it doesnt look like stop action... in the scene when theyre lying down, you can see the cars in the background moving correctly... from what i know, stop action is filming very little, stopping, moving, and filming very little again repeatedly... and by doing that the cars in the background would have time to move more....

it's not stop action, it's video recorded with a lot of the frames removed to give a stop action effect. You can tell because of the blur when the camera pans.
