Poetic, psychedelic, epic, romantic, melancholic, rebellious, philosophical, chaotic, inspirational, sublime, madness with a perfect balance of instrumentation. Where else can you get all this in one exquisite musical treat?
Peter Hammill - dealer of the most powerful drug only few people know how to get, since most people never even heard of this artist. I feel so lucky to know him and his music. Pretty much lifechanging for me.
This is taken from the Van Der Graaf Generator LP that never was. All the members are there but this still came out as a Hammill solo effort. Love this song and also the epic A Louse Is Not A Home. Hammill is a brilliant wordsmith and a classic voice.
@Vanniberna Sure: you can read my comment...I never forgot this pure, romantic and poetic song for all my life ! 35 years later, I listen to and it is one of these songs symbolizing the greatest moments of my life...
Perhaps one of Hammill's greatest songs (among so many others) or, maybe, one I like so much (along with Faint heart and A louse). Thanks for sharing!

The lyrics are great... and the music, although it is on a "solo" album, is pure vdgg as much as Sleepwalkers or Man-Erg.

How could he know so much?
How could he bear such knowledge?
How could he dare to write it in the songs? - OK slightly misquoted, but maybe you will understand why...

Now I see the garden that I've grown is just the same as those outside;
the fences that, erected to protect, simply divide...
God damn, why do I ALWAYS have to cry at that line?

Una delle sue canzoni più belle (anche se di sue stupende ce ne sono moltissime)!

"There is so much sorrow in the world,
there is so much emptiness and heartbreak and pain.
Somewhere on the road we have all taken a wrong turn...
how can we build the right path again?"- Nothing more to say...
