45 years ago, i met this masterpiece (the BWV 1065) played with four harpsichords. It was wonderful. The polyphony sounded great! But a few years later, i discovered the piano version. So deeper! This concerto is both strong, powerful, and light. Bach wrote the 1065 for "klavier"... and my heart just like my mind and my ears go to the 4 pianos performance. Even the ornamentations are more expressive with klavier. But this is very beautiful. Maybe the second mvt tempo is too fast.
@tippi02 I completely agree with you. I first came to know the piano version and was transported by its overwhelming strength and beauty. I then found out that there was also another version and assumed Bach originally wrote this piece for harpsichord, because Hammerklavier/pianoforte was not an instrument Bach liked (from some comments he made to Silbermann). Only I found it less powerful. But if you say Bach wrote "Klavier" and not "Harpsichord" on the score... Best regards from Paris.
Bach, in all his favour. Ultimate Barok.
like a beginning of a film?

It's an adaptation of Vivaldi's l'estro armonico, whose concerto is played with violins. Two geniuses.

Inspirational!
Unfortunately, not often played live, because of the problem of getting 4 harpsichordists in town on the same evening.
It's OK on piano, too.
Another masterpiece by The Master Composer. Who else comes close?

is this bach or vivaldi????

@hipepleful Vivaldi made a very(!) similar composition before Bach. Bach has either:
1. made a variation on Vivaldis original or
2. made this on his own and by chance made it very equal to Vivaldis composition
