i just bought a female betta ... and i put them in together and the male betta was doing the same thing as this one . but the female betta had this two brownish line on her body i dont know why

the reson she did not have eggs the first try is cuz on the firrst try the females ussualy release no eggs, but they keep doing that wrap thing and she will release more and more eggs. Good luck with your next few tries!=)

Females usually have short tails, but that's not a sure way to tell since there is a type of betta called a plakat that can have short-tailed males as well (I have one). The best way to check is to look at the underbelly of a short-tailed betta and search for a little white protrusion. This is called the oviposter and is the tube females use to excrete eggs. Males don't have it. It is usually clearly visible as a white dot.

my brother got his fry hatched and they are like probably a month and a half now. so yeah, they are colored already. their dad are a pure red roundtail betta. pretty nice. and nice setup tank btw.

That was my first attempt. The female didn't release any eggs, and I decided after that that I wanted to wait anyway. Not sure I have room for 50+ fry. : P
