  • Wow, he threw in the entire kitchen.

  • No one in Singapore drinks these.

  • @afterapplepicking No one cares.

  • Bravo, sir! Truly an artist of the trade! Cheers!

  • the first time ive seen him make a mistake and not correct himself (and ive watched all his NOLA videos): pours bombay dry and says "saphire."

either way i LOVE this guy. @all the people who are impatient through his talking: hes one of the most knowledgeable bartenders ive seen and personally i learn a lot from the history lessons. if you dont like the context he gives you might as well learn from someone else. to me, its always relevant and always interesting.

  • For Cherry Heering, BevMo carries it, but I found it cheaper here in Japan at a place called Liquor Mountain in Kyoto. It ended up costing me about $18 as opposed to $24. w00t!

  • My favorite drink! I love these videos, although this particular recipe is not my favorite, but if I wanted something milder than what I'm used to, it's still good (I'm having it right now)! My fav recipe is: 2 oz gin 3/4 oz Cherry Heering 1/2 oz Benedectine 1/4 oz Cointreau 1/2 a lime's juice 1/2 oz Grenadine A splash of maraschino cherry syrup (not necessary, tho) 4 oz. Pineapple juice Dash or 2 of Angostura bitters Shake, strain into a chilled Hurricane glass (skip the rocks). Delicious!
  • 1:42 the recipe begins

  • @fattirevsbud thanks brah.

  • Bah wanted to Buy the cerry hering in lcbo (only liqour store in ontario) they told me that they discontinued the produckt that sucks!

  • @habacuk1985 Must be that store that stopped importing it. It is still easily available here in Denmark.

  • Sucker is complicated. I've seen the entire series and this is has the most ingredients.

  • I like topping off with 7-Up vs Club soda...

  • These videos are the best. I've become quite popular after using them to hone my cocktail skills. Especially with the ladies.

  • The Raffles Hotel defaults to Gordon's Gin and uses Bols Grenadine. All the other ingredients are the same. Problem: they serve it pre-mixed, plus the drink I tried was very heavy on the grenadine. Made for a pretty pinkish-red color, but it had an overwhelming grenadine taste.

  • What a great drink, great video. Thanks for the recipe.

  • Forget the fact this guy makes great cocktails, he has one of the best things a bartender could ever have... Master of the art of conversation! Subscribed! hope to learn a lot!

  • proud to be singaporean!

  • can we make it without cherry brandy

  • @capt700 nope

  • @capt700 Well you can make it with cherry brandy, but it won't be the same as the Cherry Heering! Like Chris said they is no substitute for the Heering, it is great stuff!

  • Pretty good ! Thanks

  • I had one where they used blackberry brandy, no mezcal on the side. HaHa... Excellent drink...

  • I had one of these for my first time with my dad in singapore in raffles hotel...Im 15 singapore was awesome

  • Legendary cocktail, legendary bar, legendary bartender, awesome city! Well done, cheers!

  • Cheers to the singapore sling!

  • Chris, do you have a book? I would buy it in a heart beat! You are awesome!

  • signed!

  • Hi! I just got to that I'm a big fan of the podcast, and of classic cocktails and drinks. There's so many drinks I'd like to try, but they don't even sell bitters in Norway. There's no culture what so ever for cocktails and mixology, and a 50 cl bottle of liquor costs about 40-50$ here.

  • i know exactly what you mean, if you know what i mean. i have / go to a lot of cocktail parties in bærum, so if you ever want to drop by, we'll make some cocktails.

At least what i do here, is mostly making the whiskey sour, the tom collins and sometimes french 75 when i feel a bit keeg.

  • This is a GREAT recipe!!! Thanks so much! I was wondering if you could make a video on another tropical drink, the MAI TAI!!!

  • As mentioned a sling is a colins with a liqueor added.

In most books the singapoore sling is just gin, cherry heering, simple sirup, lemon juice and soda.

The drink variasion made here is refered in all my books as the raffles singapoore sling.

I always ask my customers wich cersion they want as they are quite different.

  • True shit dude...i never thought soda water was in this drink!

  • If you can't get fresh pineapple juice, what's the best store brand to use? I tried Dole in a can and it made the drink too sweet for most people I know.

  • noooo wtf he'd done!! shaking?? it's floating drink lol

  • ah no, try again....

  • this is a floated drink when you look it up in cheap or really old books....

the normal GOOD recipie is this one, some times replacing pineapple for orange juice but is is pretty mcuh like this one...

  • jajaja ah no; try again....

  • this is my favorite cocktail! they are oh so good

  • Excellent video. And my compliments on the bourbon selection on the top shelf.

  • Wow I sooo want to drink that. I love SS so much.

  • One last note: Gin is the quintessential tropical drink ingredient. The gin and tonic originated in the tropics to find a way to make the quinine palatable. Quinine for malaria. I live in Malaysia. I know.

  • I've been making SS's since the early 80's. I've been to the Long Bar at Raffle's and had the SS there. It aint so great.

Modify this a bit. Use any cherry brandy. Bar Sour works great rather than orange and pineapple, but they are not too bad either. Pinch more grenadine. The key to this drink is shaking with small ice cubes. Makes for a very frothy drink. Serve with the same cubes you shook with.

  • great! I love these videos. Ive made all the drinks at home in my garage bar!
