there's flaw somewhere! as epiphany347 mentioned, once the scrollbar is dragged down it stays in the middle n u can't scroll up again. did this tut twice…so is there a workaround? help appreciated

so i did everything you said but when i click on the scroll bar it jumps to the middle of the scrollbarBG and when i scroll down it will scroll off of the BG. any idea why this is happening?

hi there!!! nice tutorial! i 've followed your instructions and it does work but i have a problem. it does scroll down but when i scroll it up it freezes in the midle of the bar and it does not move up. only down.

Hi there, s helpfull tutorial however I need to be able to understand exactly how this actionscrips is working. I want to create a stage where 2 images cross over each other from top to bottom.

I want the scrollbar to activate one image going up, and one image going down as you drag the scrollbar down. With your actionscript, I can obviously have the image that will travel upwards but I now need to work out how to attach the scrollbar to an image that goes downwards. Many thanks mcv digital

I wouldn't know any horizontal code, but try rotating it horizontally with the free transform tool (I have a tutorial on that) and tell me how that works XD

as i said it worked great but there's an issue once you scroll down or up the bar.

it turns out that when u do that the bar chages position and moves to the right a little bit, not much but ends up out it's original place.

im guessing it might be a mistake in the code you wrote, or maybe im doing something wrong, is there anything I can do?

Hi! thanks a lot! But now I want to introduce another scrollbar for the left-right movement. I don't know which part of the code I need to change. I've created the second scrollbar (instance names: 'scrollbar2' and 'scrollbarBG2' -pretty smart, huh?-). Now I need to change that code. I've changed all 'scrollbarBG' for 'scrollbarBG2' and the same with 'scrollbar'. But what about the X-Y coordinates?

Of course it can be used with photos. The horizontal part I wouldn't know. Try rotating it or something.

This was Great!

Im having one problem though. my scroll bar will scroll a little farther than it should. Basically it reaches the end of the content and the content stops but the scroll can still move farther than it needs to way out of the scroll area.

Any ideas?

I have been having the same problem as ronronaldson with the content shifting. Does the actionscript need to be altered if you are scaling up? When I open your file it works fine. When I start modifying it to fit my size document and content the problem happens. Any thoughts? Thanks.

great tutorial. thanks for that. Just one thing though. For some reason my scrollbar continues down past the bottom of the scrollbarBG. Not sure why. And also as soon as i click on the scrollbar whilst it's in the top position, everything in the mask shifts upwards and the top of the contents gets cut off. Instead of using text, i am using images. Is this causing the problem?

Hmm... I don't know why it would be doing that, it should be the same case with pics.

No worries though, if you can't seem to figure out the problem, click the first link in the discription to download a flash file of the scroll bar for free.

Hi, thanks for the tutorial. Everything works fine, however I noticed that working buttons cannot be placed inside the txt movieclip. I have tried putting the button code in both the timeline and on the button itself, both ways work initially, but as soon as the scroll bar is clicked the buttons become inactive. If you have any suggestions I would really appreciate your help, thanks.
