There have been many suggestions of fan made shenmue 3s, but they all seem to never get past a forum post and a photoshop mockup of what it would look like. Its a shame, as there are many highly talented programers and graphic designers out there that would do it for free. Dreamcast dev kits are probably pretty easy to obtain or make. Or ofcourse for PC. And They could re use allot of the music, game design and voice acting from the first 2 shemues, but serious organisation is needed for a team

The problem SEGA has is that they make the Yakuza series for PS3, which is more popular than Shenmue ever was. They also have/used to have strong ties with Microsoft, and then, technically shenmue would be easist to make for the Wii. Plus they could port the old games to Wii without having to do much to the visuals. And then ofcourse SEGA is bloody awful at marketing and cant sell shit in the west most of the time. So many problems.

Sorry mate but you're off base on that one. There are only two Shenmue games in existence; the first and second chapters that were released in both the US and Japan. Sega has never ruled out Shenmue 3 but their actions regarding the franchise to date suggest Shenmue 3 is likely never to happen. Shenmue Online has a greater likelihood of happening than Shenmue 3.

Yu Suziki (series creator) wanted to make the game but it has not appeared for numerous suggested reasons, the most likely being the abysmal loss made on both the first and second game. It depresses me to say so but I doub't we'll ever see the game despite the entire plot already being in existence since the first game went into production. :(
