I have a custom shop ES 335, and it doesn't have that warm of tone. I do realize a 1964 is probably a better guitar than a new custom shop though.

@deeduncan08 you'd be surprised. Not every Vintage guitar is up to snuff. They made some dogs back then just like they do today, and a lot of modern guitars play just as good if not better. I will say though the vintage stuff just has this vibe that comes with age that can't be replicated.

i really like this guys vids,because he plays a lot of songs everybody knows so you can determine how that guitar sounds or reacts within a song style...he rocks some halen or zep then funk..and i like his amp choices,nothing super big and triple-quadruple rectifier stuff just plain old tube amps with a few knobs..i found these es-335 vids very informative and really helped me make a decision to get one of these..

bit of history cause i'm a HUGE fan..derek and the domino's fan...great great blues-rock jam band...Clapton used a 56' fender strat.and duane allman a 57' goldtop les paul both through a pair of cranked fender tweed champ amps to get that tone...and the 335..cant say enough about that guitar. i played 2 of the custom Gibson's of Clapton's..played like butter and sounded so amazing...either vintage or reissue.. i will have this guitar
