I watched this movie in the theater when I was about 7..I think this song is one of those that you never forget and you find yourself singing in the shower at 28 and suddenly you ask yourself "who the hell are you?", "When did this happen?" and "Why is crutchy dancing around in this video? I was born in 1989, and when this musical came out I was very young but it was one of my favorites. I watched it constantly, and I was so exhilarated to see it on Encore today! The newsboys were almost exclusively (if not entirely) low-income or street kids, they had to pay for the papers out of pocket, and were not allowed to return unsold papers. Since they were considered independent distributors, all their income came from what they sold.

The Newsboys refused to distribute the papers of Joseph Pulitzer and William Randolph Hearst, because of the high cost compared to other publications of the time.

@Gumgirl4466 Probably because none of them do their own singing, or are auto-tuned because they can't sing. If you watch the making of stuff on the DVD for this movie, they spent like two months before filming started teaching these kids to sing, dance, stage fight, and getting them in shape. In other words, they did what you need to do to do this kind of thing right. Part of why HSM and similar stuff blows is they didn't bother and just used computers to fix it.
