  • You are REAL!!!!!!

  • Hey, just wanted to let you know that I've watched a lot of belly dancing videos and yours was very instructive, comprehensive and fun. Thanks!

  • i got a belly dancer outfit and your videos hep alot

  • Beautiful movements! I don't see in tiny girls great movements like in you!

Your body is full of happiness. Sorry for my bad english but i am polish eheheh!

    Thanx for this video! :)

  • @Abblore -So glad you like it. Thanks for watching!

  • this helps a lot but its easier because i forgot when i was a kid but then i remember when u split it up into easier parts :)

  • "all that lusciousness". Really. Not the word I would have used. Not the word I thought of either

  • @harplover1 -Nevertheless, thanks for stopping by.

  • @harplover1 -

    Okiedokie.

Well, if you feel like you and I need to have a discussion about the word I perhaps should have used, please send me a direct message. I'm a writer. I love words, and I love to discuss words.

This was recorded "off the cuff" as they say. I didn't take time to script it.

Did you happen to notice that I'm morbidly obese...? I figured the visual spoke for itself on that account. I figured describing it with words would have been overkill.

    Thanks for stopping by. :)

  • God damn girl! :o You are amazing! :) The way you move your hips! Puh! Love your video!

  • @paraflax876 -Thank you. :)

  • jestem pod wrażeniem taka bakba!! buźka!

  • Never seen anyone separate and split up the moves into such easy simple steps, thank-you very much - reminds me of keeping my posture too! Beautiful dancing, wonderful commentary and you look gorgeous!

  • @MoonmothMedia -Thank you so much. I'm glad I could help. :)

  • You make this look so easy the way you slowed it down. I think I like it better slowed down. It's a little more .dramatic like the movemet of a snake.

  • @TheGlitzeeglimmer777 Asshole.

  • @zainadlr -Bless you. :) I've had to block some doozies. lol

  • @TheGlitzeeglimmer777 That just now showed us all how intelligent and ignorant you are. Do us all a favor and grow up.

  • you are so amazing!!!! thank you SOOOO much for this!

  • @automaticgirlsings -You're SO welcome! I'll try to post more. :)

  • I jus love u. I think what u do is amazing. So beautiful.

  • @fefegale911 -Thank you! I appreciate all who come to visit and enjoy. I love the dance.

  • I love how you are so confident! Everyone that bellydances from what I've seen look like the people weigh 50 pounds and you could throw them across the room lol....as my friend has told me, "It's called belly dancing, not skinnytwig dancing," You give me the confidence I need to do belly dancing, and I thank you for that :)

  • @Nico123Chan -You're very kind. Belly dance has helped me so much to get over myself and accept me for me. I hope it does the same for you. :)

  • :O

  • @skatie210 :D

  • lol

  • @nickson205 - I know, isn't it hilarious?

  • Not like but love your work

  • Thankyou for posting :)

  • Honey u are great!!!!!

i love it ...i gonna look into all ur videos <3

    big hi from

    Mexico ;)

  • @marce1985mac12345 -Hola! and Gracias for watching. ;)

  • You're amazing! Thank you so much for your videos, it's very inspirational to see different (but still gorgeous!) body-types. Your humor, expressions, and commentary are awesome!!

  • @PhyrreFly733 - Thank you. :) Life isn't fun without humor and dance.

  • You have a great hourglass figure

  • @mersylla - Why thank you! My parents worked very hard on it.... lol

  • I love your confidence ! Like Hippopause said, everyone is superskinny in all the other videos ! Surprisingly I thought yours is the BEST.

    R.E.S.P.E.C.T.!

  • @shinivik - If I may humbly be frank for a moment, many people have been telling me that since I posted the videos. Thank you. I'm glad you enjoy them.

  • Thank you

    you helped me a lot!!

im livin in a small city and theres no belly dance group

but no i was able to lern the basics thanks to your vids! thank you, im so happy :D

  • @alkmene92 - Find music you love and experiment! I'll try to post more vids soon.

  • Thank you so much for this video. You explain this so well and make me feel like i do this too. Thank again!!

  • @ondeemia - you're welcome. :)

  • Excellent tutorial.

I have been dancing since 1979, had an accident and gained too much weight.

    I will get back.

    Your teaching is excellent!

  • @molarmama5 - Thank you SO much for watching and taking the time to comment. Dance is for everyone. I hope you find that joy again. :)

  • i have been getting into belly dancing but i find it really hard to isolate my upper body

  • @Ephezcute That takes time to loosen those ligaments and tendons. Give yourself DAILY practice even if it is an hour a day only.

I believe Rachel Brice said it that section, is the first "to go". Daily practice, please.

