  • Bobby Rehal at Mid Ohio Sport car Park.

  • '

this guy is a fail driver,,,

1 - NO helmet on his head while test road,,,

2 - how come this car do not have 2 amber yellow lights on the rear taillights

  • if i drove like that i wouldn't be in a K car because that would be impossible

  • Is that Stroker Ace driving?

  • Anyone who calls the K-Car a POS either never owned one or expects what you get in a $30K vehicle from a $12K vehicle. For the price, this car was unbeatable. Lots of room, trunk space, great handling, and I could go on. Any repairs I ever had to do on mine were easy and cheap. To me, that is what makes a good car. Let's face it, any car will break down eventually. When it does, I want to be able to fix it cheap and fast. I only had to fix mine a couple of times and once I even got the part free

  • @rkristof1 you got the part for free because they felt sorry for you having to drive a K.

  • @KrankieV2 That may be, but I'm still ahead for not having to pay for the part.

  • The little Bastards could handle quite well, surprisingly. I had an '83 Dodge 600 and an '86 600 and can attest to the handling capabilities. The '83 had a 2.6 liter 2 barrel and sounded like a V8 when you got into it. Something NO fuel injectioned car can match(sound) and from a 4CYLINDER! Anyone who has ever owned these things knows what I'm talking about. The '86 had a 2.5 (fuelie) and while it didn't have the V8 sound, could go like HELL. Beat a buddy and his '81 Chevy 350 pick up one night!

  • No this car has nothing special. It just is one of the best cars ever made.

  • That's a young Bobby Rahal!

  • this car was the biggest POS ever made. You NEVER see them on the road.THEY are POS

  • @MFP1520 You don't see many 25-year-old cars on the road, period, and most of the ones you do are rear-wheel drive cars with candy paint jobs and giant rims.

  • @MFP1520 Biggest POS? Not even close. The K Cars were quite compact actually. Smaller than a Ford LTD, or some Toyota I forget the name of from that era. But, yes, I do see those around still. Many of them are not well maintained, and therefore don't run like the way they're supposed to. But, I've see quite a few that run good.

  • Holy $hit, flogging a k-car! This made my day:-)

  • The car is being powered by the awesomeness of his mustache.

  • whats the oil capacity of the 2.2L?

  • Was that Burt Reynolds' twin balding brother?

  • When you drive a K-Car it's all about the mustache!!!

  • mustache club for men help me to become a better driver and you can be a better driver too

  • OMG HE DRIFTED IT!!!

  • Iacocca must be proud of you and your K-car. Our family had two of 'em and two E cars, Greetings.

  • slight bit of body roll...lol

  • lol... I had one of these cars in the early 90's it used to be the best on gas !!! even then when gas was cheap 10 bucks would drive all over hell with it. My first car i bought it for $400.00 i beat the shit out of it for a year and sold it for $ 200.00 to a 16 yr old kid .

  • is that an 84? i have one thats grey with red interior, still running and looks great. love the k cars.

  • ynada abajo traia el V8 de un mustang jajajajaja

  • I wish new cars under $30,000 had red interiors.

  • he kinda looks like borat lol

  • This was a commercial with Bobby Rahal? Why in the world would he be using a Reliant for this kind of driving? Was he a closet K car fan? I would like to see him drive one today that had been modified on that course. Match it...Citation!!

  • RED INTERIOR. I WANT IT NOW.

  • now i know a lot of these cars were front wheel drive were some of them rear?????????

  • @crickettsdodge31 Nope, this one is a FWD as well!

  • Same person that made the K car made the mustang, therefore mustangs are total shit. lol.

  • @pwntacious : funny you say so ! I actually had a kcar and a mustang ! But Lee Iacacco's Mustang are not total shit , like you say so...! They are the longest running production cars to be made, every year since 1964 1/2. I still have the Pony but the Kcar is long gone...!

  • My car!!!!!!!!!!! i have the wagon though lolllzzz

  • Make fun of it all you want. It was a great car for it's time. Also a good bargain.

  • THIS NIGGA DOESNT GIVE A SHIT!

  • Dude's pussy tickler and red pleather coat make him cooler than David Hasselhoff any day of the week.

  • nice

  • lmo, ludacris's first car

  • That's what Chuck Norris would drive.

  • Were those FWD? Looks like fun under the Leno rule.

  • yes front wheel drive with drivers aibag, not bad for 6k in 81!!!

  • Holy crap, Airbags in '81. That looks like one of those things you wouldn't be able to do without laughing and chuckling the whole time.

  • Cause it wasw motor trend car of the year for 1981

  • Drive it like you stole it. hahaha

  • Dude, that was 20 years ago. Drop the bitterness.

  • The secret is in the mustache

  • What the fuck ??? But I like the driver with a magnificent mustache.....!!!!!! and the relient K is the shit..

