  • Wow, that was slower than molasses. Chrysler needs to figure out how to make a proper 4.0L V6. My FJ, which has the toyota 4.0L, and is sitting on 33" KM2's will do 0-60 in close to 7 seconds. I'm putting out close to 290 ft/lbs now with my intake and exhaust (exhaust doesn't do much though, primarily intake). I do love JK's, but they need to fix that V6 or offer them with a 5.7 hemi.

  • @tornadomid The 4.0 in the Jeep is an inline 6, not a V6

  • @Nebraskahusker23 I know, i mean to say 3.8L, and I was thinking about the 4.0L in my FJ. I know that the inline 6 is a 4.0l, but even that still is much weaker than what is should be

  • I knew it. I knew it was a bad idea to throw in a V6 instead of an I6.. I6s have ALWAYS been better. When you've got a Jeep, you're look for torque over horsepower, which can only be supplied by an I6 .

  • @Sarcasticscum Or the new 3.6 liter V6, which has more low end torque and horsepower. the 4.0 is a boat anchor. Why anyone would want one is beyond me.

  • @SuperJeepz

    Hahahahahaha

Please, just stop talking. You've obviously surpassed yourself, so far as IGNORANCE goes. While the 3.6 may produce more horsepower, you're using gallons of gas to reach it's top performance. (peak horsepower/torque reached a 6,000-6,300 RPM).. Also, the Grand Cherokee is the ONLY Jeep at this point-in-time with the 3.6 V6.. I'd say it needs a powerful engine, the 2011 GCs weighs over 5,600 lbs. I just raced a 2011 the other day in my Cherokee Limited. Guess who won?

  • @SuperJeepz 95% of peak torque at idle - awesome for crawling. Also, they run for well over 250k if maintained. IMHO, they sound pretty cool too.

  • @SuperJeep

Dude.... Get a clue. I personally OWN two jeeps with a 3.8 and the 4l. The 4l has much more low end torque, and a much smoother power band. Making the engine smaller does not somehow give it more low end torque. I don't care what anyone says, bigger engines will have more low end torque. The 3.8 may have more torque, and the 3.6 may have even more, but they get it from a tuned intake - which acts almost like a turbo at it's designed rpm. The 4l has more low end torque. PERIOD

  • @christopher12344321

Haha, oh wow. I could go on for a while and point out everything wrong in your post, but instead I'm just going to say the 3.6 is a world of a better engine than the 4.0. More power all the way around and better fuel econ too. Deal with it.

  • My JK Unlimited CRD on 35"s with stock 4:10 gears does 0-60 in 12 seconds. Im more than happy with that. I also get 25mpg average so thats OK with me.

  • @JKmanglerCRD 25 MPG my ass, Only if you live on a mountain and coast down the whole way

  • @penguin2500 Why would I lie? I just been on 1460 mile round trip from England to Scotland over the highlands in the snow and back and my average mpg has settled at 26.4. Around town it will do about 19 mpg and on the highway it can reach sometimes reach 30 mpg. I only drive at 55 mph on the highway.

  • @JKmanglerCRD Lets see some proof

  • @christopher12344321 OK. Ill make some video's and post them up. not good at editing so ill make some vids showing the truck and some driving videos.

  • @christopher12344321 OK the video of the average mpg is up. Check it out.

  • @JKmanglerCRD

How do you get that much fuel economy out of it? Mine is stock height AND stick shift and I still get 22 or so mpg.

  • @christopher12344321 Is yours diesel or the 3.8 V6? I see your in the states so I assume you have the V6. I do baby it a bit. If I caned it around town it would drop to anout 17 to 18 mpg. Diesel fuel cost £1.40 a litre here at the moment so that works out about $2.34 a litre. at least your fuel is cheaper.

  • @JKmanglerCRD

Mine is the gas version. I sure wish they sold the diesel in the states though.

  • Bring the 4.0 back so when I'm older and I upgrade from my current Jeep, I'll actually have something to look forward to. God, that is sad excelleration. I have a 2000 Cherokee 4.0 and my 0-60 is atleast 3 seconds faster than that, and it's STOCK.

