Yes, it is interesting; especially to me, since it seems to be a ripoff of my OpenComments extension for Chrome. I guess I should take it as a compliment that Google copied my idea, but I'm just ticked off. IMO, this is just unconscionable on their part.
This new Google service is very interesting and respond to a demand, but it is a bit weak, because there is no discussion, no conversation possible and makes the dialog very poor. I'd rather go to Crabzy for such service, even if Google gets the advantage to be visible on the same current window. Both are maybe complementary I guess...
I am performing a test if this stuff is really useful - and it is useful only of it is not censored. The test I did was go the irs web site and post an article with opinions that are definitely disturbing to the 'service.' Now we will have to wait and see if this article stays there or if it disappears shortly. It is still there after about six hours. Check it out and let others know what you find.
Check out the OpenComments extension for a way to do the same thing as Sidewiki, but without the possibility of censoring. Also supports discussions, not just posts.
Unlike Sidewiki, the OpenComments extension does allow discussion. It uses Google Groups to post comments, so users can post, reply, etc.

I agree, its pretty cool. Will be interesting to see how this is accepted by the end-user.

Shortcuts? Do you mean annotations? Just go into the annotations menu on whatever video and you should be able to add all you like.
