  • most of that stuff was in leapard and snow leopard. and the new ones are not hidden

  • 0:36 - 1:30 are features that's been in windows for a while, and you are all hot of them being 'hidden?' 2:50 - 3:00 Really, I know that's been in windows since XP or earlier, how is that new. Symbol to Text Conversions is a bad idea for the low level note pad or the Mac equivalent, seeing as that can lead to troubles when you are doing any code.

OMG really, Restoring From trash, that's just sad if you are excited about that new feature, when it's been in windows atleast since XP

  • His voice is so calm....

  • Nice subbed :D

  • I saw a lot of customizability in that. Wow. (not sarcasm)

  • good work!! Ignore the dipsticks in this world ... unproductive people who alwayw whinge, whinge, whinge!!

Keep up the great work!! Thank you!!!

  • hey can u tell me a good free screen recorder ??? thx...

  • @eerfotibmag in snow leopard you can click on your quicktime and click file and choose new screen recording...then you can opt for audio once you click it

  • Until you grow balls I suggest you use Subtitles

  • you suck

  • Wow, I was hoping for some insane hidden features.. But these are things Windows has been able to do for a very long time...

  • @N3eon not really

  • i already knew these, but thumbs up anyway for making a good video

  • finder tips are also in leopard, at least in 10.5.8 v.

  • all this features were in windows long before snow leopard :) pff mac fans apple copy a lot of features from windows..

  • @ferdil1987 exactly

  • @ferdil1987 i agree lmao i just noticed that as well

  • Thanks for this tips.

  • your voice is annoying

  • Oh it is not annoying. He's just a young guy. Give him a break. He's just trying to help people learn shit.

  • seriously, stop hating on stupid shit like that.

  • Why are you talking like that

  • thanks for this good vid

  • so because they decided to make it simple means its for retards?

    you are a dumbass

  • Try doing this in Windows 7:

    ps auwx | grep Safari

    7:00pm 2:13.14 /Applications/Safari.app/Contents/MacOS/Safari -psn_0_131104

This is OSX. What is so different to Linux (besides the Gnome/KDE crashes) that warrants your imbecile comments? Perhaps you are the retard? Feel free to reply.

    You are the retard.

  • the table of contents in preview was always there and ithink cover flow always resized itself with the window... im also pretty sure that the 'automatic time' setting has been there for a long time

  • Some of those features actually came with leopard. They just wernt as easy to get to. (exept for the thing with (c) that was there already.

  • I found a way to make Snow Leopard wash my car and score me some coke. It's awesome.

  • OSX is great looking and I'm thinking of using it on my Dell Mini netbook.Only snag is that Linux, specifically using Ubuntu, you can easily get it to look and function much like OSX with a theme and a dock. The (c) etc symbols have been in openoffice for quite a while. Apple sells unix supported hardware for far more than it sells in a PC.Windows is made by the devil and is full of viruses, spyware, fragmentation, cluttered registry, unsecured I could go on and on.

    Linux>OSX>Windows

  • Windows 7 puts this to shame! Hell, 7 puts all OS's to shame!!! 7 is a masterpiece! .....Vista was the worst! Good luck Mac..lol

  • Vista is not the worse ME is the worse

  • Yep.. you have a point, I forgot about ME... ok, Vista is a close second :)

  • I hope for your sake you're right otherwise it's $120 down the drain.

  • Yes It is worth it.. Remember the price of Vista?? LOL Priceless...

  • its like 30 dollars actually dude

  • not snow leopard, windows 7

  • These features aren't hidden. :/

  • Wow, macs can finally perform the same functions as a PC, except at twice the price! Brilliant!

  • Comment removed

  • lol

  • twitter sucks

  • The only way those features are hidden is if you have your eyes closed.

  • u were highlighting features that WERE highlighted in apples keynote while the video is titled 'Snow Leopard: Hidden Features'.

  • very well put together, and most professional ! thanks ! kep the vids coming ! 5 STAR VIDEO

  • Congrats on being featured - it was in Youtube's sidebar :)

  • Hi, your video was featured on TUAW, can you please tell me if QuickLook handles GIFs any better than Leopard 10.5 ..I mean will they animate and not be sized up (if small) and so avoid pixelation, even if static. Thanks.

  • You got featured again! That's twice!

  • On the front page like you were or in the related videos?

  • I was on Youtube and it said Featured Videos, then your video! It was really cool actually! :D

  • like on the home page under the Featured Videos section?!?!

  • Yep! Congrats!

  • Excellent show of the Finder preference to search the specific folder. I hated how it searched the mac as well ( That's what spotlight is for, so I'd get annoyed when it was everywhere. )

  • Great VIdeo Matt!!!!!

  • 5 stars

  • Good job!

