  • Just picked up a used Legacy and am really falling in love with it. I've always been a Les Paul guy or at least a humbucker guy but have had a recent change of heart. Is there any way to learn more about a specific model by it's Serial #? I bought mine used and have no clue about it other than it's black with a white tortesshell pick gaurd. BTW, Nice cops.

  • How does the whammy bar feel on the Legacy??

  • I'm thinking about getting this or a fender american standard strat for the holidays. What is better. Please give your reasons why.

Note: im a lefty so i can't find a place to play g&l guitars

  • i like the comanche way better

  • i have a 96 legacy (3bolt neck). mine is the cherry sunburst color as i call it with the maple neck. definatly love it. in my opinion to anybody who is thinking about buying one - i own an american standard strat also and it seems like leo fender took the strat ideas and made some of them better. and like he said in the video, the bridge is better built as i think the whole guitar is. very nice product. BUT i do think i am going to put lindy fralin blues specials in mine..i love those :)

  • I own a 1994 Legacy and I just love that guitar, nothing tops it, you can see it in my hendrix videos, It's red finish, maple neck, best guitar I ever owned

  • same as my asat

  • G&L guitars sounds better than fender IMO.the quality,i.e. fret job is a notch better;)

  • where are you guys located? i want to customize my own guitar. whre can i do that?

  • @RichieVallejos Dr. Woods Guitar Emporium is in Fox River Grove, IL. G&L has all of their customization options listed on their website. Any authorized G&L dealer can place an order for a guitar made with whatever specs you desire. Deliver time is usually 6-10 weeks. Hope that helps.

  • thats one damm beautiful looking guitar i must say ..wow!, dont lose this one man :-)

    this guitar is HOT!

  • I saw a legacy guitar over at the amazon and saw a bundle without an amplifier and it just costs $79.99!!! SO CHEAP!

  • @0takuBoy its probably a tribute

  • did u upgrade the pick-ups or u using the standard Alnico V single coils? i just bought this guitar yesterday actually, just waiting for it to get here. i can only hope it sounds half as good as yours! :D

  • just bought a G&L Legacy today, actually. i'm sure yours is closer to the $1500 or so model, but i'm sure i'll be pleased with how mine plays as well. find out in 3-5 business days! =)

  • you mean a legacy style stratocaster

  • @MikleShnikle Most Def, Homie

  • I'm thinking about getting this guitar but with Fender Hot Vintage Noiseless. Do you think it would sound good? Also I think i might get a guitar with pretty much the same look lol. The vintage white is dayumn sexy.

  • @free2rym99 If you want noiseless pickups try the G&L S500. It's a Legacy with noiseless pickups and a couple other basic upgrades.

  • Wht is the name of the song during 8:00?

  • Hello, how different does this guitar sound compared to a tele? I'm thinking of getting one and I've found it cheap!

  • you look just like the one guy from "Whose Line Is It Anyway"

  • too much info...just play ! thank yu .

  • I've got a legacy and a Bluesboy. As good as Fender custom shop imo.

  • nice im in illinois interested in G&Ls. for sure gonna trek out to the shop

  • More Floyd stuff on your walls!

Come one there is still plenty of space left!

G&L makes nice stuff. Still do. I have a ASAT tribute semi hollow - which I like for finger picking stuff - Knopfler mostly. It just sounds rich and twangy.

    Peace.

  • props on the Dark Side poster

  • Really nice, good to hear you make it sound good and explain things well too, i might be interested in buying one of these... im looking for a new guitars and been thinking of getting a G&L don't know yet i'll have to try a couple since i will only buy one in a while. Anyways thanks for this review !

  • 7:53 to 8:29 was awesome

  • my friend has a G&L legacy hb. its name is guato lupea!

  • " Sounds more like a strat then a strat sounds like a strat " lmao

ive been considering getting a lecacy, i need to get a tribute one tho cause im kinda broke

  • O número de visitas de um vídeo equivale a qualidade do último.

  • Aren't all new G&Ls shipped with that style case or was i misinformed?

  • @coonce1986

It may depend on the model, but I know the standard case for the USA legacy is a black molded plastic case. A very nice case, indeed, but not as fancy as the tweed. So yeah, the tweed case is typically an upgrade and costs a small amount extra.

  • G&L > Fender....Great video man

  • I understand you work(ed) for a G&L dealer, I was looking into getting a tribute or a standard mexi strat fender. At this price range do you still recommend the G&L? anyone feel free to drop me some advice

  • @miller434 Get a G&L tribute Legacy. The sound is about even with an American Fender Stratocaster, but 1000 dollars cheaper. I'm getting one soon, and you should too.

