@ScattySafari It's alright mate. No one hates on Wheaton. It's the character that's in the crossfire. And no one hates that character more than Billy himself.
@nickblhawk1 yeah, they would have had to explain why he gave up on total exploration of the universe in order to come work in a starfleet cubicle and hit on weird chicks at weddings.
to those who keep bashing the new trek movie chill out it was a reinvention of trek becuase lets face facts as much as we all loved the various series they lost their appeal with average veiwer but the new trek was incredibly successful
@SovereignStatesman ...so you would consider Riker and Troi as collateral damage? Riker is the Captain of the USS Titan and Troi is ship's Counselor. BTW, Riker and Troi married in Nemsis before transferring to the Titan.
Doing some "free" commercial for the Star Trek Titan books I see.. Anyway in my opinion there's only been 3 really good Star Trek movies, the motion picture, the wrath of Khan and the undiscovered country. The new movie wasn't too bad really.. good fun action.. but didn't really feel that star trekkie.
@elfred1980 *asg* It is by far the most underrated Star Trek movie in history, true it is not for everyone, and you need to watch it more than once. But in my opinion it is FAR superior not only to most Star Trek, but to most SciFi in general, it is grandiose, it is epic and majestic, it is also fascinating as heck.
@Rankoupa Id take JJ's Star Trek anyday over Nemesis. Nemesis wasn't bad it was just, well, the same ol' Trek crap we've seen before. The story was uneven at places and for a final outing of TNG, it was dissapointing. I'd like to see a Star Trek film based off Rikers Titan with a Prometheus feel to it. Space exploration can be scary too, plus it ventures away from the same old crap from that dick head Rick Berman. GLAD HE'S OUT OF THE PICTURE FOREVER!
@hereticcs24 For some reason I feel like I am being criticised for something *ponder* I just said the new timeline Star Trek had a very different feel to it, not much like classical Star Trek, as for Nemesis yes, like most movies it was disappointing, and agree, Generations had some really stupid logic holes in it. As for Rick Berman.... I am quite fond of DS9 and Enterprise season 2-4, big reason for that because it was not JUST solo independent episodes but a story, and character development.
@Rankoupa The new trek did almost everything to alienate former viewers. No sound FX were used, backstories were wildly ignored and mocked, and Scotty was played like an ADHD. At no time did I feel "fooled" that I was watching a long lost 60s ep, which was what they had all promised.
@SpreadingtheMuse Hah, yes it was certainly a case of bringing turpentine to everything we thought we knew about Stark Trek, Tabula Rasa big time, new back stories, new personalities, new time line. And yes I do wonder how they motivated the rather extreme change in Scotty. And I wish there had been rather fewer acrobatics and fist fights... AND they should have kept the warpcore! But overall I did not get alienated, I rather enjoyed the movie in fact.
@Godzilla52 Generations was stupid as hell. "You can go anywhere, anytime" Why the hell would Picard want to go back 30 mins ago?! I would've said take me back to where I met Dr. Saron and punch his ass out in ten forward. Nimoy was smart to not get involved. He pretty much says the script sucks, get outta my face "Go to hell".
@hereticcs24 I would of went back to the point where the klingons found the shield frequency and changed it secretly and when they fired and the torpedo hit the shield instead of the ship. Then riker would of blasted that damn Bird of Pray into oblivion. Then launch mass volley of proton torpedos at the spot were soran was. I doubt his rinky dink forcefield would of withstood several torpedoes.
Im still pissed a Bird of Pray was able to destroy a Galaxy Class starship so god dam easy.
@hereticcs24 How about Kirk simply going back to the Enterprise-B, and just letting Captain Christopher do his job, and not interfere with those people going into the Nexus?
And then Picard would end up back on his ship before that stupid cock-hat ceremony, and get a telegram set 87 years earlier by James T. Kirk to tell his brother to shut the gas off in his house?
they took him out because it was out of his character. Remember what happend to him in the TV series and then you know why it was good not to have him in any of the movies. He was supposed to be "star traveler (...to explore other planes of reality)" for christs sake. Not going the path of the Star Fleet was the whole point of that!
yes. The people which made the scribt for Nemesis have been simply not paying any attention to the series or the characters. If you do a bad scribt then those kind of things happen.
@trekker8342 Remember, after the stunt he pulled he still wasn't dismissed. Probably because, as pissed as Picard was, he understood the moral dilemma. What I'm confused about is why you would go back to Starfleet after more or less learning your destiny is to become the protege of a highly advanced life form, and that you represent the next step in human evolution. That makes no sense to me. I mean, this guy can freeze time and during this entire movie all he does is say "Hello"?

@gropingwithastoker I love Wil's book,Just a Geek. The Shatner story is cool.OTOH Rick Berman sounds like an ass.Snubbing Wil at copious TNG events and then not even including this on the 1st DVD release? Stopping him from doing the Milos Forman movie for a reason that was a total lie? It's a shame they didn't have Wesley evolve and grow up into somebody closer to Wil's real personality. That would be the solution to the flaws in the way the character was written.Make him more like Wil.Oh well.

