a beautiful, beautiful, song.....timeless,really. I remember singing Donovan songs with my sisters in the 70's as a kid..... Just before going back to Iraq, I told my sisters to play this song at my funeral if I came home in a box.....go listen to Joan Baez & mimi Farrina's interpretation of this song, it REALLY IS better than the original.....
@mudmarine0311 You are correct, sir. Joan and Mimi sound like one in their version. Incredible blend of two beautiful voices. One example where 1+1 = more than two. Also check out Joan and Mimi doing "Bread & Roses". You won't be sorry.
Normally I would never compare Bob Dylan and Donovan together, but now I will.
Bob Dylan was probably one of the greatest songwriters ever.. And really, he's not overrated, because alot of people put him down. Donovan was also great at songwriting, and could sing better than Bob.. (Personally, I think Bob's voice was beautiful in it's own way.. I loved his really young voice in the sixties. Wish I was born 5 decades earlier like him.) Anyway, Bob's my favorite, but I also love Donovan. :)
I like the way donovan sings and plays guitar. It's touching and fine. One of my favorites along with Neil Young. This song is very simple, but very moving and beautiful, music and lyrics. A pearl of elegance
@clashboy1977 lets face it, you cant be better than dylan when it comes to only guitar and harmonica. Admit that this is a really great song and better than some of dylans, but better overall?
love it

Esses foram anos turbulentos cheio de guerras( war), tristeza. Mais os músicos dessa época conseguiram reerguer o mundo com suas belas musicas !
