try making sure that non of the previous hits are counter hits.... it seems that sometimes if you have that on your opponent flies across the room.

By turning that off in practice mode you have a better chance of other hits connecting.

Additionally try learning the maximum distance that the first move makes. If you attempt to do that your previous moves wont push the opponent as you do the rest of the combo.

it's like EWGF but with the square button. Instead of doing the normal "forward, down, down+forward, forward + square" you do "forward, down+forward+square" it's much harder to do compared with the normal, takes a lot of timing etc.
