Have you noticed how this crap government is sacking experienced soldiers and recruiting young inexperienced people, when the experienced ones are the people we need to teach the young ones how to stay alive. But a young guy is cheaper to pay, also by increasing unemployment they make sure we have more young people with no choice. This has happened many times in our history.

I moved out of the UK, owing, in some part, to the little gobshites who rule the streets. And then you see chaps like this Chinook crew. Wholly selfless and professional, throwing the book outta the window to save a man`s life, and risking their own lives in the process. If men like this were on English streets, I`d be back and getting the drinks in.
Fantastic video, that really shows how focussed the guys & girls are in our forces.
We are eternally indebted to you all for your efforts, you are all hero's in my eyes.
The public should fully support our forces, whether you agree with the politicians or not is another matter, the guys & girls at the dirty end of the job are putting thier lives at risk every day, there can be no greater sacrifice.
Hats off to dust Off (MedEvac) Pilots, Medics and Force Protection troops from ALL NATO nations. There is NOTHING they won't do, and NOWHERE they won't go to rescue the wounded! Massive props to one and all.
it doesn't matter what flag these guys fight under(british, american, german, etc), it is still a sad thing to hear about a young man losing his life fighting a bunch of religious fanatics.
Our British Forces in Afghanistan are protecting us while we sleep safely in our beds. They're all fucking heroes. RIP Chris Gray and all those who have sacrificed their lives. We are eternally Indebted.

Respect for these guys, what an outstanding job, yet again our forces showing the world that we have the most proffesional, skilled people.
Too many people are quick to criticise what's going on out there, our guys should be fully supported.
I want to thank the very brave PTE Gray & all the other brave men & women who did not make it home, for helping us to keep the freedoms we all enjoy. RIP
11 minutes?, dont mean to sound a c*nt but im sure if more of the paperwork style stuff was changed it could be brought down to 5 atleast, 11 minutes when your missing a leg going into a coma is far too long
philt.. its not even as simple as nobody appreciates soldiers.. they dont know what there is to appreciate.. the average person lives a pathetic shell of a sheltered life and has no idea what its really like.. some are just ignorant self centered pricks.. others, its because governments not telling the story enough.. they try to keep the shit suppressed when what we should be doing is spamming it out there 24/7 so ppl appreciate and respect what you go through over there..
I am sure everybody supports the soldiers, we all know they are going through hard times and any person that puts their life on the line to protect others is an honorable person.
BUT its the cause of the wars that people do not support. Make yourself believe otherwise all you want but deep down inside even you know that people living below poverty that most probably have not even seen a TV or never used a microwave is hardly capable of navigating airliners into the towers with such precision.
sugarpuddin88 what the fuck are you going on about. until you have been where these guys and so many others have been you have no room to comment in such a shitty way. go play with your mum until you grow up
@MrOmniscient Don't take this as an insult because it's not, I'm just curious. Do you guys really only have two crew guys in the back of your chinooks?
wait,so an apache is slower than a chinook? even with a fully loaded arse? ive been in one of those things and they are massive! i would have thought the apache would be faster
yh the max speed they can do is 185mph or 298 km/h. which will out do a apache, but an apache will out turn and be able to more sharper then a chinook.
Apache pilots always feel a little awkward asking their Chinook pilot buddies to slow down, but they often have to because the Chinook can actually out run every combat helicopter in service.
Wow this video feels VERY intense. I can't even imagine how it is for all of them.
Thank goodness there are men and women on this planet that are willing to do this job, as I'm sure the majority of the population would not ever even try.
all the stuff ive heard about him he was a great soldier and when asked why are you fighting here he said "for the blokes next to me" he was a good soldier and died in close combat fighting as pointman in his squad trying to get his mates out of fire. the fire fight was only over 15m from the taliban line.
RIP -3 we will always remember you

Nobody appreciates our soldiers as much as they should anymore.
09phillt 2 years ago 113
philt.. its not even as simple as nobody appreciates soldiers.. they dont know what there is to appreciate.. the average person lives a pathetic shell of a sheltered life and has no idea what its really like.. some are just ignorant self centered pricks.. others, its because governments not telling the story enough.. they try to keep the shit suppressed when what we should be doing is spamming it out there 24/7 so ppl appreciate and respect what you go through over there..
mikeeed 2 years ago
I am sure everybody supports the soldiers, we all know they are going through hard times and any person that puts their life on the line to protect others is an honorable person.
BUT its the cause of the wars that people do not support. Make yourself believe otherwise all you want but deep down inside even you know that people living below poverty that most probably have not even seen a TV or never used a microwave is hardly capable of navigating airliners into the towers with such precision.

Those pilots - so impressive. But then again, that's the RAF.
Kentuckyhorse1 2 years ago 2
That was their first IRT flight of their deployment IIRC, also, don't forget the two crew in the back, pilots are almost helpless without them.
MrOmniscient 2 years ago
@MrOmniscient Don't take this as an insult because it's not, I'm just curious. Do you guys really only have two crew guys in the back of your chinooks?
napoleonpp 1 year ago
Fucking hell you can't even understand what the pilot is saying at the start he does it so fast.
indigodingobongo 2 years ago
wait,so an apache is slower than a chinook? even with a fully loaded arse? ive been in one of those things and they are massive! i would have thought the apache would be faster
royalsignaller101 2 years ago
Look at the size and power of the two engines a chinook has....:)
hoot72 2 years ago
remember the awful size of the chinook engines, opposite to a single rotary wing apache, which favored agility instead of speed.
spacidv2 2 years ago
Its well known that a Chinook can outrun an Apache. A helluva machine!
RailMon 2 years ago 9
yh the max speed they can do is 185mph or 298 km/h. which will out do a apache, but an apache will out turn and be able to more sharper then a chinook.
chillforlife1 2 years ago
Apache pilots always feel a little awkward asking their Chinook pilot buddies to slow down, but they often have to because the Chinook can actually out run every combat helicopter in service.

@elbanoc172 Depends on how much there load is.
We really, really need a escort for our helo's and more close air support. Fighters dont count so much, well 518's maybe but they are made for that

Wow this video feels VERY intense. I can't even imagine how it is for all of them.
Thank goodness there are men and women on this planet that are willing to do this job, as I'm sure the majority of the population would not ever even try.
Deovindice2001 2 years ago 2
i love chinook helicopters , i went in one when i was in army cadets , it was an amazing experince .
i wonder what the top speed of a chinook helicopter is probally about 300 mph maybe faster .
r.i.p
mcwhizzkid123 2 years ago
the top speed is 170 knots, which is 196 mph, but 315/kmh....you were close, just the wrong unit of measure. But yes, Chinooks are certianly amazing
voiceofvictory88 2 years ago
slightly faster going at 315kph, the WAH-64 does 293kph so like they said can't keep up

all the stuff ive heard about him he was a great soldier and when asked why are you fighting here he said "for the blokes next to me" he was a good soldier and died in close combat fighting as pointman in his squad trying to get his mates out of fire. the fire fight was only over 15m from the taliban line.