    GOOD LUCK.

  • @Ephezcute - Practice, practice. Truly, give yourself a few months of solid work before you give up. There's stuff I can't do yet...

  • Great video Ozma!! i like how you point with hand gestures that helps a lot!!...lovely!!

  • "Pardon the big bra strap"

    XD

    Great video!

  • @CustomFib - LOL's all around. :)

  • I went to a belly dancing class once at Lines Ballet and everyone was her size, I don't knows what people are talking about! Sure, the other videos are all of slim women, and she could probably lose a couple pounds, but this video was very educational, and everyone who keeps hating is just self conscious about their own bodies. Great job Ozma!

  • @LatinaDancer101 - Thank you! Many dancers I know are about my size, too. That's part of why I love bellydance.

  • I Really think i do better watching this. All of the other posters are way too fast and i like how you take it slow and are having fun with it! I also like that your not a twig and im not alone! Thank you so much for posting!

  • @ChelseaAlvarez916 - Wooo! I do it all for you! :)

  • Very cool! Thanks for sharing! You're good and I love your facial expressions! :D

For those who feel they are too large for this dance, I'd like to add that my instructor told us that we need to embrace all that is "woman" and to be proud of ourselves for who we are in dance and in life, no matter the size. We had women of various sizes and after a couple of lessons, they found that the fun of it overruled their fears. Besides, it's nice to see a belly dancer with a belly, in my opinion. ;-)

  • @LMmccallL57 - Agreed. I recently saw a dancer who was literally twice my size. She was very graceful. Made me smile.

  • this goes definetely into my bellydance-playing list! You are great and a wonderful example of self-esteam for every woman! (besides: your technic and style are simply perfect!) Thank you!!!!

  • @joeit74 - COOL! I'm on a playlist! I'm a playlister, too, so to me it's a big compliment. :)

  • i felt the exact same hippopause but you are as much a woman as anyone else after years of abuse that make my hips very hard to move i now dance and have a brillant belly dance teacher, and have private classes, theres a wonderfull goddness in you just let her free

  • Brava e tremendamente simpaticaaaa! :))))))))))))

  • Cool tutorial :D really useful!! Thx!! :D

  • I think that your beautiful. You seem like you love to have fun and that makes you even more wonderful. Thank you very much for this video, honestly, you took it slow and really showed me how the moves worked. No matter what others say, you keep on makes these videos! You are amazing at what you do, and have outstanding movement control (unlike me.) Keep being confident in yourself, no one loves you more then you. Thanks again for this great video, with great appreciation! -3

  • @IvanaBoo1 That was supposed to be a heart <3 like so :P

  • @IvanaBoo1 - So glad it's helpful, and yes, eventually I'll get around to making more.

  • ha, yeah she is fat. but she's a lot prettier than most the ratty, skinny girls. And guess what? shes got a great pair on her! oh yeah, and shes awesome at belly dancing. its almost memorising.. :-| thanks for the video!:-)

  • @bethanyjademm - Thank you. I enjoyed your comment. :)

  • Being fat is not an ugly thing,I'm not fat but it does not mean that I will judge other by their weight and by the way who has found out that a fat person can dance or be beautifull !!!

  • me encanta ver mujeres llenitas que se atrevan a bailar...se ven bonitas y femeninas :) felicitaciones! :)

by te way i loved the necklace and the earrings!!!

  • Hello Shimmy Shanti, i'm really glad you uploaded this video. Thank you so much. Can you upload a video on how to shake the hips, I have tried so many times buy i cant shake them :(

  • @HeerSletti - Check my channel... I made a hips video, too.

  • @shimmyshanti thanks a lot

  • YOU ARE SO GORGEOUS! and this was so helpful, because you have a body type i can actually relate to, so it's easier to see exactly what i'm doing right. thank you so much!

  • @MissBellahontas - very glad to know this was helpful. Keep dancing!

  • Brilliant, I have been looking for a tutorial on here since last weekend, I did learn these techniques on my first lesson yet I haven't been to a second due to the venue being expensive for our tutor, I have also had problems looking for a tutorial and just finding skinny girls .. yet traditionally belly dancing is all about having curves and celebrating the goddess figure .. well done :D

  • @DarkDolly - thank you. So glad I could help.

  • awesome tutorial... you look great!! thanks

  • really good tutorial! thanks a lot! i am trying to learn a little belly dancing... do we raise te heal off te ground while doing figure8 and shimmies?...

thanks again! you are a very cheerful person full of energy <3

  • @dance0090 - With figure 8, heels usually stay on the ground. Shimmies can also be done on the balls of the feet. Be aware of your muscles, and don't strain. Squat lower for more drama.