  • what can i say. SLANT 6!!!! Muhahaha.

  • idiot they came with 2.0 en 2.2 fuel injected en turbos en 2.5 duuuuhhhhh

  • Only way to drive a k-car. Also that guy looks like the kokanee warden.

  • k- cars and mustaches kick ass. My dad has both and he carries the mail in one of those.

  • LOL!!!!!

  • @Dixie252 Greatest comment EVER, lol!

  • When I had drivers ed back in 91-92 thats what we drove! Hey Happyrex I take it you are from Hamilton ?

  • Does this car have an interference engine? Got one that jumped timing and wondering if the timing belt is all i have to worry about. Video had me rolling on the floor!

  • No this car does not have an interference engine.

Reference GATES Poster No. 428-0408, REPLACE YOUR TIMING BELT: "Dodge Aries 1981-89 2.2L 4cyl. is NOT an interference engine and the 1986-89 2.5L 4cyl, is NOT an interference engine"

  • Thanks for the quick reply happyrex. Guess the 'K' will be back in action this weekend. The wife drives the good car and I putt around in this $500 dollar car but good on gas.

  • Year I found out that it wasnt an interfernce when my belt broke on my 84 aries.

  • @atom2009 dont count on it

  • Good driving.

  • My 82 Dodge 400 Conv is customized with a continental kit and fender skirts. It is a gorgeous ealy 80's convertible and drives better than any new car I've driven. The seats are also more comfy than anything I've been in lately.

  • make my words .. one day ill buy a fully loaded new yorker or imperial and drive it slow on sundays..lol

  • Its like an old ugly wrinkled dog, but you still love it. I'm surpreised the tires didn't pop off the rim.

  • i got a 86 lebaron gts with the 2.5 liter kicked a lot of newer cars

  • The '91-'93 Daytona and Spirit R/T put down 224 horses out of a 2.2.

That's more than anyone else was producing at the time.

  • I currently own a 27 year old 82 Dodge 400 COnv. It runs like new, gets 30 mpg, AC works, cost $20 to fill up. It is an AMAZING car then and now. Most 80's cars were junk esp the Mustang but these cars for the era were well built and very roadworthy. I drive mine every day!

  • omg i love 82 dodge 400 theres none around anymore man i would love to see yours there awesome take good care of her man there awesome and rare cars

  • I love the body-roll :-)

  • i had an 85 omni glhs and a 87 shelby charger both with 2.2 turbo and 5 speed trans, those little shitboxes were pretty quick and were fun to drive with all that tourque steer.i ran a heads up against an early 80s vette and nearly won.not too bad for a 135 ci engine.maybe a peice of shit but at least they are fast peices of shit

  • What is the TH700? I've never heard of it. Afraid my knowledge of automotive history begins and ends with Mopar.

  • Chrysler builds the best engines and transmissions in the business. The 2.2 was designed by the same fellow that designed the Slant-6, my nomination for greatest engine-longevity-ever.

  • The 2.2 and 2.5 were great motors for their time, but the 2.5 was known for blowing the head gasket. I got over 180k miles out of the engine and transmission before the car was totaled. I think Volvo's 2.3L was even a better engine though. More HP from smaller displacement in non- and turbo form and even greater durability. The 2.2 and 2.5 are nearing their last leg by 200k, whereas Volvo's 2.3 is only halfway there. My Mom put 224k on her 2.3 turbo and now has almost 180k on her 2.3 n/a.

  • what about the TH700s from GM?

Besides, this is a such a damn ugly kar, i would love to have one....

  • reminds me of my 84 reliant k. It was brown and beige. Could not kill the old 2.2. I hated the choke. The carb was always fucked up...

  • nice oversteer...

  • I had a turbo '84 convertible Dodge 600. Fun car but sometimes it would run hard, sometimes it would run like shit. I think maybe an electronics problem. Anyways I miss it :(

  • My 87 went 253,000 miles before it blew a head gasket. This car was so damn reliable I couldn't believe it. My "it has to be Japanese" friends would have not believed it if they had not seen it for themselves. Pretty crappy assembly, but totally reliable!!

  • I had an 88 red with a white front clip. It was a deer magnet, i think they were attracted to the sound of the 4 banger. Had 208000 on it when i drove it to the salvageyard with a blown main seal.

  • I had 4 K-cars - an 83 Aries, an 87 Reliant, and a pair of 89 Reliant's.

They were all over 200,000 miles when I ultimately got rid of them.

I paid 300 dollars for the MOST expensive one.

    I want another one...... !!!!

    .

    .

    .

  • That has to be an 84 model.

  • I had 3 Kcars. The last one was my favorite, an '88 Reliant. I had to get rid of it after the mechanic gave it "the kiss of death". (Ohio salt rust!!) Sold it for a whopping $150. It's replacement, a '91 Acclaim, was probably the best one I've owned, besides a '95 Voyager. Simple to fix, cheap to maintain, and, well, reliable!!

