@billeybop can you please explain me how you manage to stay alive with this big waves. if wave goes over you what do you do than? is your board attached to your leg and it pulls you on top of the water? or what do you do? I am new in this sport!

I recomend any surfer of any level to watch a film/doc called "Riding Giants", its about big wave surfing past and present and a few of your questions will be answered watching the DVD, and my GOD its amazing viewing. Its a great buy of a DVD. you can buy it at amazon or ebay. I must have watched it 15-20 times. And everytime it takes me away. Anyway hope you watch it. Laters.