Poor Wil Wheaton, doomed be remember for playing the most hated character in Trek. It wasn't his fault they wrote Wesley as such an annoying boy-genius. Luckily they learned their lesson with DS9 and made Jake Sisko the anti-Wesley!
@scopeeyevideo I don't consider Nog an annoying boy-genius. I actually think he was a great character who had some real facets and growth as the series progressed.
@manco82 Seems to me that most of what's wrong with Wesley is strictly season 1 stuff. He moved on from what he was early on, it's just the fans that never forgave the character. But all kinds of things were wrong with the first season of Next Gen... If Nog were part of Season 1 Next Gen, he'd be prancing around like an ape and stuff. Nog's better off in large part because he showed up later, after the new Trek shows had found their footing.
I'm guessing Jake Sisko is what Wesley Crusher was intended to be. But even then, Jake became a dick when he became a reporter. Haha, but then again, what journalists aren't dicks? :P
No, the Encounter at Farpoint Script clearly stated that Wesley "has that same quick intelligence (as Beverly) multiplied by four (...) a cheerful personality, but with considerable maturity for someone his age" (pg. 39).
"The Star Trek Scriptbooks. Book One: The Q Chronicles."
I know why they cut it out . because Wesley is and always has been a pain in the ass. About as useful as having an empath on board, great show TNG , but boy there were some things it could do without.
Even if you can't stand him, he shoulda at least had his 35 seconds in the last TNG film. Hardly a big deal for the running time to keep it in. Or canon for that matter. There are dozens of possible explanations.
I was never much of a Wesley fan, in fact I went through stages of really disliking him, but I wouldn't have begrudged him one tiny scene.
@Benjemen85 I think the point is, why would someone who could travel through time and space at will, essentially a super being, rejoin star feet and coop himself up on a star ship?
@FawxNewbz Did you even see that episode? Also, how do you explain Picard saying 'Back in uniform'. You know, like he left, then rejoined. Wesley become a being like the Traveler. Doesn't mean he has to go roaming the Galaxy. He can rejoin Starfleet, it's a free universe.
That... sucked, and I can see why they cut it. Talk about not explaining a damn thing - why would he go back to Starfleet after "ascending?" Good lord that was horribly written.

But all kinds of things were wrong with the first season of Next Gen... If Nog were part of Season 1 Next Gen, he'd be prancing around like an ape and stuff. Nog's better off in large part because he showed up later, after the new Trek shows had found their footing.

I can't imagine why they took this out-
I hope that was sarcasm! lol

Is he telling them or asking them? He says "I have the night shift?" Then "twin intermix chambers?"

I'm guessing Jake Sisko is what Wesley Crusher was intended to be. But even then, Jake became a dick when he became a reporter. Haha, but then again, what journalists aren't dicks? :P

@TheDarkFrontier
No, the Encounter at Farpoint Script clearly stated that Wesley "has that same quick intelligence (as Beverly) multiplied by four (...) a cheerful personality, but with considerable maturity for someone his age" (pg. 39).

simpsonfan13 3 months ago
I know why they cut it out . because Wesley is and always has been a pain in the ass. About as useful as having an empath on board, great show TNG , but boy there were some things it could do without.
HopeMonkey 3 months ago
Even if you can't stand him, he shoulda at least had his 35 seconds in the last TNG film. Hardly a big deal for the running time to keep it in. Or canon for that matter. There are dozens of possible explanations.
I was never much of a Wesley fan, in fact I went through stages of really disliking him, but I wouldn't have begrudged him one tiny scene.

@NowKillTheKing I agree, he should have had his farewell moment like the rest of the cast did.
Good thing his role lives on in The Big Bang Theory :D

@JamesRadioReplay i hink picard said: "It´s good to see you in uniform AGAIN!", so i think he rejoined starfleet but you´re right it´s kinda weird ;)
Benjemen85 3 months ago 2
@Benjemen85 I think the point is, why would someone who could travel through time and space at will, essentially a super being, rejoin star feet and coop himself up on a star ship?

spontaneoussam2 3 months ago
@FawxNewbz Did you even see that episode? Also, how do you explain Picard saying 'Back in uniform'. You know, like he left, then rejoined. Wesley become a being like the Traveler. Doesn't mean he has to go roaming the Galaxy. He can rejoin Starfleet, it's a free universe.

@FawxNewbz its good to see you BACK in uniform again... he obviously rejoined starfleet

That... sucked, and I can see why they cut it. Talk about not explaining a damn thing - why would he go back to Starfleet after "ascending?" Good lord that was horribly written.

@virtualsoran Absolutely, last I saw, Wesley had vanished in a cloud of pure self righteousness.
