Kobayashi is from Japan (A free nation) where private corporations are not allowed to own people and suck them dry with ridiculous contracts. This is a simple hot dog eating contest, private corporations can stay out of it and respect the traditions of the people residing there.

This isnt JUST a h'dog eating contest...this is a SPORT with REAL MONEY involved.The dispute is not over him entering other contests as I thought, but is instead about endorsement deals after the fact, which MLE wanted to control so there are no conflicts between sponsors. Japan DOES SIMILlAR contracts too!
