  • @Arteprogresivo Muchas gracias, long live progressive rock!

  • Bravissimo!! Bellissimo arrangiamento. Complimenti.

  • @sami1773 Grazie!

  • @urbania70

I agree, classical is great and fun to learn, but you cant get music lessons on The Alan Parsons Project.

  • @TylerDz1701 Well I should say that I also learned very much from the APP, as many did.

  • That was awesome! I wish I could play the piano like that, instead of all the classical crap they have in my music books. You can't find APP books anywhere here in Canada.

  • @TylerDz1701 APP sheets have been very rare everywhere since 80s, but a compilation is available on the-alan-parsons-project(dot)com. More and ovreall the APP official Facebook page just announced that the album songbooks are being republished, in digital download on sheetmusicdirect(dot)com . So far the sheets of 6 albums have been published, not including Pyramid, the others will hopefully follow soon.

  • @TylerDz1701 Thanx. I studied classical as a kid, and in time it proved to be valuable - Eric Woolfson (the APP songwriter and pianist) also did, and it would be very difficult to play APP properly without such preparation.

  • so great! perfect!

  • @vulkanizer Hvala! I "met" lots of APP fans thanx to my videos, but it's the 1st time I got a comment from a Croatian. I know Croatia, is near where I live (Trieste). Glad that APP is appreciated there.

  • @urbania70 it's great that we live so near by each other (I'm from Osijek). I've been a fan since 10 years. APP is a religion for me. Thank YOU for playing such great music!

  • Hi Urbania70,

I love your music so much; mainly your Videos from the Alan Parsons Project. This Music I love since I was 8 years old. This is the best music for me....

    Greetings from Germany

    Wersianer100

  • @Xanaducity Grazie mille

  • Complimenti Urbania, bellissima interpretazione!

  • @Carven83 Grazie mille

    Giorgio

  • bravo from France,beautifull interpretation,i"d love "WHAT GOES UP",and the Ab=ncient Egypt style.So magic.Music miss Eric Woolson.

  • @64june Many thanx. Eric is missed but immortal in his music. If you didn't check the video where he plays, among other things, What Goes Up. See the link in the superimposed annotation on this video at 2:34

  • Man: MASTER!!! You are THE man on piano, love from Argentina!

  • @romeropablo Thank you, if you like APP you find other piano interpretations on my channel

  • Bravo!

  • what can one say ?? I remain speechless each time.. incredible talent... bravo Giorgio davvero.. un altro livello proprio...

  • @spettacolare Thanx, this is probably the one where I did the most adaption to piano, especially on the part from 0:50. The negative side is the bad sound, due to a bug appearing when you upload MP4 videos (and say it's the most suggested format!).. a distortion on high frequencies making dirty all acoustic instruments (piano, sax, guitar). The bug should be solved by uploading in mono or at *few* bitrate, as it0s the compression which has the bug. Someday I will upload it in the orig. format.

  • I love Alan Parsons and this was a "unique" find. A beloved song with the entrance theme from I believe (A Dream Within a Dream?) Anyway, thanks for sharing this. I enjoyed it tremendously! Thank God for YouTube as my head cannot "wrap around" some of that stuff on the airways!

  • @remfanbeforu Thanx. The instrumental opening here is Voyager as I indicated in the video's title. "A Dream Within a Dream" is from the 1st album, "Tales...". All APP albums have been published in amazing remastered editions with bonus tracks. Click under the video for more interesting insights about the tracks played here, and for the link to the APP official site.

  • Wow this is awesome. I wished I could play like you.

  • Fucking good!

  • Wonderful to see someone elses interpretation of this. I always knock down hard on the two 'answers' (on 0:07 and 0:20) :-), whereas this is more establishing and builds from the beginning. That's very cool. It must be a very loved... medley :-) so many people are animating and posting with all sorts of references. You wander if this music has something we've lost these days, in modern rythmical music - like 'mystery' maybe :-)

  • @RobynStreaky THanx for your comment. See video description for insights about this APP masterpiece, of which I'm just a modest interpreter. Yes, music in 70s/80s, especially APP, was unique.

  • Great arrangement. Very well done.

  • @armedmo1 Many thanx

  • Very relaxing to listen to. You do Woolfson's beautiful compositions justice.

  • I actually bought the Pyramid Album back in 1978 - I found it extremely inspiring and quite revolutionary regarding the integration of classic & pop musicl genres! Warm Wishes - DeniseX

  • Well put Denise - quite revolutionary integration of classic and pop and, on this album, I'd say also ethnic/world

  • love your playing, you play all the things I like in piano music. but I cant play them yet.. will take me some years i guess

  • Thank you very much. Yes it tales some years of pratice but it's not impossible.

