  • is that paint student grade?

  • amasing!!!!!

  • music please. great work, really kickass ^^, are you on DeviantArt?

  • Nice! It looks like you used Naples Yellow for the underpainting.....right? Have you ever tried Raw Umber mixed with White for that? I see you used Bright Red on later layers. That works real well with fair skin colors. Ever tried Vanetion Red? It works well with less fair skin, though still good. Another thing I noticed is that you use student grade paints. Yes they are expensive, though as good as you are now, I would recommend getting better ones. At least something series 3 or above.

  • I love everything about this painting, You are truely a great artist. I love the hair. I struggle so much with painting hair, Please do a video showing how you do it so great. :)

  • I have this painting hanging on my bedroom wall. I fall asleep to it every night picking it apart. What then seem flawless now is filled with imperfections. Which in my opinion is how we become greater at what we do. I imagine I will do an other painting in this style again at some point to see if I can fine tune the application a bit. Thank you all for watching it 30,000+ times. ~A. DELIGHT

  • Hi Amanda,

it is very, very wonderful! I like it so much!

    With warmest regards

    from germnan Martina

  • @REDROSE371 Thank you so much, Im glad you enjoyed it. It was my first time trying the technique. It creates a nice effect on the skin.

  • Delightful.

  • @deborahknight20 hah! Thank you.

  • Hi Amanda. I am just starting out as a painter. Love your stuff. Could I please have an invite to the network please? Many thanks. Lee :0)

  • this is really good! Also what song is this?

  • hi amanda im just starting to learn oil painting..i want to ask if i realy need to spread a linseed oil every layer and it realy will take several day every layer to dry..?

  • Hi amanda :) You're video is awesome, thanks for sharing! I just learnt today about the flemish technique and i needed to confirm with more videos, thank you so much. For the second layer you depict on this vid, what specific colors refer to that layer in general? cool monochromes? Metallics? Black n White? cuz i've been focusing too much on acrylic, now i need to focus on oil in portraiture. Do u find it to be true that oils naturally enhance portraitures?Thank u again and gr8 choice in music:)

  • You are very welcome!!!!

Think of the dead underlayer like the moon ( I didnt really show much of it here) , not black and white, but more like the moon with a blue glow. Here is a hint, use thin washes of paynes gey. I have another video on this technique where I show more of it. I also have a break down of it on my social network. Oil is so wonderful for portraits!!!! Good luck and have fun!!!!

  • Thank you so much Amanda, much appreciated :) !!!

  • @AmandaDelight

where can i go to see your more expanded version on this technique?

    ; )

    Thanx

  • Beautiful!

  • Thank you so much for checkin it out!!

  • Amazing work. Thank you for sharing.

  • Thank you and you are very welcome!!!!

  • how do people do this? its amazing

  • Thank you so much!

This was my first try at this technique, I learned a lot from doing it and was glad that I captured for all to see! Thanks for watching!!!!

  • who many layers you use?

  • Depends on the area.

Some parts have only a few layers, where as others have so many, I lost track. I feel as though you just keep adding till you feel its done. This painting was done over a three month period.

  • This was about 20-30 layers in most places of the skin tone.

  • May I know what kind of brushes did you use to paint the hair? is it flat synthetic brushes? :/

  • Yes, in this video I used all synthetic brushes for the hair and the skin. Thanks for asking.

  • love the song too, great work

  • Splendide !!!

  • Thank you so much!
