LOVE this video! We have also written our own schedule. I did a ton of research on vaccinations and when they're supposed to be given. I don't think most people know that there is about a 3-6 month range for each vaccination to be given. My daughter recieves 2 MAX at each visit...most times she only gets one at each visit. My doctor was very welcoming to it, I typed it up, and she saved it in my daughter's file. Great video, Lucy! =]
Lucy, awesome job giving information on a very controversial subject!! It's great that you are giving a non-bias opinion so that all parents can make an informed decision that works for them! Way to go, AGAIN! You're a great resource for parents!
@kjhayward Thanks hun! I think biased opinions on this subject could potentially be VERY dangerous for a child :( as I said we all live in different areas, have different medical backgrounds & have different lifestyles which should all be taken into consideration.
@littlebabytobe We haven't covered the strangers thing yet...not in depth, just touched basis, but for the most repetitiveness....constant reminder, explaining why, and again repeating ourselves over & over & over again, lol. Just as it is w/ anything else, like manners. lol Not sure there is enough to do a video over. She knows to never (hes learning) to NEVER cross the red line (in parking lots, etc) Red means STOP!
thank you so much for recommending this book!! This is something I have been trying to figure out for a long time...unfortunately my pediatrician is not very open minded and does not like for the parents to make any of the decisions. she basically thinks we should take her word as god. when I asked her what the shots were that they were going to be giving my daughter she got really snotty and rude about it like i was being a pain in the butt. >:( need to find a new doc!
@crazymommylife RED FLAG ALERT!!!! Yah definitely find a new Dr! I can understand a Dr wanting you to vaccinate a child BUT they should be mature enough to sit down, take the time w/ out being rushed, & have a indepth conversation about this w/ the parents if their parents are inquiring about the vaccinations.
@caylieissweird Odd questions that have nothing to do w/ immunizations... but no he's not. We'd never circumcise a child...girl nor boy. You can look back at Pregnancy Week 16 vlog for Kacen to find out the significance of his middle name.
@xxxjoelpolexxx its great that you did not circumcise. americans are so quick to do it as they tend to feel its the "norm". in reality its rather barbaric. you are giving your son's future wife a huge gift as well! most girls dont even know what they are missing ;) a bit of education for a young child is all it takes to make sure everything is hygenic - same as you would teach a girl to clean herself! its the natural way our bodies were meant to be. so glad that you made this choice!
@fridaynightfashions AAP advises against routine circumcision here however.... most people are still misinformed due to the heavy amounts of myths about uncircumcised boys. I know a few parents don't want to take into consideration their little boy's future sex life, but it's a very important factor when your chopping off part of his penis as there are so many nerves there... it's his penis, his foreskin & in our opinions HIS choice to make not ours.
I use a Ped that used to be a midwife and had all her kids at home....we follow HER delayed schedule...we only get 2 max at a time but have to go monthly. I am so happy that we have chosen to do it this way.
@AdventuresofaMrs It took a while...but our Dr know's our reasoning behind it, why we do it, & also knows that the media plays no role in our decision, were also educated on our choices & are confident in our choices. Because of the overall situation she is comfortable. Of course we don't ALWAYS see eye to eye but about 95% of the time we do, the other 5% we compromise, ha. Shes a great pedi period. She loves the natural stuff, nursing, hoem birthing, no circumcision, cloth etc.
some vacinations can be scary when u look at the side affects, i curently dnt have any children but when i do i will def pay attention to the ingredients cuz like u said some r alot safer than others. oh and i cnt believe ur from texas. u dnt have a strong southern accent at all, you have more of a northern accent!!! u sound like me and im from michigan Lol thats crazy!!!! and btw ur gorgeous and the fact that ur all baby and haven't gained anything in ur face or elsewhere is amazing!!
Thank you soooo much! i had asked how you came to your conclusions, I reread my question and hope you didn't find it offensive. i said "I am not interested in your opinion" lol. i didn't mean it quite as harsh as it sounded...i meant I know you don't like to share certain opinions on touchy subjects sooo I wanted you to answer as you felt comfortable! :D Anywho....thanks sooo much going to purchase this book today!!
@SuperHairjunkie Regardless of ones vaccination schedule preference it's a great book to have just for knowledge. Even if you follow the suggested schedule its great to know what you are doing & what you're putting into your child. Plus like I said there are several options depending on the vaccine so perhaps you'll feel one manufacture is a better fit for ur child :)
@TTCbaby4 Regardless of ones vaccination decision there poses a risk... there is a risk w/ vaccinations just as w/ no vaccinations its just a matter of ones personal preference with what they feel is a better fit for their family/lower risk. Some kids CAN'T get vaccinated due to family history, illness, allergic reactions, etc. They don't get a choice.
My son is 2 and has never had any vaccine... his first doctor visit was after two and he has never had a ear infection! I would highly recommend this book to any new parents!!!
Great video! I just found the book for $1 at a used bookstore, score! Abbey is 21 months though and we have been on a delayed and selective schedule so far.
I'm sure you know I have this book, and don't you know I just LOVE it! I bought it the first time you recommended it, and probably read the entire thing within a week. I still use it as a reference. We delayed vaccinations from the very beginning (before I even read the book) for numerous reasons. So glad I bought it! :)
Awesome video! We vaccinated both our children according to the recommended schedule. I wish I would have done more research before going ahead with them. I'm lucky they didn't have any bad reactions. I now know for any future kids that I need to do my research!
@ashley2167 Nothing wrong w/ vaccinating by recommended schedule, but having the book for the pure knowledge of what it offers is a nice advantage :) It's always nice to know what you're doing regardless of the path you take.
@jennasmommy0718 Lol ur like the 10th person so I just changed the title. Hope that helps. We have a set of rules, not a set schedule that we follow. As our own circumstances/lifestyles changes so does our options of what/when we vaccinate.
@xxxjoelpolexxx haha, she probably thought this video was "our vacation schedule"! lol cause that is what I thought at first when I first glanced at the video! lol