  • thank you for posting this video <3

  • @jewellannipres what a jackass.

  • @MizzAshleyMcKee - You're very kind. You may find my response to "jewellannipres" amusing. :)

  • @jewellannipres -

Let's see how many answers I can fit in:

    -They Who?

-In the usual place, to the left of my liver and above my colon.

    -I don't understand the question...

-Yes, my ribs were raised. That flabby thing above my waist and below my breasts are usually referred to as "breaticles" in my family, and we ROFL about them all the time.

Thanks for stopping by. Glad you found it so entertaining. :)

  • @shimmyshanti correction, "breasticles"

  • Don't let the haters bring you down, they hate the skinny ones and make them get fat, they hate the non skinny girls and force them to lose their fat, but you, lady, you are AWESOME and you should never be ashamed of anything about your self.

I think I'm not the only one who noticed you are very pretty, and not to mention that you really made me laugh!!! :D Luv ya!! :***** and thank you so much!

  • @MissRikkiKat - You're very kind, and very welcome. I have a very developed sense of humor, and fully understand the major demographic of YouTube. I make the vids for you! :)

  • Loved when you got to the shimmy. Thank you so much for uploading this. I've been dying to get back into belly dancing, i took a few classes with a friend a long long time ago. and with your video i'll be able to pick it back up again. btw You Rock!!!!!

  • This is a great video, really easy to understand, and you can see that you're really comfortable which is great :)

  • I've been looking at belly dance tutorials for awhile now and your by far is my favourite for beginners!! Btw I love the fact that your a curvy woman and you own it!! We need more woman like you out there strutting their stuff for the world to see :)

  • Thank you so much for sharing this with us!!! You are a beautiful dancer, wonderful teacher & love your great sense of humor!

  • thanks for posting your fantastisk vid, your tutorial are great;)

  • Haha, your fces made my night :) "Cluck like a chicken...whatever floats your boat."

  • I'm so glad you posted this.I've been watching a lot of videos about belly dancing and I would love to learn how to dance. But in all the videos, everyone is super fit and skinny and their muscles are really defined. I have a little bit more padding so you can't really see whats going on... I'm really self conscious about my weight and I still can't bring myself to take an actual class because I feel like I would look disgusting and people would judge me.You gave me hope though. TYVM!

  • @hippopause -So glad you enjoyed it. Don't anyone stop you from having the best day ever! :) Dance will make you happier and more confident.

  • @shimmyshanti I actually looked into a class and I'm planning on enrolling :D

  • @hippopause One of the great things about belly dancing is that it's all about isometrics and really has very little to do with size. I'm "skinny mini" but I'll have you know that this instructor is one of the most helpful I've seen on youtube thus far.

  • Thank u so much for posting this. I've been trying to learn but get kinda discouraged when I see super skinny girls teaching, thats probably what's kept me from taking an actual class. U ROCK!!! <3<3

  • WOW, your amazing;) THUMBS UP PEOPLE!

  • @TROLLINwithRAY Dah skinny gurl somewhere else, yo. why don't choo go be lookin' some otha channel.

  • @xanycee I can appreciate you find my appearance to be distracting. I'm fully aware of my current appearance, and this is part of the social statement I am making in teaching these tutorials IN MY CURRENT STATE. If a woman denies herself the pleasure of beautiful movement because she is "not the perfect model" she is leaving a whole lot of fun, happiness, self-love and health on the table. Rachel Brice was inspired to dance by a 300lb. belly dancer. peace, and Namaste. :)

  • @rosamadchen No, YOU are epic. :)

  • OZMA! Thank you so much for this tutorial. I love your humor and teaching style. Moves that I have seen elsewhere you broke down into simple well-explain steps. THANK YOU!!

  • @SupremeDarkLordVader You are so so so so welcome. Find the 'Shimmy Shanti' fan page on Facebook and like us! Say hello! Tell your friends! Hopefully, I'll be able to get some guest teachers soon. :)

  • You are epic!

  • @xanycee At least she has the guts to do it! You need to leave people alone. DICK

  • This was great.Thank you so much for showing us how to do the shimmy. Please show us more. You are a natural. And have a gift for teaching so we can learn it.I'm luscious too.I been losing weight from 250 down now to 160.And need and want to learn belly dancing for my figure building.I don't have a waist,I'm straight up and down pretty much. And want one real bad. So,thanks and please make more for us luscious gals. And guys too of course.