  • It´s a real pleasure!!!! Fernando Esley from Argentina.-

  • Thanx Fernando!

  • congratulations...a perfomance excelent!!!!, from Argentina, Pablo

  • Thanx!

  • superb! congratulations

regards from Argentina and have a good 2010, with more of your videos.

    thanks for posting

  • Thank you and nice to meet you, a happy 2010 to you too. If you didn't, check my channel.. other APP covers.

  • ..very well played! congratulations!

    5***** SUN :)

  • Thanx.. sad days with Eric's departure.. check my latest video if you didn't

  • Yes,it's very sad..Yes,I checked also your last video..go on playing like this, you're doing great!

    SUN

  • Thanx Sun

  • Very nice, congrats!

  • Great cover.

It's your message on youtube that told me about Eric's passing. It was quite a shock. I'm a musician and composer and no other musician ever influenced me more than Eric Woolfson.

I discovered APP in 1994, I was a lonely 14-year old keyboard player and nobody around me seemed to know about that band.

This music literally kept me alive in my darkest days, now I'm completely heartbroken.

  • I too learned the most in composing from his style. If you didn't see it, I think you will be much interested in my piano tribute to Eric, easy to reach from my homepage. I'm less sad now because I'm realizing the huge heritage he left ater him, he's really immortal.

  • This is wonderful!

  • Thanx. Did you know the original version?

  • Yeah. I'm a big APP fan. Great cover.

  • Great work on the piano

  • Thanx friend!

  • Very nice. It calls to mind the spirit of the original song, so many years ago... Thnx for sharing.

  • APP is still alive.. Pyramid (as all APP albums) has been published in remastered expanded edition 1-2 years ago. A piano cover of What Goes Up has been published by Eric Woolfson in person, about month after this video. Check the link in the annotation in the video.

  • Grazie mille! In quali punti ti sono sembrato fuori tempo?

  • perfect...

  • Great !!!

  • Thanx Kurt!

APP songwriter Eric Woolfson just posted his 1st piano medley, and it features this piece too! See channel ericwoolfsonapp

  • English please

  • Bravo Giorgio, 5 stelle meritate :-)

  • Ciao Alfonso..

Besetes

  • Muchas gracias amiga

  • Well done, as always, Giorgio! I wonder, could you post more instrumental performances like this, of the APP's vocal music? I found myself singing along to this, and would love to sing with songs like "La Sagrada Familia," "Ammonia Avenue," and "Shadow of a Lonely Man." Yes, Alec does a great job, but *I* want to sing too. :-) Again, well done!

  • If you didn't, check mine and Alec's channel for more. We have also other recorded material which we'll plan to publish, make sure to be subscribed to our channels.

  • Mamma Mia, Giorgio! Impressive, Bravo.

Pyramid is my app's favorite album.

Thank you for sharing with us

  • Thanx Migue!

  • Yes Giorgio, but I just remember the original. BRAVA INTERPRETAZIONE!.

Besos desde España y mucha suerte!

  • Thanx Nacha. Nice finding that some friends of mine knew APP. You that are Spanish should check the album Gaudì, I'll send you a fan video of the track La Sagrada Familia.

  • very nice, AP!!!!

  • BELLISIMA VERSION GIORGIO!. Besetes

  • Thanx for passing, dear Nacha. Did you know the original version?

Complimenti, davvero, io resto ogni volta stupefatta.

  • Grazie mille Clara! Con te come va, astroingegnera, tutto bene? :-)

  • Excellent - thank you I made this rendition of the song a youtube favorite.

  • Thank you very much John, it helps raising the visits!

  • Wonderful playing, I am jealous! Love your piano playing and dedication to APP!

  • Thanx! My dedication comes from the fact that I always thought that this is very high quality music and crossing over genres.

    greets

    ender

  • Thank you Seven!

  • Untuned or not, it is an amazing instrument to see as well as hear.

I miss our PM's, have you been busy?

    Lisa

  • Yes.. sorry friend! :-)

  • complimenti!

  • Grazie friend!

  • Beautiful cover, Giorgio.

What an amazing piano you have.

  • Hey Liza!

BTW.. do you remember our talking about which tryp of the uploaded file gives the best quality? Well, I edited this on Mac's iMovie getting an MP4 which I uploaded, and the quality is pretty much the same as when I worked with PC WindowsMovieMaker's WMV. Even if MP4 it's the format used by YT to store videos, uploading in MP4 is not all this better, because anyway the YT engine compresses it, and such an MP4->MP4 resaving creates anyway a significative loss of quality.

