1996...the year of the rat! Story goes that Brian Skrudland killed a rat in the Panthers Locker room on opening night, then scored 2 goals...after that Panthers fans threw rats on the ice and that lead to our magical season...yes the avelance was the better team, but despite that the Panthers still had a post stanley cup rally after the finals (which we got swetp in) that was sold out...what a great year despite falling short of the cup!

This was the first hockey game I watch when I was 9. Looking back what a classic! Kinda feel bad for the Flordia goalie. They were dominated the whole series and the one game he gives up only one goal his teammates can't help him by scoring, but then again you gotta give credit to Patrick Roy.

I stayed up until 3:30am in the morning NFLD time watching this game in 1996; my eyes were actually half-shut when Krupp scored in the 3rd OT to clinch the Cup for the Avs, so I was still barely awake & saw the goal...I'll never forget this game:-)

Nope, thank god;-) I was still in school that year, well, it was my graduation year; I had already finished my exams so I didn't have to go into school the next morning...so I was lucky to be able to stay up & watch this game, will never forget it either:-)

the team that has the best fans in all of the NHL is the Montreal Canadiens (AKA Habs). And it's not as much opinion as it is FACT.

anyways, my fav team, aside MTL, is the Florida Panthers (AKA Cats). They're not that great, but they're SO cool! :D

Remember that 1 cup in the last 50 years, when you needed the refs to steal it from Vancouver in 94. Other than Messier (past his prime), Gretzky (well past his prime), and Esposito (even more past his prime), I don't recall that many of the "centuries best" wearing that uniform. The Nordiques/Avs have had more greats in the past 2 decades than NYR inlast 5. In that time span, we also have twice as many cups. Being a fan is great, but just because you like someone, doesn't make them great.
