Though it is great idea, the very worst part of this golden idea is the 'interest'! You cannot penetrate the poor African people who are by far religious people than any people on earth. Most of these people do not accept the 'interest'. So, it is better to substitute the 'interest' with PROFIT SHARING! The lender just gives the money and wait for profit share. Of course, the principal amount should be paid!
Truly a great idea. “Working” is the best and most sustainable way of elevating poverty. Creating a system that connects small businesses with small investors! Money to the grass roots of an economy……amazing.
Great to follow. I am Co-founder of MYC4 and can add to the comment about 'throwing money at the problem' that we are soon releasing a new concept where you will be able to invest in the farmer who's product you are buying in the supermarket - with other words, focus is not just about investing in Africa but also importing the produce. It is kicked-off in Denmark (our initial market) in week 43 but if it proves to be prosperous for all parts, we will launch this concept in other markets... Tim
@Elin48 its the entire farming industry from Monsanto, fast food, the market, exc...
its not just simply a small problem. In fact its an exponentially growing problem. Like all things there will be a decline. We must have solutions in hard times or we will ultimately fail. Throwing money at the problem has been our only idea. When also its an IOU and most will hold onto something with little value to begin with.
@DouglasMcK ....but then that's not the point of this film is it...the film talks about people who have a small business and need capital...having capital gives a big boost towards growth and that growth allows for profit. With profit, there is the ability to pay back on loans and more.
@DouglasMcK from my understanding, in America this is happening because there are now mega farms replacing small independent family farms. I think that the farms that are spoken about in this film are more like the independent farmer.
So basically the end result is growth and profit. These sound like good things but growth is a bad thing in an overpopulated world, which we a live in currently.
@stoddcrew ...this is not population growth they are talking about, but growing a business, as in a business which helps to create sustainability and production, thereby helping those who currently live.

I dont think global capitalism would help... IE throwing money at people that cant afford to pay loans back.

@Elin48 Growing a business will always lead to population growth, we're humans, we like sex, and sex=baby's.

@stoddcrew ...certainly, that's true if there is limited birth control though I don't see that this precludes the success of MYC4.
