You only whine about record profits because you don't understand marginal cost, gross revenue, and profit margin. If you take the numbers in perspective, which most economic illiterates don't, you'll find that oil companies make a normal amount of profit, compared to most other companies. Most likely, you pay more in taxes on a gallon of gas than you do profit for oil companies.
Here it is almost 30 years later and we are still depending on foreign oil. This wasn't Carter's fault at all. Problem is the repulicans keep ignoring this. They make so much money fro the Oil companies whow make record breaking profits from this they just want to keep it going. Although I only a little kid when Carter was president I know he was in office at a bad time. Reagan Bush, W. Bush all ignored this issue and made money. Clinton did all he could to help. Obama 08!
