@AHickenUK I dont get why. The other armies did not do too well against the germans either. On average the allied army had to be replaced 4 times to defeat one army. Some armies more (the ruskies) some armies less (the allies on the western front).

@cassius969 Yes, and France is a nation which hasn't provoked much aggression over the last century, it's been a great influence and stabilising presence in the world. French Peacekeepers are all over the world and have been a close ally to the UK and US among with the rest of Europe. There is a lot of countries out there I wouldn't want to have so much power, influence and proximity, I'm glad France is one which holds all three and knows how best to use them though.

The Afghan police have issues with corruption, not to mention the Afghan people have no trust in them. They have trust in the Afghan military though. As for the government, come on did you pay attention to the last election? Karzai (whose brother is one of the biggest opium dealers in the country) & Abdulluh Abdullah fought over whehter the election was fair or not. The only reason Karzai won was b/c Abdullah stepped down. Then there is also the lack of trust in the government also.

All goverments r corrupt in some shape or form, the main issue with Afghanistan is the tribal issues which are more important to them than any goverment, tribal factions have been warring for decades and only briefly united during the soviet invasion. The same issues were around during King Zahirs time. Ive never known there to be a perfect war with perfect circumstances.Sometimes you have to work with what you have and overcome and adapt. As they say you cant buy a afghan but you can rent one.
