yo, can someone help me decide which version of the game i should get (to be completely honest, i've never played FPS on pc but i've heard that it's better on pc so i wonna try it out) cus i downloaded Alien Swarm on Steam...that didnt work at all, even with my new Dell Optiplex, the menu would load up, the rest of the game would be laggy as hell then crash.

I'm not one for conspiracy theories, but I think Activision wanted this game dead. Bad conversion and then pulling the official site offline. It still has a huge following, but there will be no new patches or extensions which sucks.
this game wasnt half as good as enemy territory, which i would still be playing if the mod community hadnt ruined it with endless downloads specific to each server i cant even get a game! i read somwhere that enemy territory might get the quakelive treatment, if only.....
I myself am decent in FPS games in general and my friends blow me away on console games. But when i played PC COD MW2 against them when they were playing on PS3 it wasnt even close. Kicked the crap out of them, they are the type of people that claim 360 and PS3 are better than PC. Not even close.... :D
@MegaDodongo PCs suck because you have to run updates and make sure the game still works with the latest hardware. with consoles, you just play and there are no compatibility issues.
Alright, console fanboys, since you THINK that the console version is either better or equal to PC version of an FPS, you're downright fucking wrong. FIRST: Technology runs longer and better on the PC because that's what it's built for. PC gets all the cool gadgets like nvidia graphics (WHICH ARE AWESOME) and PhysX which makes grenade throwing a helluva lot less cheap and increases particle effects and of course physics, PC FPS have more maps FOR FREE I don't have to waste $30 later to buy maps!

I play PC and Console alike and I can tell you right now that the differences between the two are negligible at best. FPS CONTROL is better on PC because it uses M&K that is faster and more intuitive for shooters.

Why does multiplatform FPS games don't let Console and PC play against each other? Because PC players using M&K would kick the ass of console players thats why. I have nothing against PC and I will agree that I prefer mouse control over a controller when it does come to FPS games but the differences are not so vast that I think I would totally dominate someone simply because I have a mouse and they have a controller or vice versa. Player skill must also come into question.
Yes player skill is important thats why there are rankings on Multiplayer games, BUT a average M&K user would kick the ass of a veteran controller user if they were playing the same game against each other. Moving a crossair in a screen is just faster with the mouse. Don't you see that, when you move the mousse arrow on the PC OS? That arrow is like a crossair in a FPS game.

This game is very very similiar to BF2. its actually like bf2 except with Strogg and Humans. and you can fire your own artillery without needing someone else who went to college to learn how to man the artillery.

Consoles are better than PC for about 3 month then everyones upgrading their PC. Consoles have Nvidia series 7 cards built in or ATI equal. PCs are now upto Nvidia Series 10 graphics and quad core processors. PCs can run games to the top of a HD screens resolution. In comparison console graphics have less physics and far lower textures and less resolution and far smaller enviroments due to lack of ram and Vram. BluRay disks do not make better graphics.

In the majority of console games you can't because the gameplay is made around it and needs it to feel good, the majority of FPS console gamers think they aim well because they don't know or forgot that the game is helping by giving them bigger hit boxes and a greater area of damage.

ps3 and 360 are better cause graphics are so much better than a pc because they can put better higher resoloution data into the nex gen consoles disk and u dont have to install it and wait to play
Actually pc games can run up to a resoloution of 2560x1600 whilst 1080p is only 1920x1080. IN addition pc's have more power available to them because the hardware is not fixed for 4 years like a consoles and can be upgraded to allow pc gamers to run new games at higher detail levels. Another benifit is Antialiasing, consoles can have up to 2xAA (I think), whilst pc gamers can have 16xAA. Not to mention better anisotropic filtering, higher quality textures and hundreds of other benifits.
What a elitist attitude towards PC gaming . No wonder its quickly dying out . No one wants to spend millions of pounds on a PC . Like it or not consoles are the way forwards .

FPS CONTROL is better on PC because it uses M&K that is faster and more intuitive for shooters.
Saying they are similar in control or (negligible at best) is lying to people and to yourself, ask yourself this question... Why does multiplatform FPS games don't let Console and PC play against each other? Because PC players using M&K would kick the ass of console players thats why. Console shooters will always be the poor cousin of PC shooters in terms of control system.

I have nothing against PC and I will agree that I prefer mouse control over a controller when it does come to FPS games but the differences are not so vast that I think I would totally dominate someone simply because I have a mouse and they have a controller or vice versa. Player skill must also come into question.

Yes player skill is important thats why there are rankings on Multiplayer games, BUT a average M&K user would kick the ass of a veteran controller user if they were playing the same game against each other. Moving a crossair in a screen is just faster with the mouse. Don't you see that, when you move the mousse arrow on the PC OS? That arrow is like a crossair in a FPS game.

yea the reviewer is right fps on consoles are crap, consoles are better at arcade type games but even then if it is ported to the pc (and they did a good job) then most console ports like the gta games will have graphical improvements over the original versions.
Also pc gaming can be quite cheap since pc prices are low and depending if its windows 7 compatable will last along time and wont blow up like a 360

learn to play. this is not game like battlefield and halo or some other shit where you alone can pwn army of players. do your objective class and you'll win. number of kills in quake wars is not important so much. five is stronger then one. bad thing is just there is alot of noobs on quak wars like guys that play as constructor and you need to tell him 50 times that you need him to repair your psi radar. just learn to play and you see that both teams are the same. aim for head.

Consoles are better than PC for about 3 month then everyones upgrading their PC. Consoles have Nvidia series 7 cards built in or ATI equal. PCs are now upto Nvidia Series 10 graphics and quad core processors. PCs can run games to the top of a HD screens resolution. In comparison console graphics have less physics and far lower textures and less resolution and far smaller enviroments due to lack of ram and Vram. BluRay disks do not make better graphics.

In the majority of console games you can't because the gameplay is made around it and needs it to feel good, the majority of FPS console gamers think they aim well because they don't know or forgot that the game is helping by giving them bigger hit boxes and a greater area of damage.

Actually pc games can run up to a resoloution of 2560x1600 whilst 1080p is only 1920x1080. IN addition pc's have more power available to them because the hardware is not fixed for 4 years like a consoles and can be upgraded to allow pc gamers to run new games at higher detail levels. Another benifit is Antialiasing, consoles can have up to 2xAA (I think), whilst pc gamers can have 16xAA. Not to mention better anisotropic filtering, higher quality textures and hundreds of other benifits.