  • Comment removed

  • @Pandemonium44 - no, you can clearly ScreenFlow being present in the dock and in the menu bar extras

  • this is excellent. thanks!

  • did you record with quicktime x? :)

  • Nice vid

  • Put back funktion is a funktion that finally returned from the old Mac systems.

It was there in System 7.0 and earlier but that is where my mac era started. In the old MacOS put back was system wide not only for trash. Why that feature was removed i have no idea. First implimentation of it was so u could remove a disket but still have it on the desktop so you could move and copy files, e.g. between 2 disks. But it seartenaly was used for much other things thx to Apples strict interface guidline

  • WOW you can do ALL that??

  • this is awesome! thank you!

  • amazing video!!!!!!!!

  • Gracefully done...

  • This video was featured on one of the biggest Apple Web Blogs, TUAW. The site gets over 81,000 hits a day, thats why it has so many views.

  • yeah. You must be excited...

  • Hey Fisher, another good tip about minimizing windows into the application, if you click and hold on that application, you'll get an expose of all the windows from that application!

(also in expose view, the windows are now lined up, with window titles below them. :) )

  • Excellent video, but the "resize icon" and "put back to trash" features in Finder were definitely showcased in the keynote presentation.

  • props for finding these, but i cant see any of these being of much use, perhaps apple were just filling space?

  • That's because you're an onlooker. These features are certainly appreciated by Apple Mac owners.

  • Impressive video.

  • Great job dude!! Excellent little video.

  • THANKS!

  • followed this link from tuaw - great video matt, apple has become a relevant competitor in the market because of open and enthusiastic kids like you. keep it up!

  • Fixed audio. Coolio!

  • I love how calmly he started talking at 0:24 haha. "Our first feature is the Finder.

  • Thanks, that was very helpful.

  • I want a mac :(

  • @TechnologysFinest Buy one.

  • yay! when I finally get my copy, this knowledge will be great! YAY! Doh.

    -Matt

    MDR PROD

  • nice! very helpful

  • new all of this :/

  • this just makes me wish I had a mac :(

  • ha u sound like one of those guys 'hi, im john and i work at one of our Apple Retail Store' but it sounds like ur in training..not fully there yet.

  • OMG :) He completely does. Very awesome though!

  • DOnt get me wrong i still like your videos i just think they are more interesting when you put enthusiasm into them!

  • Lol good except you took the long way a few times..but i'm not complaining, you have 1K more subs then me.

  • great video! LOL I was thinking same thing as mike ahahahhaaha third times the charm tho ;)

  • Nice nice. Woo woo! (People must hate you for uploading this 3 times!) lawlz!

  • hahaha!

  • Wow. The Burn To Disc, the search in finder, resizing thumbnails, minimizing into the application are all features taken from vista and 7..hmmn apple whos copying now?

  • Comment removed

  • Yeah... if you've actually used Apple Macs for any length of time, you would know that:

Burn to Disc has always been a feature - it's just been made slightly easier to access.

  • The search in Finder has always been there - what's new is that you can change the default search location. Windows has no comparable feature unless you're talking about the laughable Start Menu search that requires you to know the name of the file/program you are looking for and which does not even search the content of files, emails etc..

Resizing thumbnails has always been there - you can just make them bigger now.

  • Ummn what are u talking about. Botth vista and 7 have search bars in the windows explorer.

  • In Vista, create a file in My Documents called "test.txt" and inside it, write the word "Rumplestiltskin". Save and close the file and type "Rumplestiltskin" in the search bar... it won't find your file.

Try the same in OS X and it will. OS X has had this feature for years, certainly long before Vista came on the scene.

  • It does aearch contents. I.e I have a document called Science report and it has the word microscope in one of the paragraphs. When I search microscope, it gives me that document!

  • I stand corrected - I was expecting it to find that file in a search immediately after being created, like you can in OS X. After a few tries it did eventually turn up in a search in Vista. Maybe Vista takes longer to update its search index?

Regardless, Spotlight is a feature that was introduced in Tiger OS X and subsequently copied by Windows Vista.

  • and the whole idea of a graphical operating system was first developed by apple and then subsequently copied by windows. apple wins.

  • yea, mac was first with the damn mouse in the first place!

  • Minimizing an application to it's icon in the Dock can hardly be copying a Windows feature, since Windows does not have a Dock.

  • If you look at Windows 7, all the of the windows of the same application minizmize to that same icon. I.E all messenger windows will get minimized to the messenger icon on the taskbar. Apple copied that

  • Windows copied Mail, iCal, iPhoto, Spotlight search and many other things. So don't try and go down that route lool.

  • Exactly, the whole idea of having programs displayed as "windows" was originally developed by Steve Jobs and subsequently copied by Bill Gates.

  • Cool video dude. Your a genius.

  • hahaha nice fix

  • Nice Vid
