i wonder why you have at 160 km/h already about 5000 rpm. i had the smaller engine (1,6i c16nz-engine from 1988) without any tuning or specials and had at 160km/h only about 4000rpm and made it to vmax near 200km/h. but actually your engine must me stronger...

@CrypticCrow My car has 5 speed gearbox. So, I have 5000 rpm at 160 km/h on 4th gear. Had I changed to 5th gear, the rpm would have been less.

@hamstersong123 That's a good question. First, I let the engine rev at 4500 rpm. Then I release the clutch pedal and the tires start to spin. That's the reason why the speedo jumps to 40 km/h right at start. The front tires spin at 40 km/h and you can hear tires screeming a bit. Then the tire get traction on the road and I reach 50 km/h on 1st gear. Then I quickly change to 2nd gear. It all happens pretty quickly in the vid. Watch carefully.

The car takes off at just before 0:04 on the video and hits 100 km/h at 0:15 or so. I'd say 11,5 sec. 0-100 km/h acceleration.

I digged this car out of a local car dealer's used car lot. I gotta a pretty sweet deal on it. I had the car for three years and the running costs were minimal. Nothing broke or went wrong during those three years! All I did was 3 oil changes and some hard driving. No other maintenance was needed. These old Opels were built tough.

I have only driven 1992 Opel Astra 2.0 with 115 hp. It's pretty close to Vectra in weight, being only slightly lighter. The 2.0 engine has more torque and likes high revs more. You can feel the 25 extra horsepower compared to 1.8 with 90 hp. Opel Astra with 2.0 actually is pretty quick car. Back in the days it took by surprise many other drivers racing late in the night...

That's true. There's so much torque down the rev range that a shifted to 3rd gear already at 90 km/h. I didn't want to rev it all the way to redline.

Opel Vectra has more weight and maybe longer gear ratios than Honda Civic. That's why Vectra is so slow.

dude.. that is so slow!! i got a cavalier 1.8 8v (the english name for the same car) and mine would have hit 160kh(100 mph) about 7 seconds before yours... i think u have a problem with it, get it checked out... and mines 10.3 seconds to 60, u did it in just over 11...

This car only has 90 horsepower. Engine is old 1.8i with 8 valves. Very old technology. Car is made in 1994, so it's very old model too.

Thanks for feedback. I shifted early because the old 8-valve 1.8i engine gives max hp already at 5400 rpm. The redline is at 6000 rpm, but the engine obviously doesn't like high revs. But I will keep on trying...

No, it's actually a 5 speed manual. Maybe it sounds a little bit like autobox when shifting. (Also, the sound is slightly off-sync with the image. That's why the rpm's drop before you can hear the gear change.)
