Point well taken. As someone part of whose extended family is sikh and the other part hindu, I lived through those dark days and weeks in Delhi in 1984 in absolute shock and horror. It is wrong to tarnish a whole community for a sins of a few (goes both ways). I however, would like to ask you - what is your perspective on the daily murder and massacre of hundreds, possibly thousands of Hindus in Punjab by groups like Babbar Khalsa, KLF (I forget their names now), in the years leading upto 1984?
its a melodious poetry ,, just close your eyes , hear this song , the music is just right & so haunting , the words are so meaningful & ..... just cant describe ....
@arunabhatapadar who was misguided Sikhs or entire India by the establishment. I ask this 1 millionth time to a Hindu who doesnt seem to understand, what would you do if you bloody see your father burnt alive, your wife sister, mother raped in front of you your children being butchered in front you, your loving family killed your house burnt, your business, shop, livelyhood for which you struggled all your life to build burn . On top of that no remorse "when big tree falls earth will shake"

Hi.. maybe I can help U... Water O.. Water. Water of The Ocean Come, fill my eyes And take away my sleep Water O Water Cascade down these mountains Misty valleys will come along But You must keep on flowing You will pass a village You will pass a home (Ghar) You must go to my home And take away my sleep
Water O.. Water. Water of The Ocean Come, fill my eyes And take away my sleep Water O Water Cascade down these mountains Misty valleys will come along But You must keep on flowing You will pass a village You will pass a home (Ghar) You must go to my home And take away my sleep
emotional ? yes, but very close to heart and reality- can't describe what i saw, don't have words- thanks our hindu brothers and sisters- and thanks for posting.justice, love and peace for all.
"Have you ever seen a waterfall retrace its path?...I have seen it...rather heard it in didi's voice. The tinkling notes of her taan tumble forth like a waterfall plunging down a cliff and then go back exactly the same way."
Lataji at her best collaboration with Gulzar as director. If you love this film, you must also watch Mausam starring Sanjeev Kumar and Sharmila Tagore as well as Ghar starring Vinod Mehra and Rekha. Both films were directed by Gulzar with Lataji as the main female playback singer. Dil Se starring Shahrukh Khan and Manisha Koirala also features Lataji as the main female playback singer and Gulzar as lyricist. Enjoy!
She starts by singing about water. Bitter water in my eyes taking with it my empty dreams... then later as she looks at the mountain streams she tells it of the journey its about to go on, telling it down stream it will come to a village where her home is. Cant make much sense after that, its quite a complicated song. soz
Amazingly full of pathos!Apart from Lata, don't forget lyricist the great Gulzar and the one who desreves all the praise for this gem-the music director-Vishal Bhardwaj.
it makes u realise the value of ur loved ones to the core.ironic is it then that a person fights with them, curse them, confronts them all for sense less reasons.and wen u want to talk to them , u r so far that even ur voice cant reach them.important it is to realise this but sadly........ it comes all but in the end.the tragedy is that, its too late then, too late to understand and too big a burden to merely cry on.comprehend then that this world is based on the cuse and effects of suffering!
Tabu is looking just amazing...

BYW, its Gulzar, not AR Rehman.
Ye rudaali jaisi raatein gum raaton mein
Bita dena, ....
Subtitles :P
Spent the night like a lost-night of a mourner,
If a sweet bird sings to my eyes, chase it away,
As it touches the snow the season melts,
Turns the season to green,
Empties me of my sleep.
direct translation of the song is vague - coz it is poetic.