  • lol

  • we used to have a two door 1980 all black. We sold it for $200 about 7 years ago :(. We heard it ran for another three years before it had to be junked.

  • I ended up selling my blue 4 door K-car to the Red Green Show for $ 300. I have not yet found the episode that it is in. They just pulled up to my driveway and offered the money on the spot.

If anyone has seen a Blue K-car on the Red Green Show show please let me know.

  • HOly Crap you are kidding!! I LOVE THAT SHOW!! I MUST LOOK OUT FOR IT!!

  • I think I seen it and they pulled the motor out of it

  • @happyrex oh my god that was your car! enter : red green show all wheel drive

  • @happyrex isnt it the one he cuts in half and makes a 4wd out of two fwd cars

  • @happyrex Could this be it? Put this in search 'Red Green tells how to build an articulating four wheel drive'. Youtube isn't letting me post urls for some reason.

  • @TripleZ89 AWD K-Car ? you tube that is that it

  • I have one of these! i love it, its 20 years old now and the only problem has been that my cousin owned it first and was hard on it so i had to replace some tires and bearings. The cheap stuff you know. anyways i love it and after 20 years it runs fine ( not a race car of course) and its great on gas!

  • I drove like that all the time and never got arrested. Cept when i drove it i could make it do a 180. Car I first learned to drive,stunt,180,360,drift,and get my grove on in!!!!! Mine was grey so we called it the Greyhound!!! Good times!!!

  • WOW I'm impressed....this video surpassed you Anna Nicle Smith Video....WOW!!!

  • I had a '93 Sundance and reliability was the one thing it couldn't accomplish. What a dog. Handled well on the few days that it was running.

  • I've owned a Daytona, which is based on the K design, many of the parts, like the engine, transmission, components are interchangeable. I now have a 1994 Sundance, again, a lot in common with the K, simple and reliable design.

  • Very nice car! I wish it was for sale...

  • On another note, if you have some mechanical ability, K cars are easy to fix and like I said, simple and a lot less things likely to go wrong.

  • Ah that's so true! Except for the Lebaron covertible, which I drive now. It's been a surprisingly problematic car and anything that's specifically a design of the Lebaron coupe/convertible is a pain the arse to fix. Something as simple as turn signal bulbs are a total pain to replace. Don't get me started on anything convertible top related. I love K-based Chryslers anyway. On my third now!

  • K cars are simple but effective. I've found women to be content with their guy having a car at all, let alone a cool one. Nice and fast cars help in that department, but having a car at all improves the odds and if a K car is all you've got, make the most of it.

  • "Simple but effective" is right! That platform was the basis of all North American designed Chryslers for about ten years! It spawned the 400, 600, Caravelle, Sundance, FWD LeBaron, Daytona, Maserati TC, Imperial, Dynasty, and the minivan. Leedo and the boys saved Chrysler, paid back the money EARLY, and made some profit. All with the K-car. Not bad at all.

  • Absolutely correct on all counts, but you forgot to mention that once Chrysler was solvent again, Iacocca went on a spending spree that set the stage for Bob Eaton to sell the company to the Germans.

  • We had an '84 Red 2 door. had an accident in '93 God I miss that car!!

  • People, people its a K CAR .Great if you want to remain single.

  • If you're real you can get a date driving just about anything! Chicks don't care about cars.

And remember, the K-car got us through the Reagan era.

  • Comment removed

  • A beautiful machine. My baby would have been 20-years-old this year. May she rest in peace.

  • Haha, that was so fun to watch. Can you post the whole segment? You don't see many vids of these cars.

  • This was our drivers ed car. I think concked out a few times. Scared a couple of kids.

  • My wagon was my first car. Survived two accidents. Pulled out the bumpers and on it still went.

  • These really were great cars. I actually still have mine. It's been running for seventeen years!

  • lol These really are great cars. I had one 15 years ago. 2.5l, gutless, but it was a tough little car.

  • weak i wish i could have taped all this stuff i did to my k kar these cars are tanks will go thru anything take jumps up to 80 mile an hour ebrake slides but eventualy the uni body just snaps

  • There used to B a Police Package (City Use) for the K car. Think the cops here used to have some. lol

  • ya in 1987 they started using them they were called reliant scouts they were basic traffic ticketing cars cause of course cops are not going to use them in pursuits or anything but i love k cars so much iam going to buy one there much better then cars today thats for sure

  • Who is that guy though? A stunt driver? Car magazine writer?

  • That was Bobby Rahal..former Indy 500 winner. The commercial was filmed at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course (Where the Indy guys and gals used to run).

  • awesome! I just got an 85 Aries sedan, ours has custom adjustible air ride suspension in the back.

  • Great!!!

  • i had one of those

  • Hey...Drive it like you stole it.
