Hypocrisy Osculum Obscenum was the first death metal ablum I brought and so worth it !!! brillant album and awesome band, I miss peter from their new stuff !!! but still pretty good even after all these years !!!

Its folklore, or old witchcraft history if you can call it that. the "obscene kiss" was preformed by witches during their gatherings to show allegiance to the devil. So basically the witches gather around, summon the devil ...who usually would "appear" as a black goat. To show their allegiance the woman would then kiss the goat/devils anus. and often the witches are said to have sex with the devil/goat. ....the lyrics actually describe it as well.

@AbstraktCannon I agree with u, the vocals should have kept on with the deep growls, almost all their old stuff, is re-produced w/ Peter Tägtgren growling. This nr. incl. His growling is ok, the screams sounds, well..Bad! They should have stayed darker & not end up in the endless line of swedish melodeath. I admit The 4. Dimension is a great album, but after that I havent realy listened much to them.Though Tägtgren still is a great musician

Those were the days when Masse was on vocals. Peter has a great voice but Masse has some seriously fucking powerful growls that I could easily say he's the best death metal vocalist of all time.
