US congresswoman Cynthia McKinney has come out and blamed the pro-Israel Lobby in America (AIPAC, ADL, ZOA, etc) for ruining her political career. While in congress she refused to sign the pro-Israel pledge and took a pro-Palestinian stance. Because of this, McKinney said “war was declared” on her by the Jewish lobby. In 2009 she told TIU's Ognir that “more than 99% of Congress work for Pro Zionist Israeli interests.”
@JBades6310 I know. She does that type of spontaneous outburst on interviews. Sometimes, if the volume is really up, it scares the cat...but I like it.
For Liza's information, her father was working at MGM as far back as The Wizard of Oz, where he worked uncredited on set decoration, and you can see some of Minnelli's style in the Emerald City. It is probable he met Judy then, or during the several years in between Oz and St. Louis, if only casually.
@ivetenum1fan Liza was born March 12, 1946 and CABARET was released on February 13, 1972 so she was one month shy of her 26th birthday, which puts her at 25 years old when she made the movie.
she is the best at the palace she was mind blowing!!!!! not bad for two new hips and a knee brain encephalitis throat problems addiction she inherited anybody can stand up to this i don't think so i wonder what we will do someday when she is gone she is the last of the best
Just tell people that aren't used to musicals in particular that MMISL is "about nothing" - that is, nothing more than snippets of daily life. Then they won't expect a real plot, or anything. My husband really enjoyed it (laughed, too), but I think if I hadn't said this he might not have put himself in the right mind to enjoy!
Yes, you are so right! It is about daily life, but Judy Garland is utterly charming in this one! Another favorite movie about "nothing at all" is called "Life with Father"---a charming, charming movie!
This is a fairly old clip, saw Liza Live at Nottingham Royal Centre in May 2008, she has lost a lot of weight, she is now thinner than when she did Cabaret in 1972, she looks stunning and sexier than ever and for a 62 year old, man she is fantastic, the best set of legs I have ever seen. As for the show it was the best I have seen Liza for years. She really was on top form. She is the come back queen. Devine. X
Actually, Liza is incredibly interesting looking as well as hip, sweet, and original! Being Irish/French, I have always envied the dark, Italian look of southern Italians! For the record, Liza is oozing beauty--inside AND out! JM
Meet Me In St. Louis another one of my all time favorites. A sweet story about the day to day life of a family living in St. Louis during the time the World's Fair was scheduled to be hosted there. In my opinion one of the most underrated musical ever. I absolutely adore the movie.
Her father, Vincent Minnelli, a major director of his era, directed her mother, Judy Garland in Meet Me In St. Louis...that's for anyone who didn't "get it", though I'm sure most of you did. :)
liza I love you... please ignore the nob heads... You are great and I want to know what you say.... People today dont appreciate a TRUE DIVA. N Nob heads, dont you ever call Liza or be bad to her......
Eh, Meet Me In St. Louis was one of Judy's favorite films, that and The Clock. They're obviously asking Liza which is her favorite movie her mother was in. I mean, her mother is a super-star. Besides, Meet Me In St.Louis is awesome, boring plot was transformed by Minelli into one of Garland's greatest films, and made almost as much money as Wizard of Oz, at least in that time period. So yeah, that's her favorite movie because she loves her parents... wow, so horrible to love your parents.
"for the majority of us, it is all about ourselves and our loved ones." - And that is what is wrong with the society we live in today. We are systemically conditioned to separate ourselves from eachother, and that creates intneral conflict and does not allow room for change. Once we realize the interconnectedness of it all, with eachother, then we can make social change and live in a more socialistic, utopian type world.
You do not think the comment "it is all about ourselves" is not extremely narrow minded and creates animosity amongst people as all it does is cause a disconnect amongst individuals in society.
And that is the wonderful kind of mindset that allows ignorance to dictate how people treat eachother in society. It's why somebody dies in the middle of a busy street and for days nobody notices.

If you can't accept the idea of people expressing themselves using coarse language, you should be ashamed of your limiting, conformist mentality. I know the word "douchebag" is scary for some people, but I think you'll be alright. It's easy for you to exist when the people you inhabit this world with express themselves in a simplistic format that you can relate to, but I know I don't want to live like that, so maybe don't be a bitch, because freedom ain't free.
mccazbah doesn't get it. liza never pretended to kid anyone, she is being honest. for the majority of us, it is all about ourselves and our loved ones.
Come On!! I love Liza, but how vain can she be? She likes the movie because SHE'S IN IT!! The last shot is of her as the "love child" of her mother and Van Johnson's characters. Great Vincente fil? Yes. Awesome performance by Judy? One of the best. Set Up for the movie "You've Got Mail"? (another great flick) You betcha. But Liza ain't kidding anyone - it's ALWAYS been about her.
Your comments are not only rude and uncalled for but they are also very incorrect. "Meet Me In St Louis" was directed in 1944. Two years before the birth of Liza. The movie you're referring to is "In The Good Old Summertime" which has the Liza cameo at the end. Released in 1949 and directed by Robert Z. Leonard NOT Minnelli. It was remade into "You've Got Mail". The story was first filmed in 1940 as "The Shop Around The Corner" with James Stewart. A film historian you aren't.
