different and that some other faith has "exclusivity" in the eyes of God; so be it as well!

  • Part I of III

I wish the world could be a place in which, we simply accept and love one-another.

Perhaps, God is a God of "super-exclusivity" as many Christians, Jews and Muslims believe. If so, only a handful, select faithful will ever enjoy God's eternal love. What of the "others?" We share this globe, also with, Hindu's, Buddhists, Taoists and many others and in views of the "exclusive" folks, everybody else will simply parish, go to hell, cease to exist, etc.

  • Part II of III -- Continued:

I choose to just simply accept everyone and let God decide what is to come!

If the Truth turns out to be that it has been, all along a Jewish play in which, everyone else on this globe, plays the role of an expendable "extra;" so be it! If the Truth turns out to be that, only certain Christians will enjoy God's Love and that everyone else will be eternally tortured; so be it!

  • Friend, everyone else on this globe has their own covenant with God, the seven laws of Noah, which is their guideline to a perfect harmony with their Creator. They are not expendable, they are central; for example, it is our tradition (of many) during Passover to show respect for the death of the Egyptians who God drowned during the Exodus by pouring ten drops of wine (as if blood).

  • Dont talk to me about tradition, what does the Tanakh say? i'm not concerned with traditions. If you would read acts during the portion of the Jerusalem counsel Paul outlines the Laws of Noah instead of converting the Gentiles to Judaism.

  • Why do you believe in the Noachide Laws, which are a TRADITION not found in the written text of Genesis or anywhere else in the Tanakh? Several passages in the Tanakh affirm the existence of the Oral Law, such as Exodus 18:1-27. Several key sections of the Christian Bible itself also only make sense in light of Talmudic precepts, such as Matthew 12.

  • The Talmud has some useful things inside of it. But it doesn't belong on par with the Tanakh. Why would you find a book authoritative that is preoccupied with menstrual cycles, sentencing people to hell in boiling semen, and rabbi's granting people entrance into heaven? seriously are you kidding me?

  • By the way, if the Talmud says that or not has nothing to do with how I observe my Judaism, which is in line with its being metaphorical.

  • I'm not feeling you on the Genesis 18 example. Abraham was not eating a kosher meal for one thing. and i know its a retelling by Moses, but in Abraham's time there couldnt have been an oral torah because the written had not been revealed yet. so maybe i need some clarification.

  • Sorry, it was Exodus 18:1-27. You are noting the two major types of "literature" in the Talmud; the first is law and the second is a category whose main purpose is literary and is not often meant to be understood literally, such as the boiling semen example. The first is of no matter to you because you don't have to keep those laws and the second is metaphorical. I'm sure Christianity has similar elements.

  • Christianity does have its own form of tradition, but against the intent of the Gospels. Men's interpretations can get in the way, and my salvation is my own. for that reason i study the scripture myself and if what a learned man says is against what i've read in the scripture, i dont listen to them.

  • How much talk can Christians seriously generate about Christianity? I ask this tongue-in-cheek because I know that the answer is "a lot." As the world changes you need an oral tradition to guide you if you are stay in line with the spirit. For instance, Christianity's approach to homosexual today versus 1,000 years ago is a valid discussion in Christian thought -- you call it discourse, we call it oral tradition. Mind you, our oral tradition doesn't say a word without the Tanakh's approval.

  • The book of Leviticus disapproves of homosexual activity of the priests. If a priest can't do it surely the congregation can't do it either. Sodom and Gamorrah was destroyed for that type of behavior. i dont need a tradition to tell me its wrong. Be fruitful and multiply. Things that are as true now as they were when they were penned.

  • Or maybe the world gets out of line with the word? people of God are set apart for a reason. the Word is eternal, what it says about homosexuality 5000 or 2000 years ago applies today because God does not change. i can go to the scripture myself, without a priest standing over my shoulder and find guidance there myself.

  • Part IV of IV -- Final:

We should accept one-another, learn to love one-another and stop trying to define (and stop trying to "own") God by our own biases, weaknesses, fears and petty emotions. The world is the mess that it is today, partially because of our dogged insistence on focusing only on our differences and how much better we think we are, than everybody else.

  • this guy needs to calm down

  • Rabbi Shmuley showed him up, Baruch Hashem! Judaism believes that both faith+action are essentials in living with G-d. However, the human mind is frail and deviates from faith, while righteous action can bring it back. May this Michael fellow return to Judaism.

  • Mazel Tov ... You just quoted from the New Testament " Faith without works is dead " James 2:20

  • Interesting. Most people agree that in Christianity, faith trumps works, and others would say that faith has replaced the need for works. IF that is true then Christianity is solely a faith-based religion and therefore a dead religion.

  • its not quite that simple, you do good works because you are saved not because you need to be saved. the influence of God makes you more apt to do good works.

  • I don't agree; why would I have to pay someone back if he has already covered my entire debt? What Christians call "good works" we know to actually be COMMANDMENTS. You have to keep commandments too, but only the seven Noahide commandments.

  • I know the laws of Noah. You dont do good things because you want a reward. You do them because you should do them regardless of whether you get a reward or not. and while you do good works you honor the second most important commandment, love your neighbor as yourself.

  • We keep the commandments because we have to, not because they will get us a reward, and who even says that they will? Your error is the thought that all commandments have to be related to ethics, which is not true; some have no explanation known to man other than they have been commanded, such as keeping kosher.

  • You can now see why Kosher laws are a good thing because of trichanosis in pork.

  • Right, so if pig meat was found to be free of trichinosis then it would be kosher? What about all of the other prohibited foods that the Tanakh lists? We can also assume that Jesus kept kosher.

  • I'm sure Jesus kept Kosher. One of the largest failings of christianity was divorcing itself from its roots. none of the apostles would have stood for such a thing. and anti-semitism is anti-christ, it blows my mind that every one of our theologans was a Jew with the exception of maybe one, and there was such anti semitism.
