I remember seeing the original in theatres when it was released back in 1977. Granted I was only 3 but talk about memories and for the late 70s the effects were beyond incredible!
Every so often God gets a unique tune stuck in his head, so he takes the form of a Human named John Williams, descends to Earth, and shares it with everyone.
How many film scores has Mr. Williams done that when you hear the first few notes you know INSTANTLY what film it is? He is a pop culture phenomenon and one of the greatest compsers of the 20th AND 21st centuries.
I absolutely love the dynamic changes in this piece! it's incredibly well put together... and listen to the piccolo (specially in the beginning) and the flutes so freaking sweet!!! ... yes, i am a flute/piccolo player....
not only one of the best, most recognizable motion picture themes of all time, but represents an incredible turning point in cinema and WORLD culture forever... no wonder the people cheer so uncharacteristically for what is considered a traditional symphonic setting... go on and cheer... its absolutely deserving!
Damn, movie magic sure is dead. I feel SOOOO lucky to have grown up with John Williams and movies like Jaws, the Rocky series, the Star Wars trilogy, the Indiana Jones trilogy, E.T., Back to the Future, Superman, Close Encounters, and Batman. What does today's generation get? Pirates of the Caribbean, Transformers?? Man, that sucks!!
Pixar sucks... The first Pixar movie ( I think it was Toy Story...) was pretty good and fun because it was a new concept of movies... But the Pixar movie's of today... 0.0
After Phantom Menace failed to impress, this was really the only reason I went to see the other prequels....to relive my youth by sitting in a movie theater and hear that music while watching the opening crawl on a big screen one more time.
john williams is the man is from the indiana jones song...haha(last music of it"da da da da" which is john williams is the man respectively)i dont know if you get what i said=-=bad bad english
If you think about it real closely, see how the low bass notes of the song could be compared to a bass guitar. the higher notes could be replaced with lead, rhythm guitars and also keyboards/moogs/synthesizers. its awesome, and i bet some bands are going to try it.
Wait a second, you were cold? In LA? Fuck you man. It's like 6 degrees here right now. Your string is showing you little bitch. Buck up and show some balls. You're cold? Fuck you.
Oh my god, you whinning little- way to get angry over nothing. I live in winnipeg, manitoba in minus 40 degrees, so i wouldn't be tlaking. WHen i read that i just laughed, so what do you have stuck up your ass?
And you can see clearly in his work the big influence from Gustav Holst, from the Suite "The Planets", mainly the "Mars"! Ald you also can tell that there are a little of Wagner too.
awesome Holst reference. My grandpa used to play the planets for me and my sisters on an old 45 (if that's the correct number when referring to large records) when i was a little kid. i love that shit. i like when they do the countdown and it sounds like talking but it's not really.
No other composer that I could remember could create so many memorable themes for so many countless movies. You hear bits of notes and you immediately recognize the films they belong to. And very few composers could transport us thru music into fantastic places like Isla Nublar, Hogwarts, a galaxy far far away,or hiking adventures with an archaeologist, a little alien, or the man of steel. Only one composer could do that, the man JOHN WILLIAMS!!!
John Williams is and he will be one of the biggest composers of music of our time. Like he was in his day an insuperable tandem Alfred Hithcock - Bernard Hermann - Cary Grant, ho they it are Steven Spielberg and George Lucas - John Williams - Harrison Ford.
Star Wars theme, Superman theme, Indiana Jones theme, ET theme, Jurassic Park theme, Harry Potter theme, Jaws theme... John Williams makes the most memorable scores than every other composers could have done in their lifetime!! and there's a whole lot more of them than the ones I listed. Hands down, John Williams is a living legend.
Why does no one recognize him for one of my favourite pieces, "Shindlers List"? The most heart wrentching score he's ever done and it makes me want to cry every time I hear it.
man this is simply beutiful i mean u no how much hard work it is too actualy play all together i mean one mistake from a trumpet or somthing could get you fired! so who ever criticizes this doesnt no wat he or she is talking about cause this is beutiful
The way they cheer at the start, you'd think they were at a rock concert. Anyone else notice that when it comes to this genre of music all the best works seem to come from sci-fi or action/adventure movies?
Yeah, they're always so beautiful and imaginative. ^_^ And they're pieces that will be remembered 20, 30, 50 years from now or maybe even longer than that. John Williams man, you are a genius! We love yooou
NO! That "dork" comment was directed as a response to someone elses comment. Why it's listed up here I don't know. I like John Williams's work. Why else would this video be in my favorites file?
I never said anything bad about nerds. I happen to like John Williams. Maby im getting star wars confused with star trek. (And God forbid I ever do that) Whatever...I meant no harm in J.W. or Star Wars.
No No ! It's John Williams and Jerry Goldsmith, even though he died, I think. Hans Zimmer is still good though. All of the Newmans is also good, you see them on about every movie nowadays
