Those pictures of Alan Freed at the Brooklyn Paramount theatre are wonderful. The highlights of my childhood was when my dad or uncle took me to those shows.
Definitely sounds like an influence on Elvis. I think you mentioned somewhere that you were related to Martha Carson, yes? Also an influence on Elvis.
Martha was my Mom's sister and of course, my aunt. She did like to say that Elvis copied her moves. I know she really "got down" on stage..something no other white gospel singer had done at that time! But it may have been the other way around, that she copped some of his moves. Mostly she liked to bounce and crouch...playing her tamborine or guitar. She knew how to wake people up for sure! There's some videos posted of her on here...see what you think!
