@pslaureenha I find that her looking at the camera is hilarious! But annoying as well! It kinda freaks me out a tad bit, bc she is giving a scary glare! But then there is the fact that it was just a video recording, not a concert performance! lol
For example, Madonna doesn't have much vocal power, but she puts on a great performance. Erika, here, sounds lovely but is is sort of iffy on hitting all her notes clearly. Her performance, while riveting, is compelling because she contorts so much.
I really liked her performance but since i've just started listening to classical music i have no idea what "Eb" or "F" are, i mean i know they are notes but what's the diference? and were could i hear it, someone tell me plz!
well. they are two really high notes. only good singers (very rare!!!) are capable of singing them well! it is even more hard for a dramatic-coloratura soprano to sing it because ther voice has to be "harder".
it's really good, but i have to say, she has a very nasal bell, i can see she doesn't understand what she's singing 'acuse she has the same face expresion, she needs understand what she's singing otherwise is only a beautiful sound exibition whith a nice dress
The singing is good, but she always has the same expression on her face in her videos. I begin to wonder if she understands any of the songs she sings.
She is the queen of the night of our days and a very good Lucia. Here however I am afraid to admit that she sounds and looks bored with this music. The change of an Eb for and F at the end was fun.
Bravissima.
she is hot! but thats about it. seriously, the whole point of the aria is the lovely grace notes that fall everywhere, and she is simply not doing them! yea her voice is pretty, but this is the wrong rep for her. legato, acting? I'm a tough critic. But she is quite beautiful. looking.
Yes, I also miss the grace notes. She also needs to work on her french pronunciation....way too many 'n's in there. I also have the feeling that she doesn't know what the words mean....I don't see it in her expression, either facially or vocally.
Oy! She's in a in a Spice Girl-Pussycat Doll-Playboy sort of way (but as a gay man, I'd care more if she were hot in a Ricky Martin sort of way...but I digress). The voice is quite nice, and she obviously has the technique to sing the grace notes, but where are they? The F was gorgeous, though.
divine is not a strong enough description . . .

I actually like the whole looking into the camera thing. It makes the performance seem more personal as she tries to connect with the viewer. Bravo!

One must remember; singers have three strengths:
1-Appealing sound quality
2- Technical ability
3-performance strength.
For example, Madonna doesn't have much vocal power, but she puts on a great performance. Erika, here, sounds lovely but is is sort of iffy on hitting all her notes clearly. Her performance, while riveting, is compelling because she contorts so much.
I, personally like her sound very much.