  • my jeep grand cherokee with only 195 hp does 0-60 in 7.5 seconds. This is slow as hell

  • wow thats slow.

  • I have a 2010 jk two door and mine does faster then that... i do 9 seconds all day... mine is standard though...

  • @arodgerson Would you mind posting a video? I have a hard time finding any 0-60 videos in a standard shift...

Not that I don't believe you, so don't take it like that. It's just that you have a stick-shift jk. =)

  • @christopher12344321 yeah ill try and borrow a buddies camera! i dont own one myself, and the only way you get 9 is if you red line the shit out of second gear cause second will hit 100 at max max max rpm

  • @arodgerson Haha, thanks!

  • i think my stock jk sahara goes just as fast

  • i understand it's a jeep for off roading and not a supercar but i would have gotten the 5.7 grand cherokee....no offense.

  • @sergsrt8

In the past, I would have taken the wrangler... but UGH Chrysler is screwing over the wrangler line..... It's like the cherokee and wrangler are switching places...

  • The 3.8L is a nice engine, but the Wrangler isn't a performance vehicle so a 11-12sec 0-60 time isn't too bad for a purpose built 4x4. A diesel would be my choice. Europeans get the nice 2.8L I4 that we had up until 2006 in the Liberty. It was automatic only :( once Euro emissions get stricter, cound on seeing more diesels in North American products!

  • I do enjoy this sound though. Somehow, while lacking in the efficiency/electronics reliability department, chrysler engines almost always sound better than the competition. Especially the Challenger SE V6

  • jeep jk has power. no questions asked... the autos are alot slower than the standards though. alot slower...

  • i was really looking forward to a small v8 in the JKs. Maybe with the 2010 models. my old 4.0 felt faster than the new JK

  • I think the huge difference is that its a lot quieter and smoother than the tj's

I can say that my jk has faster acceleration and does better on the highway then my 01 xj

  • well i used to have a 96 cherokee up country package and it was kindda loud inside, but i also test drove a brand new jk that wasnt broke in. I really like the JKs and ive wanted a wrangler forever but the new jk is quite heavy, i just dont want to end up regreting it. Ive got an srt8 atm and ive had a patriot and 3 other early model GCs but the motor is really an issue for me. Why cant it just have a 4.7 lol

  • i agree 4.7 would be sweet

If they come out with one they'll be a good market for used 3.8 jk's

  • Also I don't believe a jk unlimited is any more heavier than an xj The ship weight on the window sticker or the whatever that manufacture title is called said 4000 and some change the xj is right there too. Also you don't buy a jk for speed its a fun jeep to drive top off and listening to your favorite song.

  • A CRD would be even better.

  • they seriously need to put bigger, more powerful engines in these wranglers. you can get into an accident.

  • what?

  • im saying that they are so slow they can barely get out of their own way....they need to put bigger, more powerful engines.

  • my jk is pretty fast 6spd m\t is faster more hp to the wheels autos dont have alot of whp

and also its a jeep made for off road

  • yeaa still it need enough power to get up hills.

  • it does lol with the right tires it will get around 160-170 whp and 195 to 203 wtq

i never had one problem getting fast to 60 on the highway i can pass cars witch are 10x faster

  • oh.....but it has to be floored probally....and you cant be in a rush.

  • are you on drugs? What are you comparing it too a Honda civic? lolz it goes 0-60 in 9 seconds that's pretty much the norm for any suv.

  • no more like 11 seconds to 60

  • no more like 9. something according to car and drive and motor trend.

I keep forgetting the H3 does 0-6 in 3 seconds.

I also forgot the JK is considered a high end sports car not actually a trail rated vehicle

  • what r u talking about?

  • your awesomeness that's what I'm talking about

  • ok????.............lol

  • yeah you are awesome I mean only unawesome people know how to reads

  • ur retarded

  • something like that

  • yes u r!