  • (continued) Briefly speaking, the issue isn't really much about the filetype, but just about doing less re-savings possible, staying the most possible close to the original file.

PS thanx for the compliment. As or the piano, full of problems as always (even a bit untuned this time! :-)

  • wow. beautiful cover of the first APP hit song i ever heard. its also the song that first made me a fan of the group. thx very much. :)

  • Hey Kohl, nice you shared your story!

  • my pleasure. i also shared the video so any of my friends that are APP fans themselves could enjoy it as much as i did. :)

  • Thank you very much for the sharing, Tom!

  • Bravissimo!

  • amazing, loved it!!!!!

  • Thanx new friend!

  • yo man!!!

    super cool xoxoxox

  • Grazie Miry!

  • Just impressive. Rock is easier, ok to miss a note here and there but this was a difficult one to do... for you ? :-D

  • Not so much, the difficulty was in adapting the part 0:45-1:15 which on the original version is made by an indeciphrable wall of synths and orchestra (see description for more).

Interesting is, this is (prog) rock, but, due to the big dynamics, it sounds quite classic, particularly on solo piano.. if not antique, due to the many 5ths (remember it's about Egypt).

APP songwriter Eric Woolfson said that he sees APP as classical music of today.

  • I should have said a live black metal concert f.e ict rock :-D

With your vid all errors can be heard, no band behind you...

  • Sorry friend, explain me last line?

  • Well, not a wild loud song and no other instruments and sounds added to this video. If a band plays live and one makes a mistake, the audience probably won't even hear it.

  • Ah, I understand now what you were meaning. Yes, sure. I never noticed that. Thanx.

  • Hehe, I rated 5* and really think it's a great vid. Would be easier if I added that :-)

  • Thanx again Mark!

  • Another jem of yours, man!

    Magnificently transcribed, arranged and played!

    5*+fav.

  • Thanx so much dearest Dan, I was waiting for you to watch it!

  • Absolutely Wonderful!!

    ~R

  • Giorgio sei grandioso come sempre!!!!

    GREAT!!!!

  • Grazie Alberto carissimo!

  • Enjoyed it! Especially the first part. Great video!

  • Ah the 1st part, yes, that is where one can hear much the influence of PF on Alan. I was pretty sure that you floydians liked that part.

  • Interpretazione molto bella !!! Luca.

PS a quando il cd ......?

  • Grazie Luca, troppo gentile

  • Bravo .... bravo , bravísimo Giorgio !!! .... I liked your interpretation very, very much.

Is a real pleasure to listen play to the piano. Your way of playing is impressive. I don´t give 5 stars. no...no.... I give you all the stars of the sky.

Congratulations my dear friend. keep in my favorites !

  • Thank you very much Mila. I'd be grateful if you can share it to your APP contacts.

  • Ciao amico!Eh..sei bravo proprio!Cmque io ce li ho tutti i lavori degli Alan!Io preferisco "Tales of mystery and imagination"!

  • Giorgio sei bravissimo.. grazie ancora!!!

  • Like always... AMAZING!!

    Thanx for sharing, Giorgio!

PD:I want to see more "like seen on TV"... you know that ;)

  • Thanx friend.

This time I didn't do zoom postprod for technical reasons. PC is broken, I had to use a MAC and learn and test from scratch about file conversions and postprod. It's already good that I'm again able to publish.

  • Fantastic playing! ;)

  • Thanx Karen!

  • Great arrangement and performance once again! I like the brief homage to Dream Within A Dream between Voyager and What Goes Up... lovely piano work!

  • Thanx Ace! Heh.. it was no direct quotation to A Dream Within a Dream, but simply what Powell put there in his interpretation on "Play the Best of APP". That sequences of 3-note groups appear more times in Tales and other Project albums as well as in Ladyhawke, TAO and also Kate Bush's Wuthering Heights where Powell arranged and played piano. It consider it Powell's signature.

  • Wonderful playing Giorgio!! I love the Pyramid album especially the song 'What Goes Up' This wouldn't have anything to do with the fact it is sung by a certain Mr DP LOL!!!

I hope all is well with you.

    Love Michelle xxxxx

  • Hehe.. a certain Mr David Paton.. Only he could sing that so high notes on the final crescendo. Thanx Michelle!

  • Congratulations Mr. Rizzarelli on performing this outta this world, totally awesome mind blowingly touching composition... you are among the best pianists ive ever seen!!

  • Oh so nice, you're the first on the tube calling me "Mr Rizzarelli". But you can call me Giorgio. The composition is of course not mine (see description).

  • Amazing job Giorgio !

    It's sound so well,you're a piano master.

    5* and share.

    L
