  • @AmericaSucksLol The guy who invented the dymaxion sleep schedule, buckminster fuller lived to be 88. He was on the dymaxion sleep schedule for 2 years with no negative side effects. Also, the extra time you gain from the schedule, depending on how long you do it, can be equivalent to several years. Buckminster in the 2 years he was on the dymaxion sleep schedule, gained an entire year of being conciously awake vs. an ordinary sleep schedule. It clearly not the same thing as sleep deprivation.

  • Hi! I am trying Polyphasic Sleep and recording all my results, and how I'm feeling. I am specifically doing the Dymaxion Sleep Schedule(2hours a day) which is every 6 hours, you sleep for 30minutes. I discuss tips that I have found out from experience that can make the experience way easier to accomplish! Sorry if you call this spam, I thought that if your watching Polyphasic Sleep videos on youtube, you might want to read about my experience as well. I feel great!

  • What sucks about Polyphasic sleep is the shear bullshit on both sides of the issue. On one hand, you have people trying the schedule and then reporting that it's better than it is - or citing famous thinkers who didn't use the schedule - while the other side calls it impossible 'life-threatening' and laughs like it's insane.

    Both are fallacious to the bone. Not to mention those who say they feel superior on either schedule could just be skeptics or working through placebos.

    We need a study.

  • @SamdeSquirell there's a study on youtube, search "polyphasic sleep study"

    Polyphasic sleeping isn't exactly good for you, but it doesn't really have any health consequences, as you are getting all the necessary cycles, it's not just REM. If you feel tired and sleep deprived under a polyphasic sleep schedule, after you've adapted to it, then nap times should probably be extended.

  • @juggliac I found a study on one person a while ago, but the results there could hardly be called scientific. They disrupted the pattern, only had one subject, and weren't using the most widely praised pattern (Uberman) but one of the lesser kinds.

    All that said, there is one massive drawback to the schedule - social life. It's hard to work, or see friends, or plan a single week and make way for naps at specific times. If everyone changed, it'd be perfect, but that won't happen.

  • @SamdeSquirell I definitely agree with you there... it can put a hindrance on social life. But, eh, for some people the schedule isn't a problem, and for others it is. I agree though, we need more studies of this sleep style, since there seems to have only ever been one.

  • @Tressco I could see where your logic comes from, but isn't that assuming that you're working for corporate interests? Say, if one were a scientist, like Buckminster Fuller who practised the Dymaxion sleep cycle. You would be using more time to benefit mankind. Other people such as writers, academics, philosophers, mathematicians et cetera would definitely benefit from this. One could actually work by day, and pursue their other dreams as a writer by night!