  • @zolumpus FIRST: GO GIRL! you lost almost 100lbs! AWESOME!!! I'm so glad you're enjoying my tutorials. I've been doing a lot of performing lately, so it may be a while before I post more. Remember to love the body you're in-- losing weight can't change the way your body is naturally formed. Embrace your form! You'll find some moves look better on your form than others, and that is perfectly okay. I highly recommend that you find a local troupe or teacher if you want to excel. It's fun!

  • сделайте меня развидеть Оо

  • im sorry but this is just not cute.

  • @dancerprancer97 Good. I meant it to be instructional, not cute. If I wanted it to be cute, I would have done the whole tutorial while balancing a fuzzy bunny rabbit on my head. Have a nice day. :)

  • thanks for sharing you can really teach with patience thank you :)

  • @01doglover glad you liked my video. Thanks for your kind comment :)

  • i love it

  • @natashacrystal ...and I love you. :) Namaste.

  • PLEASE could you make a tutorial how to make OMI and walk with it?

I can make Omi while standing still, but travelling with it is so difficult,

I can't imagine how it works!

I would love to have a detailed tutorial, which muscles are to engage and some tricks while walking with it.

    Thank you very much!

  • @888Nefertari888 - Generally Omis are not used as a traveling movement. Like the belly roll, it is intended to draw attention to the hips, making that the focal point. Honestly, I think of you tried to travel with the Omi, the movement would not translate to the audience very well. Tahitian dancers (who almost exclusively Omi) are stationary for most of their performance. Traveling hip movements that are commonly used (and make aesthetic sense) are hip circles, twists, and shimmies.

  • @888Nefertari888 ...Eventually, I'll make a video about traveling moves. :)

  • Yes she's fat. So what? A woman is always beautiful :) She is beautiful, and it's cool for people who aren't totally skinny to see that dance isn't nice on supermodels only (sorry for the bad english)

  • @Italianalice ...I couldn't have said it better. Thank you. :)

  • @Italianalice

Excelent you explain quite well, thanks a lot

  • hahaha epic fail

  • @xXxDionneC ...Why? As far as I can see, the only thing I failed at was possibly fulfilling your expectations.

  • hahaha

  • Can you say, AWESOME? I really enjoyed watching the video, thanks so much for uploading this.

  • @Autumnbaby25 Yes, I CAN say AWESOME, and I will: Your comment is AWESOME! So glad you like it. :)

  • Hmm.. seems much easier when you see it!! XD

  • are you blind. she is fat. if you pushed her down a hill shed roll

  • @Ricciuti4 Actually, I think pretty much anyone would roll if pushed down a hill. Although by the time I reached the bottom, I'm sure I would have less broken bones and twisted joints...what with all the fat I have to cushion such an irrelevant experience...pushed down a hill...really? lol No one's saying I'm not fat, man. Lighten up.

  • You rock.. just sayin'! Thank you for making this video and giving me the inspiration to try try again! :)

  • @LidlChris YOU rock, and thank you for watching. :)

  • ozma you are awesome and BEAUTIFUL

  • @BeckyBecky706 Thank you!

  • amazing tutorial!! i finally get it!! xD

  • @PunkRockJes YAAAAY!!!! I'm so glad I could help you! :)

  • you go girl...what a confidence... a real woman...I don't usually like overweight people...but I like you...:-) I had never seen anything like it...

  • @tealeh2 How flattering. :) I'm not the only one. At least 50% of the most skilled, expressive dancers I know are overweight. It's all about the love. So glad to know you're feeling the love.

  • she's fucking AWESOME!!!

  • I'm a plus size, and after seeing her, i believe i can belly dance tooo :D :P

  • SAVE THE WHALES!

  • @daxon90 You get the award for funniest insulting comment. This just made me smile. Thanks for visiting.

  • HERMOSOOOOO!! GRACIAS =)

  • You're amazing! You go woman!

  • Your really pritty.... I meen im skinny and belly dance and all that.. But it bugs to alwayz just have me and skinny gurls doing this.... It takes alot of courage to say hey anyone can be sexy and belly dance hahahah jk... But yeah ur reAlly beautiful…

  • thanks, this is more helpful than the so-called "professional" videos on here. please continue to make more!

  • @anime1lvr Wow, thank you! I hope to post more tutorials soon, and incorporate guest teachers.

  • Omg thnx 4 Uploading u so much ur amazong:) im like fat to so im scared to go to real bellly dance classes cus most of em in there r so skiny n yea.. o well thnxx nw i cn finally try alone :D

  • @crazykimy1 ...and once you feel confident enough, try to find a troupe or class near you that has a positive teacher and supportive students. I promise--they're out there. You'll have time of your life.

  • 2 people couldn't do it.

  • trololololol :P !!!!!
