again! This is a sport fencing. Not classical! Classical fencing mostly considered as fencing before using of electric fix of hits. This is a historic fact.
Why do you call it everywhere as classical fencing? I am really wonder about it!
@iandr2008 Why shouldn't I? There are a few different definitions of "classical" in fencing. A historical one is that classical fencing is the academical, esthetical theatre with foils from the XIXth century. Is your idea that classical is all that's without electrical scoring?
@OllyrottenI Why not pistol grips? :) It's more about the tactics and the whole setting that the weapon itself. There are many definitions of classical fencing, though.
@OllyrottenI "Pistol grips are allowed without any restrictions" - SGF Salut
"Belgian grips are ok to use" - from Jacek Bujko's website
Citing wiki and some other groups is not the best way to go, IMHO, because every group has it's own rules in the absense of a classical fencing international governing body.
From what I've seen and learnt, the ban on pistol grips stems from the need to create an artificial barrier between modern sport fencing and "classical fencing".
@jbujko That barrier is needed for the CF not to be compared to sport fencers. The need not to be compared stems from something like an inferiority complex.
Banning pistol grips while allowing italian grips is a deceit or even lying to oneself. The italian grip was created for a certain advantage over the french grip and pistol grip is just sincerely better at it and without the italian grips flaws. However - people are nostalgic and want to believe something else.
@jbujko I'm not arguing for or against pistol grips (despite my 'inferiority complex' lol), there are plenty of other places on the internet to do that if you want - what I am saying is that the overwhelming majority of classical fencers, at least in europe and the states, would decry the use of it, and so I was surprised to see the use of them in a video titled classical fencing.
Anyway, the invention looks like a great idea, can't wait for the foil one.
Yes, the sony vegas is a very easy movie editor, a little more complex is the adobe premiere but if you dont need a dificult sofware I recomend you the sony vegas, very easy to use. Hope that helps and thanks for answer.
@alberttogt Thanks a lot, I'll look into that sony vegas. If it works I'll upload a video of my new gadget - the Virtual Scoring Machine (really cool stuff!) :)
@alberttogt Thanks for Your kind words! After finishing with my final exams I began to move to a new apartment and it's eating all my spare time. Additionaly my Windows Movie Maker seems to disagree with my camera which caused me to have wasted quite a few hours trying to edit a new video before I finally gave up. Perhaps You know a simple movie editor that could replace WMM?
Classical epee is very aesthetically pleasing.