    Play one, dude.

  • just a question,

did you have to drill a hole when you put locking tuner??

  • @echph7 Locking tuners are a standard option on a new USA G&L, its about a $30 upcharge I believe. The bore on the headstock for locking tuners is a bit larger than a regular tuning machine, however, so if you plan on replacing existing tuners with those of the locking variety you will likely have to do some drilling. Hope that answers your question.

  • I have never played a Fender that I thought compared to a G&L made in the states..

  • hey sweet guitar.

what gauge do you use on it?

  • kirbiak90ZX, you may already know this but leo fender had a bit to do with musicman as well as g&l

  • I have the exact same guitar and I love it

  • Hey man,

Amazing guitar...do you have to order the guitar through a dealer or can you just order from the factory?

  • i got that guitar too basically its a beast thats all you really need to know

  • I'm a bass player and for a loooong time i always thought that Music Man made the best basses cuz thats what a LOT of ppopular bands play with. But in June this year i ordered a G&L tribute series L2500 bass, natural gloss finish with maple fingerboard, SWEEEET bass, i can get any tone outta that thing, and the quality is far better than ANYTHING in its price range. even compared to the American made G&L's, the tributes are so closely related in quality its unreal.

  • You play very well.

  • Beautiful guitars aren't they? I have a Legacy & a Fullerton ...I'll never part with any of my G&L's!

  • good job! nice tone!

  • nice guitar, i have the red one and love it

  • Or Eric.... Excellent sound btw!

  • Yeah. Good choice of guitar. I recently treated myself to a USA Legacy HB. Far better than anything Fender make nowadays in my opinion. Leo left us with a great series of guitars. Pity to hear that George died recently. Keep on rockin'.

  • Bill,

I'm looking at one of those Legacy HB's. My only concern is how does the bridge pickup sound when it is split? I've had guitars where you split the HB and it just sounds thin and crappy. And another question is how does the second position sound? Does it combine the middle and bridge as a HB or SC? or both? I can't seem to get good answers searching on the internet.. Thanks, kevin

  • PGS does a good demo of that guitar

  • Yeah, and not a lame ass review.

  • Hey Bill!

I have a similar question to chico280. I am looking at a G & L Legacy HB. It sounded amazing. The G & L Legacy S-500 seems to look more like a traditional strat with the slanted bridge pickup.

I really want to get into blues/rock and soul in a big way.

Is there an advantage to either?

    Thanks Bill!

  • Agree with you COMPLETELY bro, if you want what Leo had in mind in the EARLY days of his creations, before he sold the company, G&L's so closely represent that theres simply nothing that can touch 'em, Even Gibsons are following the same line as fender is now, theyre just way overpriced for what you're actually getting.

  • Alnico's or MDF's?

  • I believe alnico. MDF's are on the 500's.

  • Sweet ;-)

  • Just got my USA Legacy pimped out w/ Bound neck and lots of options. Played strats for 30 years. Hands down this is a better guitar than any strat and the pickups are incredible, i'm gonna put some in my fenders. Get the Schallers stays in tune for days. best git I ever owned and I've owned a lot!

  • hey nice gutiar i bought a sunburst one with woodgrain pickguard i love it where a can i get a neck like yours?

  • Hi,

    great review !

I'm going to buy one, but i hesitate between SPERZEL OR SCHALLER tuners??? Which one fits the G&L better (means, no drilling or wathever...)

    Thank a lot !!!

  • I'm going to pick on up tomorrow. I CAN'T WAIT !!! switching from Epi SG to this should be a real nice treat. I will post vid of it when i get it.

  • ~When you opened the case my heart started racing....what a beautiful guitar....nice choice....G&L's have a different vibe than the "other" strat guitars....my Legacy sounds more like a strat than a strat does....great guitar....have fun with her....~~

  • Thanks for the video =)

  • Very nice review! An G&L Legacy will certainly be my next guitar! Its gets the sound from the world that my Les Paul can't take me too... very nice!

  • Nice ad for Dr. Woods lol im tryin to get alot of my friends to take lessons there

  • Dude, I'm really sorry about your Fender being stolen. That was a really nice guitar. :(

Your new G&L is about 3 types of sexy my friend. Always awesome to hear you play bro!

    Hope all is well!

    - Adam

  • Yo dood,

Good to hear from ya again, Adam. Come into Woods sometime to visit man. Tell yer dad I said hey.

  • I'll actually be coming back for lessons pretty soon. I just need to set some things in order first. :)

  • @87Pariah GOOD DISCRIPTION! LOL!
