  • thats cool man nicely done

  • cant believe that thing flew, its all so out of line, guess i will throw the rule book away now !!

  • Co2 car with wings?

  • Comment removed

  • Nice dude!!!! Excellent stuff

  • you flew it with windy conditions

    impresive!

  • excellent work man

  • Who ever did the 1 dislike is a big DUMBASS

  • cool plane i hear all sorts of birds i wont hear in the states - nice

  • she fly's nice. I love scratch building I just like seeing what i can make fly.

  • prices for old shoe boxes just went up

  • just waiting for the lightning to hit it

  • just throw the damn thing lol

  • lol ive also seen a 31in wing made from card board with a megajet v3 for power. this looks like a good plane i want somthing like this a cargo type plane. ive seen one called the cargo condor 4x BW motors it flew great it could even knife edge and was just so stable and smooth for somthing so big but no plans for it grrrr

  • @damafia29 vid for the cardboard flying wing

    watch?v=I7u9LQRltHs

    add after youtubedotcom/

  • That impresses me a lot more than a multi huge dollars 33% Extra ARF.

  • @jeffie8696 Agreed

  • Love the "Nose Dragger" caption :-) Inspiring project! I've blown my budget on heli's but still miss planes, simple and cheap is a great idea

  • @robcdillon Well differential thrust has been enabled, bomb bay almost compete and new wheels to be installed before the weekend. Hopefully the weather plays along now. Hopefully will get some on-board footage next.

  • just lob it............!

  • @kitingboarding It is possible but where would the fun be testing things that should not roll or fly. ;-)

  • Ha Ha that kicks butt guys. Just change the wheels and I think your set since it's the only thing on your cheap plane that didn't work out. If the way you have it wired and operating works for you...then keep on flying.

  • @LIPOPILOT Wheels being modded this weekend, the rear ones worked fine so will be doubling up in the front. ;-) Differential thrust this weekend and bomb bay the following. Lets just hope the weather plays along now. ;-) It will be doing a lolly drop at the Tokora Takeoff/Kiwi Probro event later this year. I am sure xjet will get some more footage and the chaos that will ensure afterwards.

  • @thekneedrag I figured you would get her fixed up, I cant wait for the candy drop and I hope xjet films it. Good stuff.

  • @LIPOPILOT yeah she is in for differential thrust programming today and bomb bay installation. ;-) Unfortunately the wind is anything but flyable so will have to wait till next weekend.

  • more!

  • that's crazy! i want one!

  • You can't beat a plane that people say shouldn't /won't fly and it does a better job on some of the planes people think will fly and don't ;-) top job mate and happy flying = thumbs up from me.

  • @startazz If it has a wing and powerful enough motor it will fly. ;-) Sometimes you don't even need the wing. ;-) However this one was very docile even in the wind. Can't wait to get it out on a calm day and trim it out a bit and play with its other features. ;-) Already have a way of changing the nose wheel to work. The rear wheels worked just fine now to make the nose the same. ;-) EPP wheels rule. ;-)

  • One battery for each motor, wtf why? :P

  • @SvenOkonomi The speed controllers I am using offer me individual cell protection. So it monitors via the balance tab. If I ran with one battery and the monitor detected a cell dropped below the 3.2V mark it would cut the power to one motor however the other motor would still draw power and kill the lipo. So running two lipo's allows me to run two smaller batteries with the redundancy of one lipo dying for whatever reason I still have one motor left flying.

  • @thekneedrag If both ESCs are identical, you can link the two ESCs cell protectors together with a Y-cable, its just volt probes. If the main battery goes, both ESCs would react. Then you can cut throttle to reinitialize the ESCs and give it about 10% less then where it cut off to fly home. Flying a twin engine with one of em down is a nightmare anyway. Separate FPV power is smart, but you shouldn't add servos to that circuit. Servos are motors and motors give you RF noise. Nice SPAD though! ;)

  • @SvenOkonomi Yes is it was standard ESC's that would be the way to connect them. However you will see that each ESC has an extra adapter to connect to the balance tab of the battery. If that senses a cell has dropped to critical level it will stop the motor and you will not be able to fire it up again. If you were running only one cell via a y connector you would have that issue however your second ESC will not know the individual cell count and kill the lipo in the process.

  • @thekneedrag Im familiar with the Turnigy Sentry ESCs youre using. The Y connector would be to split the single packs balance lead to both ESCs so they could both read the voltage and more then likely react simultaniously. There would be a Y-cable connecting both escs probe leads together AND one to connect both escs power leads.

  • @SvenOkonomi Ok I see what you mean. But that would involve spending more money. ;-) In Total this was build with scraps I had lying around and the airframe cost me about $20. Was doing it to see how cheap I could get away with. Motor speed controllers servo's all came from previous RIP models.

  • @SvenOkonomi I am also not reliant on the ESC's for power to the rx. So worst case I if I lose both ESC's I still have servo control. In addition to that the FPV has its own 3S lipo. Short of installing redundant servo's and rx I should be safe in the case of most failures. The end goal is a larger flying platform with expensive camera gear so making sure that short of a structural failure the I should be able to return to the ground in more or less one piece. ;-)

  • I was thinking early on in the video that if he can keep the nose up long enough, it would be easy to land since it will have natural braking! That's quite a cool plane actually :)

  • i have a plane of that desing, looks better, but saim desing

  • Can I bolt my new 90ER Pulse Jet to one of those.Ore at least an old Bailey.I think it is cute.

  • haha thats to cool! Im still waiting for our winter lol

  • its a SPAD

  • that should not fly

  • @shoopwhoopX I fly a lot of things that in "old school" terms should not fly.

It is based on a 75% cargo twins on RCgroups but built with scrap. ;-) Actually a very nice docile plane to fly considering the EPP wheels and other bit and bobs. Glad you all enjoyed watching it. ;-)
