@TheMyLasT1 One time on June 3rd in Chicago I witnessed a snowfall for about an hour. I actually have friends who say they saw snow flurries on the 4th of July in Minnesota. Pretty crazy.
I remember last year it snowed on may long up at the lakes. we woke up with snow everywhere and my buddy forgot his windbreaker for his tent so they were covered in it hahaha.
I live in southern Indiana and every winter we have at least one day where it snows in the morning or over night, and then it can get up in the 70's (Fahrenheit) by the afternoon.
Canis Minor...typical. ;) Speaking of May snows, I was in Virginia a few years ago...mid-May at a folk music festival. A thunderstorm the previous night, we awoke to a lovely snowfall, in May, in Virginia.
To be honest, my ears did perk up at Phil's questionable word choice, "followers"--it is second nature, after all, for most rationalists types to look out for red flag words like that. However, it only takes a nanosecond of thought to work out the context here.
Two thoughts came to my mind watching this, first of course the "followers" thing, and well I don't know if Phil thinks he´s the Chuck Norris of astronomy but I did went What! and of course at the end of this video it felt kinda gay lol.
I grew up in Moscow. During the winters the snow fell for weeks non stop and the temperature remained around -25C. And so I sat with my forehead pressed against the frozen window glass and stared at the snow for hours.
I imagine you'd think that it would be extremely cold at such low temperatures, but it actually felt warm.
There certainly is something very bizaree going on with the Earths climate right now. The day before yesterday it was hail stoning, the day after it was sunny and quite warm, in fact I had a T shirt on and was driving with the window part way down.
I was talking to Chuck the other night about my fear of losing my hold on rational/skeptical thought in the inevitable eventual circumstance of something truly terrible happening in my life. I am a very fortunate person... I've enjoyed relatively good health... wait... I think I'll do a vid about this instead of clogging Phil's comment thread with my bs.
I hope to hell you were consciously joking Phil, and that didn't slip out in some Freudian manner to reveal your inner beliefs.
If it did, consider this a wake up call.
We ain't your "followers" pal. And you'll find that out from real skeptics, whenever you make invalid arguments. We'll be the ones tearing you apart like a pack of rabid wolves.
We love you Phil. Don't lose the plot on us just 'cause you've got a few fan letters from dogmatic Mcskeptics.

I love snow. It amuses me that I still stop to watch it just like I did when I was a child.

FWIW, the snow was gone by afternoon, as expected. That's happened quite a few times this winter. It's weird.

Settle down there system0slaven.
It is obvious Phil used the noun "followers" in the same sense as, "He follows the S.F. Giants," or "She follows the Dixie Chicks."
He certainly was not using it in the religious sense--unless it was for irony sake. Phil is not trying to be a prophet.

Oh... its ok hun... We are all family... The followers of Phil :D
But yes do make a video because I think we all sometimes wonder if we can hold on to our reason when faced with the unreasonable truths of existence.
The "irrational lies" of the mind... it happens hun, it happens to the best of us. Have a piece of cake. {{{hug}}}

Chocolate with Chocolate Frosting, please. Those caps make it look like the name of my band - and I was trying to keep that a secret.
Thanks, Sara!
Yummy!
(Since I have virtually designated the cake's flavor, I hope Phil's mom likes chocolate.)
