  • Poetic, psychedelic, epic, romantic, melancholic, rebellious, philosophical, chaotic, inspirational, sublime, madness with a perfect balance of instrumentation. Where else can you get all this in one exquisite musical treat?

  • A thinker, a poet, and an expanding soul, flying on the musical energy of time. That is PH!

  • always the best... masterpiece

  • John Lydon quotes Hammill as his direct inspiration for comitting his punk 'atrocities'....Nadir..

  • When Charlie Sheen want's to get emotional, he plays Pete Hammill tunes...

  • yeah, but, can't download pompeii anywhere, are they scared or something equally wank and crap?

  • Peter Hammill - dealer of the most powerful drug only few people know how to get, since most people never even heard of this artist. I feel so lucky to know him and his music. Pretty much lifechanging for me.

  • One of the best of my "old" deep poetic years 70 !!! wow, wonderful, delicious...

  • pure art...

  • The lyrics are great... and the music, although it is on a "solo" album, is pure vdgg as much as Sleepwalkers or Man-Erg.

  • How could he know so much?

How could he bear such knowledge?

How could he dare to write it in the songs? - OK slightly misquoted, but maybe you will understand why...

  • Now I see the garden that I've grown is just the same as those outside;

the fences that, erected to protect, simply divide...

God damn, why do I ALWAYS have to cry at that line?

  • Una delle sue canzoni più belle (anche se di sue stupende ce ne sono moltissime)!

  • @hammill88

    Sono d'accordo con te!

  • This is taken from the Van Der Graaf Generator LP that never was. All the members are there but this still came out as a Hammill solo effort. Love this song and also the epic A Louse Is Not A Home. Hammill is a brilliant wordsmith and a classic voice.

  • Dios mío, cómo compone éste tipo...

  • "There is so much sorrow in the world,

there is so much emptiness and heartbreak and pain.

Somewhere on the road we have all taken a wrong turn...

how can we build the right path again?"- Nothing more to say...

  • Poetry.

    How true...

    I love this song.

  • Thanks a lot for uploading this masterpiece and for calling it by its name: poetry.

  • @Vanniberna Sure: you can read my comment...I never forgot this pure, romantic and poetic song for all my life ! 35 years later, I listen to and it is one of these songs symbolizing the greatest moments of my life...

  • Perhaps one of Hammill's greatest songs (among so many others) or, maybe, one I like so much (along with Faint heart and A louse). Thanks for sharing!

  • @Room335sb One of the greatest songs ever, a shame only a relative low number know this and other masterpieces

  • Come into my garden if you will.

I like someone to show it all before each root is killed....

  • great song...

  • One of the best ever..
